If the plan is to keep Madrigal down to start the year, and if Moncada is good for opening day, I’d just let Mendick start at 2B to start the year. Then after a week, you reevaluate. If Mendick is struggling, you bring up Madrigal and nobody can argue about service time manipulation. If Mendick is playing well, then that’s a good problem to have.

I just read something interesting. If they play this season, Chase Daniel will be paid more than JameisWinston and Cam Newton combined.

I think Madrigal is the starting 2nd baseman on opening day. He is this teams best at the position and that is what will count in the end. Others said Robert and or Moncada wouldn't sign an extension because they already had enough money to gamble on themselves. Those people taking that view were wrong. TA signed one after being brought up and playing for a while. RH will get it done IMO.

Yeah he did back before the injuries. In 2015 and 2016 he hit 100 multiple times. Even in 2018 after he came back from shoulder surgery he was hitting 98 late in starts. (5th or 6th inning)
