  1. Like the lineup. Hope the offense wakes back up. 4 runs in the last 4 games. Previous 4 games was 21 runs.

  5. Yep, and they promised the owners of McCuddy's that they'd get a new bar across from the new stadium but I think they ended up trying to shove them off somewhere blocks away and it was never rebuilt. Reinsdorf wanted people to spend all their money inside the stadium and didn't want other businesses on the site siphoning off his profits. Just like how he pushed the upper deck above 3 levels of suites/premium seating (the Club level was initially a premium seating area) to maximize his profits. The ways they screwed up New Comiskey was just astonishing and it had Jerry Reinsdorf written all over it.

  6. Man, season has flown by. Back in the first week of March I was sitting at a bar in Kahului enjoying my last few hours in paradise and decided to do a MLB fantasy draft. Have had various Sox on and off this year, riding the Colson experience for a couple months now. Had Sosa and Vargas at Smith at times as well. In the semis this week. Be nice to win the week and have the Sox take this series and push for 63.

  7. From a White Sox perspective the important item to note is that the Ishbia's at least tried to win. It didn't work out but they tired. As a Sox fan I'll take that right now over what JR has been giving us especially since 2007.

  8. Might be time to sit Colson for a few games and just let him watch. The strikeout totals are insane for him of late.

  9. Getz and Jerry deserve all of this, I'll be glad that Jerry won't see the next successful team, that fucker

  11. Instead of the skyline view at the 78 we could get a great view of US Steel

  12. I can see them staying at the current location with Ishbia trying to develop the surrounding areas and maybe make some updates to the stadium itself.

  13. Yeah boy was I ever wrong about the Getz hiring as I fiercely criticized it! This turnaround has been so fast and nearly all under his guidance. His decisions and hirings have all been outstanding! Geesh, that Crochet trade alone! Wow! Kudos Monsieur Getz!

  14. They’re 22 in the league post all star break and will most likely drop to 26 before the weekend. The post all star break record is not a hill to die on.

  15. Yikes. Valiant comeback effort but your two best hitters strikeout in the clutch situation. Sox have to finish their last 10 games with a 6-4 record to avoid another 100 loss season.

  16. The 8th is his best inning, over 1.000 OPS including close to .700 SLG and 6 of his 20 HR. Also 11 of his HR are with 2 outs.

  18. Kind of a shame to finish the season limping like this after showing some promise.

  19. This really doesn't matter. What matters is MLB wants the money that a brand new franchise would go for (Sports Illustrated estimated it a two Billion dollars) as opposed to moving an existing one which would get them a lot less in fees. And again the Nashville Mayor has publicly said after contributing to the Titans new stadium there is no money available for a baseball stadium. The idea of the Sox moving to Nashville is D.O.A.

  20. According to Stone...got away from getting ahead of the hitters with FBs and started pitching backwards off his change and curve. As well as poor location/command within the strike zone.

  23. Agree with you and some other posters who posted the same. Let's face it, 35th and Shields is a location nobody except die hard old time Sox fans can rave about. My guess is rthe new owners would love the 78 location the most. If they sit down and think about their future, however in terms of making $$, there's only one choice: work something out with the Bears regarding Arlington Heights. Make it a huge sports district with bars, concert halls, a place for DePaul basketball, a place for Chicago Sky basketball. Just go crazy out there. ... A rich guy like Ishbia is NOT gonna accept 35th and Shields, the old neighborhood with the narrow old streets and old way of life. Seriously even though it makes the most sense in terms of government assistance, 35th and Shields has no chance to be home of the Sox. Bridgeport may be nice but forgetaboutit. Remember u heard it here first. a.) Sox will locate to Arlington Heights out of nowhere. b.) 78 could definitely win out. c.) Soldier Field area. d.) 35th and Shields. e.) Revamp Midway Airport and put a stadium there.

  24. Sosa looked like Pete Incaviglia or Kevin Reimer at first. Meidroth and Montgomery showing range limitations…first step burst a bit lacking.

  25. I don't think it's a dead horse. Nashville is a good market. It's wealthy and growing. The team wants a new stadium. Is Nashville/Tennessee more willing to do it on the new owner's terms than Chicago/Illinois is? Maybe. I mean, Nashville might be a bigger draw than the current Sox depending on how the potential Sox stadium shakes out regardless of subsidies. Several great sites in Chicago including South Works and maybe Soldier Field, but will the city/state play ball? Is the new owner actually 'loyal' to the region?

  26. Good job by Sosa, when you’re in a bad slump it’s a good idea to go the other way.

  27. Yea another deck in the outfield bleachers when they can’t even fill the lower bowl (much less the current upper deck) isn’t really a good idea imo

  29. Nothing is coming soon, we both know that. We are gonna be stuck in a yearly loop of WBWSF musing that we are losing the Sox out of state without any actual indication that is happening
    1 point
  30. I'd be shocked if there was any announcement or information "coming soon." Well there are a lot of empty areas right next to the current stadium as others have suggested or what I think will happen the Sox are going to stay right where they are with Ishbia trying to improve the surrounding areas and the park itself.

  38. Look, if the White Sox leave Chicago, expansion teams will be fist fighting to take their place ala the Cleveland Browns.
    1 point
  39. I think the chances of this happening before expansion are basically zero. MLB wants two prime markets available who will build them a publicly-funded new stadium. They won't be eager for the White Sox to take one of those cities off the board like the A's did with Las Vegas. I'm not sure how eager Nashville will be to fork over nearly $1B in taxpayer money for a baseball stadium either as they're spending a fortune on the new Titans stadium. After expansion? Mayyyybe. It depends on how the dust settles after expansion and realignment. I'm still doubtful that Ishbia, who is based in Chicago, will want to move the team out of state. But at that point, MLB wouldn't care because they'll likely have imploded the AL and NL, putting the Sox and Cubs in the same division and "conference" and thus making the Sox presence in the Chicago market seem superfluous. Still a longshot, but at that point, I could see a series of events that maybe leads to their departure - perhaps the city blocks the team from building a privately-funded ballpark at the 78 because of neighborhood objections and some other city ends up getting spurned by MLB in expansion and is ready to make a generous stadium offer. Maybe. But we're a long way from that point. Most likely, if their only option is to stay at the current stadium and they won't or can't turn the area into a thriving "stadium district", then I don't expect them to move the team, but expect another 30 years of stagnant market share and arguing that Sox fans aren't fair weather even though they will only show up to games if they're winning and making deep playoff runs for an extended number of years.

  42. The greatest trick Getz ever played was anchoring expectations of 120 losses in year one. I'm not kidding. As I said I'll give him a solid C+ for this season but dude since he took over we're like 90 and 200.

  43. I don't see how tanking helped the Tigers much. Riley Greene is good, but even he's not elite. Their elite pitcher was drafted in the 9th round. Tanking gives one top pick a year. And even then, most years don't have a slam-dunk/annual all-star prospect. Even if you draft 30th it's like you lost your 1st round pick, but you draft first in rounds 2-20. The Sox didn't start losing intentionally. The players turned sour and they didn't have a group of young players to replace them. Unless you are a big spender, you need youth. While the Crochet trade could be considered tanking, it's a trade frankly I hope the Sox have the guts to make if they are good and the farm isn't...because they won't be good for long if they don't have a constant inflow of youth.
