  1. A great line from Joe Dirt that rings true, "It's not what you like, its the consumer." I think the reason tailgating is so popular is that there's literally nothing else to do in the area outside of trying to cram in Turtles or Cork. I know public transportation and trains apparently frighten you, but for probably the 100th time in this thread, plenty of people (myself included) have 0 issue utilizing them back to the burbs after games. Like most humans, Sox fans will adapt to less available parking in the future if a stadium at the 78 does eventually come to fruition.

  3. Someone should invent a sort of building where you can park on a 2nd or 3rd floor.

  4. Ice-cold take. First of all, unless that ball is in your hands, it’s anyone’s. Doesn’t matter how far someone ran to get it. Secondly, I would get suspended for saying the words I’d use to describe grown men (and women) who grab balls/hats/etc. that were intended for children.

  5. Update: At the start of the year, I told myself the Sox need to win 5 out of every 16 games to get to 50 wins (and then they’d still have two games to spare). So I will break the season into ten different 16-game chunks. I’ll update every time we finish another 16 games. Here are the results: 4-12 5-11 5-11 7-9 4-12 7-9 10-6 3-13 10-6 Total: 55-89, on pace for 62 wins.

  9. That father threw no elbows, he did nothing bad. He ended up with the ball they all were reaching for. you keep making up background stories, what if this happened what if that happened. We saw what happened, that lady was pissed she didn’t get the ball and ran up to him and berated him in front of his son until he said “this isn’t worth it” and gave the ball back This game is supposed to be about enjoying it with your family; and frankly it’s appalling that you believe we need to get away from giving a ball to kid when you get a foul or a home run. We see videos every year of people doing that and the kids light up every time and those are awesome memories that make lifelong baseball players. I honestly can’t believe you are arguing this.

  10. Beats trying to buy a pen at $15M a crack for aging bozos. Is it too much to ask for a few bucks to be spent elsewhere?

  11. Won the series vs. the division leaders despite some sloppy moments. Came out of an ALC road trip 6-1. And 10-7 record in a stretch of 17 straight with no off days, which is impressive both because and in spite of them leaving a couple on the table. WILLing and venABLE

  12. I'm saying, a backend of Vasil, Leasure, Taylor (in whatever order) is a really good bullpen.

  13. Nice to get a win here. That Brooks Baldwin fuckup was pretty bad but it's nice to be overcome things now and then.

  19. It’s just one of those things you gotta do. It’s social convention. Not one I’m willing to buck. I went to a Sox game with a friend once and she told me, “why don’t you just keep it if you want it?” I’m like, “just because”. It’s just one of those things.

  20. Sox fans are smarter than this. The Cubs draw a 3 million a year fan base with almost zero surface parking.

  22. The #30, #29, and #28 teams all have the same odds at picking #1. The odds don't change for the Sox unless they hit #27. The Sox would need to fall two slots which is currently 8.5 games, in the last 18 games.

  23. Yet you come here and regurgitate the same stale talking points bi-weekly. We all get and know your stance, you just choose to ignore any evidence or explanation that doesn't align with your opinion.

  24. I am glad to finally admitted this outloud. It's step one to getting past your fears. Don't let your life be occupied by fear tropes. The whole rest of the world is able to handle it being out in public in big scary cities, many way worse than Chicago. If Cubs fans can do it, so can you.

  32. Let's play "spot the parking lots". This is Truist Park in unincorporated Cobb County. Atlanta is entirely suburbs and the ballpark is no where close to downtown.

  35. William Bergolla 5-5 with 2 doubles, hitting above league average at Birmingham with plus shortstop defense, a below 5% strikeout rate and 37/48 in stolen bases, all before turning 21. Even with a complete lack of power he's a real prospect.

  40. Part of the issue which is often overlooked is that in the last 40+ years how often have the Sox pot together streaks of consecutive winning seasons? When they have two-three-four winning seasons in a row that generates fan interest. Check the figures from 1981-1985, from 1990-1994 and from 2000-2006. Coming out of nowhere to be competitive after multiple losing years does little to immediate move the attendance figures. Since 2007 this franchise only has back to back winning years in 2020-2021. All we all know what was going on at that time. This of course also doesn't factor in the backlash over things like the 94-95 labor impasse which JR helped initiate and the infamous White Flag Trade which helped hammer attendance to say nothing of the threat to move the franchise in the late 1980's. The Sox consistently shoot themselves in the foot, White Sox fans have long memories and that absolutely impacts attendance.
