  12. It just killed me to see so many people suggesting trading EQ. He's so good so young. We've only seen the tip of the iceberg of his talent. All the inquiries about him were about recognizing his talent and trying to get him before he reaches his full potential. I realize Teel is the real deal too. He hit all 8 of his HR's in the 2nd half and his OPS was .833 ! He only had 300 AB last year. He could easily double his HR total. I know its hard to carry 3 catchers but Quero and Teel both need to get 500+ AB as 2 of the Sox most dynamic young players with loads of upside.

  15. They say W. Michigan is one of the cloudiest places on earth. As someone that did 20 some odd winters there I think they ain't lying. Misery loves company. It's 38 today with a venus like cloud cover. Had some flurries this morning. I figured we were done with winter and on our way to spring but we finally got a gulf of alaska low pressure the last week. Had some hail too. Oddly we had no real winter weather in January or December. Climate is def changing. It was 50 and dry for most of January here. Anyways, go Sox. Glad to be getting into the better part of the calander.

  22. Cubs sideline reporter said it's "freezing" in Phoenix today? Come on it's 61 and partly sunny. Not exactly that cold for mid February down there. Freezing relatively would be like high 40s.

  26. 109.5 MPH is 1.4 MPH harder than any ball Meidroth has hit as a pro. Pretty crazy. I was just being a dick but figured it was possible. Had to check.

  35. Extorting money from the bears in a transaction where the state pays money to the bears for their other stadium? And the extortion is to payoff what the city built for them just 23 years ago that is still usable and available?

  36. I think the dangerous game was when Pritzker flat out told Warren that they didn’t plan to talk about the stadium at all in 2026 assemblies after the Bears waited 3 years and they were public in wanting shovels in the ground in 2025. Pritzker overplayed his hand. If the Bears leaving gets the govt to reassess how they do business in this state, then it’s a long term win for residents. It just sucks they had to potentially lose the Bears to finally get a mirror up.

  37. I doubt they negotiate with anyone. They’ll try and reach a deal with Roch or they’ll just take him anyway. He’s not going back to school.

  38. Likely true since at the bottom of the lineup card about 15 guys are listed as OFF. Lots of guys to make decisions on. Colson isn't one of them.

  41. Teel is much better than Quero in my opinion. There are only 4 guys in baseball with a slower bat than Quero, and while some of those guys are good (Kwan!), they are also unicorns. Ironically, Meidroth is one of the guys that has a slower bat, and it's a big reason I don't have much faith in either of those guys. At least Quero understands his bat speed and EV's will prevent him from being an impact bat and is working on it, but I'm skeptical of the add potential there given his approach.

  42. I am not a fan of Warren but this is fully on the state of Illinois over playing their hand and then the Bears finally looking at Indiana. I'd guess Indiana is going to throw up a couple new Hammond casinos/hotels not as large as the AH entertainment project but decent enough to draw some Chicago folks and pull from the New Buffalo casinos.

  43. I get why you guys say this, but I will always roll my eyes at the analogy. Not saying the bears don’t have a national presence, but their market is local and it’s the very people they are trying to extort out of money. you know where the bears could have probably gotten way more money? Saudi Arabia. Coulda had a dome there! Money is important and the only thing to judge acts by, so seems like the perfect opportunity. Definitely not sleazy to prey on the social and communal bonds this particular business creates to enrich a bunch of billionaire failsons over, I unno, more deserving uses of money.

  45. No, owning a sports franchise should be a money losing venture solely for the benefit of fans in the area. (I wish we still had green) It's not just sports team that receive breaks like this. The state of Texas gave billions to have Tesla and Toyota relocate here. On a smaller scale most towns have economic development agencies whose job it is to lure business with a favorable deal. Indiana can be the New Jersey of the Midwest.
