  1. I am thinking of suing the Sox for unnecessary and wanton infliction of pain.
  2. The Sox have managed to burn down Nancy Faust, Hawk Harrelson, and now Frank Thomas in recent years. How's that for some red flags.
  3. Another self inflicted wound by an incompetent, dysfunctional and inept organization.
  4. That is ash tray money to these parties. There is def a grudge here.
  5. Now Frank's saying the White Sox have to stay out of Frank Thomas business.
  6. “That man has tried my patience for years… You know what? He better stay out of White Sox business!”
  7. Maybe we can get Kenny out of retirement to deliver the message?
  8. I'm guessing this will end any chance of Frank appearing on the pre and post game shows again.
  9. I think you could get a pretty solid class action together.
  10. Buddy ncorgbl has seen the contract and it is not in there
  11. Working in licensed apparel, current players are under the MLBPA. When a player retires the apparel companies usually deal with each player individually, be it through an agent or another entity. Looks like they didn’t get an agreement prior to putting his name and number on the City Connect 2.0 jersey.
  12. Yea but on the flip side Clevinger can't get enough Sox, so it balances out.
  13. Could probably argue Benetti too
  14. Corboy and Demitri are personal injury lawyers. Were Lerner and Rowe not available? All joking aside, whether this is frivolous or not, its an embarrassment the Sox don't need with the best player they may have ever had. Certainly the best since JR took over.
  15. This is what I am curious about. I know that there are agreements with current players, but I would be curious how it works for former players. I also know that Fanatics just came in and took all of these contracts, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.
  16. And the I REMEMBER THE 1959 WHITE S9X crowd is very quickly leaving us. We need to tap into the next generations if the Sox are going to remain viable, because lord knows Jerry had burned this once proud franchise to the ground
  17. Man, whoever decided to not put him on the graphic really fucked up.
  18. I have never seen any City Connect jersey out here in the burbs, not even one, let alone a Frank Thomas City Connect jersey. IMO they are pretty ugly and whoever designed them should be sued. As far as the White Sox, they don't print jerseys. I doubt they even gave the authority to use Frank's name and number, but if they did, obviously they would be liable. But I wonder how much the actual damages are since hardly anyone bought those.
  19. I actually zoomed in on his nose to see if he had any snow boogies.
  20. If he was a real friend, he would have stayed with T Mobile. Dump his ass.
  21. I have no idea, I thought we had a solid offseason but you could easily see a situation where the pitching help expected to come in June all has slow starts/injuries and we have a completely gassed bullpen and miserable staff for most of the year. If that doesn't happen, I think once May comes around the season will be enjoyable and I hope for 75 wins.
  22. It turned out it was just his love of Eloy and attention imo. I'll never forget the dumb f*** hanging out in the net instead of retrieving the ball and turning what should have been an out into a triple.
  23. I'm bullish on the start of the season because we have an unusually warm streak of away series. Milwaukee (Dome) Miami (Dome) Kansas City Sacramento Phoenix (Dome) San Diego Anaheim Seattle (Dome) San Francisco That takes you all the way to June with KC being the only potentially cold series. Obviously we still play half the games in Chicago but that is WAY better than we normally see.
  24. My wife and I were going to be in Milwaukee this week anyway (a quick drinking getaway) and decided to grab tickets to Thursday's game. I've only been to one other away Sox game (in Milwaukee), and they lost in dramatic fashion after allowing Justin Anderson to pitch in the bottom of the 8th in a one run game. But Benintendi did homer...before somehow hurting himself. Hopefully my presence will bring them luck. If not, there's always beer. But, yeah, if could be a tough first couple series.
  25. Not entirely his fault. It’s possible all the Nugenix he’s on has drained the blood from his brain.
  26. Haugh on the radio this morning said that PCA’s floor is being an all star and it made me laugh out loud.
  27. Agreed. And the dude easily has the most punchable face in baseball.
  28. Sox attendance at Cameltoe this year was fairly pathetic. A few bodies in the OF but not many in the seats. Nice work Jerry!
  29. I don't think anyone's brought it up, but I'd be willing to create a banner if anyone wants - I'd just need the Soxtalk logo in a PNG format and sizing specs.
  30. "Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long long time."
  31. Thinking back, I wonder if this stuff was already happening, and that's why he was left off. The timing would make sense.
  32. Seems zero chance Baldwin doesn't start the season on the 15 day IL, maybe they can back date it a bit. Not much out there on the injury just that he has elbow inflammation. I'd assume it's in his throwing arm or he'd probably be trying to play through it. Bummer. I guess as a position player he could try and play through a partially torn UCL but let's hope it's not that.
  33. Not really a surprise once camp was down to 13 healthy pitchers, but it's official now. Hope Paez can bring a back to back Rule 5 championship win to Chicago
  34. Thanks for the info.
  35. Don’t forget Benetti. Or Allen Thomas (Alek’s father).
  36. Saw the headline earlier today and was like "lul of course" but now reading the reason why, Frank seems justified. Don't know any of the details, but it seems absurd to use his likeness without his permission or giving him any money.
  37. That's a lot of money to give PCA after his disastrous second half imo. His BB/chase rates would make Lenyn Sosa blush. They actually strike me as similar hitters, of course Pete is several years younger and an excellent defender at an important position. I dunno how the team couldn't get any club options at least. Roman Anthony signed for 8/180 (lower AAV) with a club option, but the ugly sox only bought out a year of FA. It could end up being an excellent contract, so could've LuBob's, but I also think the Cubs could've waited a year. IMO they should've retained Tucker and passed this extension down the road, let him go through arbitration and invest that money in a roster that could win the World Series now. This contract and the Roman Anthony one makes me think about what a steal the Brewers got with Chourio. 8/82, bought out 2 years of free agency with 2 club options. Smart team.
  38. He has some tools but his hit tool is like 30/35 and that just won't ever play even as a catcher. xwOBA of .257 for his career. He's a mediocre defensive catcher and he'd have to be Pudge back there (the 2nd one) to even hang on as a useful backup.
  39. except I think we started the year with a better staff in the majors last year than we have this year.
  40. I feel like they pay them free tickets and players just hope it helps with autograph partnerships. Sort of kidding
  41. Damn just activated it, took all of 30 seconds. Much smoother than prior years it seems.
  42. If nothing else it will be nice to not get the snow / rain outs so much as a fan. And I'm sure the players appreciate it. Baseball is not meant to be played or watched on a 38 degree windy day. It's a warm weather sport and fan experience.
  43. This is the kind of call back I need in my life.
  44. Thomas allege that his consent was not obtained for the use of his name or likeness on the City Connect 2.0 merchandise ONLY. This seems like a matter that should have been easily settled before Thomas went to one of the big hitters among law firms in town - Corboy and Demitri. IMO, unnecessary bad publicity for all concerned. Having said that there are always two sides to a lawsuit so there must have been some reason that the City Connect apparel was not subject to royalties.
  45. Man, how the hell did the Sox let it get to this point? Just pay the man a fair value for his NIL. Given that I've never heard of such a lawsuit I'd assume there are pretty standard agreements between clubs and ex players -- an agreement the Sox apparently couldn't come to with Frank.
  46. I was at Dick's in the west suburbs last week and popped in looking for Sox gear. I saw two full sections of cubs, full wall of Blackhawks, all of the Bears and Bulls stuff... and three women's shirts for Sox. I asked a kid that worked there where the Sox section was and he just shrugged and said there was no Sox section. They genuinely had more German national soccer team gear than White Sox gear. We're losing (or already lost) the next generation of fans. We need a reason to be in the stores, and for people to see the brand and support the team. Getting this stadium right is key.
  47. Nope, it’s a major league guaranteed deal for $1.2 million.
