Thanks. God forbid anyone express any optimism about anyone. Negativity until proven otherwise.4 points

Ugh...he was the best! What a great person...and for White Sox fans...he was the perfect manager at the perfect moment for this franchise!3 points

I do not miss the days of looking for box scores in the paper and seeing “late game not included.”3 points
-
BS. The Cubs have somewhere around double the Sox revenue on paper, plus they took over the whole neighborhood. They should be the Dodgers. They are damned liars.3 points

Just another borderline unreadable thread derailed by posters trying to out-snark each other.3 points

I’m not sure what people are even arguing here. Paddy legit failed at his job, regardless if he was somewhat compromised by Jerry. We have consistently failed to fully utilize our international bonus pools in an effective manner under both Hahn and Getz (at least so far). And no, one good trade for Batista by Hahn doesn’t change that narrative…there are multiple years of money going unspent, pool traded to teams to eat option costs, and slot being traded for relief prospects that all flamed out. As for Keller, it’s way too early to draw firm conclusions there. The early talk is highly promising but we need to see some results before we anoint him our LatAm savior.3 points

Lmao Poles isn’t gonna get fired because of the Commanders results. Thats super dumb why is anyone even entertaining that3 points

Just heard the news and am devastated. Jeff, Billy Pierce and Roland Hemond were three of the finest men I ever knew. Words fail me right now. We talked often over the years and he was always gracious with a lot of stories. I'll call the family on Monday. Just terrible news.2 points

Dude come on. The Cubs own an entire neighborhood. They have all the resources in the world. Jerry sucks but the Ricketts are worse.2 points

Lol…Jerry needs to sell ASAP. Like when a “cherry on top” closer signing for the Dodgers is effectively the largest move in franchise history for us, it’s officially time to put the current owner to pasture. $100M contracts are simply not a big deal anymore, at least in isolation, but Jerry is basically allergic to them. Also, f*** the Dodgers and Major League Baseball…league is a total fucking joke right now.2 points
-
Plenty of blame to go around, just not with the guy who was supposedly in charge. Keep telling your Chris Getz bobblehead that.2 points
-
He doesn’t know either but he’s excited2 points
-
Oh I agree with this. But the Ricketts allow their front office to run a modern baseball org, which up until now (and a huge maybe), Jerry has been against.1 point
-
There always seems to be something different, something far less honorable about buying a team than developing a team.1 point
-
I agree. I hate Ricketts on principle, but he should be basking in good will for 2016, and subsequent beatification of "Wrigleyville". And they all just hunker down and cry poor. I consider myself fairly liberal, but I completely understand a guy owning a business, and just spending what he can to get customers in the door. Spending $450M on a guy like Tucker seems performative, even if he does produce. "Look at how much I want to WIN!!!!" Just so bro-dudes can feel mighty while taking credit for other men playing baseball and winning games. But he shouldn't be worrying about $10M, or an extra year for a reliever, or whatnot.1 point
-
There is no rational argument for the Ricketts being worse than Jerry. The latter is a no doubt bottom four owner in baseball right now along with Nutting, Fisher, and whoever owns the Rockies.1 point
-
I won’t defend a $65M payroll or Jerry for that matter, but we’re also rebuilding so you’re comparing apples and oranges. The Cubs should be outspending us by a mile right now. That being said, I do agree the Ricketts should be doing more theoretically, but they are also a bunch of trust fund fuckwads so who knows.1 point
-
Yeah, but that happens. We got Alex Rios like that. We wouldn't have signed a guy like him on the open market, maybe JR would balk at the price tag, or Rios would choose a team with a better image - but we grabbed him on waivers. So...gifted? We got a pitcher in a way that pitchers become available. He couldn't right the ship in NY, and they traded him. Like Keith Foulke to the As.1 point

I've never heard someone refer to the 2005 World Series as "gifted" to the White Sox.1 point

Or the 9/10 pm news not having the late results or West Coast scores.1 point

Cubs revenues dwarf the Sox. They could sneeze up 250 to 300 million a year.1 point

At least Ohtani might be the greatest player in history...unlike that prick Derek Jeter.1 point

Meanwhile, the Sox are down to a $65 million dollar payroll right now? The Sox are still worse. We are lower than the A’s now.1 point

Shouldn't it instead be 6:41 for the 2024 win total?1 point

For all of the people out there actually watching the White Sox this year...1 point

Yeah. Home games will be over before 9. It's great.1 point

Why? Without looking it up, I'm guessing the Dodgers have maxed out the set penalties (international pool, draft picks), so at this point, all they're doing is paying dollars to spend dimes. And if Sasaki, Yamamoto and Ohtani are bringing in the money to pay those overage fines, they're really setting themselves up to be the team for which Japanese kids dream of playing for decades. You're already braying about the Dodgers signing an African player. Anybody else could build a baseball diamond in South Sudan, and start training kids to play baseball. If the Padres weren't in an ownership fight, and maybe spent a little more judiciously, they'd have the money to sign Tanner Scott. They're also going to lose Jurickson Profar to somebody with their dithering, and we'll all cry that baseball is broken, again. The Dodgers have built the prospect machinery to add their initial round of free agents to, then build a brand in Japan. That's exactly what MLB wants.1 point
-
That’s almost impossible. Some key players will have developed a bit by then, even if it’s in spite of the Sox ways.1 point
-
Everything doesn't have to come back to a Getz dig. I think Preller has written a bunch of ill-advised contracts. Hosmer and Myers are just two big examples. Is Bogaerts a bad contract? If 2024 was a blip, maybe he bounces back.1 point
-
The earlier start times save money on lighting. They also ensure workers get home earlier, and are more productive the next day.1 point
-
I blame this on Chris Getz. And Brooks Boyer. And WestEddy. In no particular order… Maybe they should try starting LATER to keep the Sox scores out of the news, lol…1 point

Now many summer home night games will officially be over before dark, than just over.1 point

Meanwhile...Pirates running a SoxFest preview simulation. Pittsburgh Pirates CEO Travis Williams said the organization is committed to winning but declared to frustrated fans that owner Bob Nutting will not sell the team. Williams addressed fans' frustration over Nutting's ownership Saturday during a Q&A session at the Pirates' annual offseason fan fest. As Williams was responding to the first question, one fan in attendance shouted, "Sell the team," prompting some applause from the audience. At that point, several fans started chanting, "Sell the team!" Greg Brown, the Pirates' longtime television play-by-play announcer, asked the fans to stop the chant and to "be respectful." Another fan then asked Williams, who was seated next to Pirates general manager Ben Cherington and manager Derek Shelton, why Nutting was not in attendance. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43479141/bob-nutting-sell-pirates-team-ceo-tells-frustrated-fans Let them eat cake!!! and like it.1 point

If they were planning on making a sham of the Rooney rule, you’d think they would have gotten it over with earlier on so they could be prepared to pivot to Ben Johnson instantly.1 point

So…this is not a draft pick comment, just observing - Jayden Daniel and the Washington offense have simply been incredible in this game. This is like watching Brady, I have no idea how some of these guys are open, how he’s finding them, and how he gets these throws in, but this is a magnificent performance.1 point

Why is everyone concerned about how good the Dodgers are? There are 28 teams between the Sox and the Dodgers right now. Achieve “not the worst team ever” and then we can start worrying about the Dodgers.1 point
