  1. It's time for those who went after Getz ruthlessly to apologize. He's done a great job with having little payroll to work with. I don't think ANYBODY thought we'd be 14-17 now. Please sign and submit the apology form accordingly.
  2. For the first time in MLB history there are more Ks per game than hits. I think some teams are really having a hard time adjusting to the TTO LA era -- both sides of the ball. For whatever reason the Sox seem to have finally become middle of the curve on it, after falling drastically behind under Hahn. Some interesting stats: Sox are first in pull percentage, 14th in LA, 13th in barrel %, 11th in hard hit %, and 16th in xwOBA. Everything needs to be taken in the context of the last three years but it does appear that at least for now, the Sox have emerged as simply a mediocre to bad team with no real bad contracts and a solid farm. If things keep going like this, Ishbia will be inheriting a much healthier franchise. One day at a time.
  3. Still an excellent outing from Fedde, bats need to pick him up
  4. "Outside of the players they traded away, who have they traded away?" Pal, Getz is breaking your brain.
  5. Is this a serious question? The Sox have about 97 starting pitchers dominating or having pitched well for other teams.
  6. As of this post the Sox are the only team in the division with a winning record in the last ten games and they are 1.5 games out of first. Pump them up or tear them down. Those are facts.
  7. Win #14 to sweep the Angels and win the homestand 4-2. Date to beat for #15 is 5/20...Pretty sure they'll get there. Nice to see some different ways to win in this series (big late comeback, holding a modest lead, extra inning walkoff). Angels pen helped of course, I imagine they'll have some new names around for the road series. Sox are now 13-12 with a positive run differential since the opening roadtrip. 7-3 in the last 10 is the best mark in the division and T-2 in the AL. After being 11.5 GB in the division to close last April, they finish this April 1.5 GB and in 3rd (likely tied, pending the Twins game). 13-13 in April is their first full month at or above .500 since June 2023. Also the first .500 or better April since 2021. They were 5-21 last April and that's not a typo.
  8. That’s the spirit!!!!!!!
  9. And for all interested, if he were qualified that wxOBA for Antonacci would rank him third among rookies, only behind Mune and McGoningle.
  10. Nice by Antonnachi. Love the fight in this team. When Teel comes back it will add another bat. Hoping they can stay healthy
  11. I'm not upset with Fedde still being out there given that he was doing fine and the pen isn't exactly deep
  12. At 44, you gotta do what you gotta do!
  13. Imgflipblack guy pointing at head
  14. You are legit living in a different world than the rest of us. Ill iterate it again. Chris Getz, the White Sox GM himself said the Sox are operating in the ilk of the Rays and Brewers where shuffling players and trading stars at peak value is an integral part of the model. The Sox also have traded a literal hall of famer in the past 10 years for prospects... only in your mind does that not count because the team wasnt good.
  15. Never say you're sorry you got caught !
  16. I do hate the follow up question of "what are you sorry for?"....and "I'm sorry you're mad" never seems to work.
  17. 2 points
The HRs will continue until prospect rankings improve
  18. Ron needs to apologize for this thread not being about Jerry Reinsdorf incest hiring Chris Getz.
  19. Kelenic has great walk up taste
  20. Hey we are only 1.5 games behind the division leaders. I can't remember the last time we were not in the cellar. Have to savor the moment.
  21. Vargas is still getting tough batted ball luck, his BABIP is bottom 10 for qualified hitters despite good underlying metrics. His production in spite of that bodes well for when it normalizes.
  22. Just saw the highlight....it looked like Colson was trying to not do too much. That's great to see as before I have seen him trying to hit it a mile in that situation. Just getting it done to drive in the winner.
  23. I would be too if some guy hit a routine pop up and it went out for a homer.
  24. Angels bullpen is looking like 2024 Sox levels of bad.
  25. I hated Kurt Suzuki when he was a player cause he regularly killed the Sox. I am now so happy that he's an absolute idiot as a manager.
  26. We’ve dealt with pure misery. I feel for no one!
  27. f*** yes. Man they should be above 500 right now.
  28. 2 points
Would much prefer now then in 2 months when he is on the White Sox roster.
  29. You didn't answer the question I asked to you. If Murakami continues on his current pace, and the Sox as a unit are showing signs of improvement, given his two year contract, do you expect the White Sox to try and resign him to a longer extension? Or are they trading a 27 year old power hitting LH bat to another team because they don't have any interest in giving him over $100 million dollars? What do you believe is the most likely outcome?
  30. The carve out for non-competitive teams is hysterical, because it tries to exclude the fact that that the lack of competition is very much due to their own doing. -This is a franchise that hasn't gone outside of the organization to hire a chief executive who wasn't already getting a paycheck from the White Sox, maybe ever, but at least decades. -They are a franchise who was among the last in mlb to make a minimal investment in Latin America -They are a franchise with no presence in the far east. - they have the smallest front office in baseball -they were one of the last to make a serious investment in technology, but are seemingly still looking for intern level people to interpret and create data. -they are the last team in baseball to spend on a nine figure contract. -They may be the only team in baseball without a team President in the front office instead of the C suite. I could keep going, but the point remains that the Sox spend so much time being non-competitive because they refuse to compete!
  31. You have a really hard time comprehending that 20 years is a really long time, and the game has completely changed. The Sox still haven't given a player 80 million, let alone 100. They're the last team left. Is that because theyre the only non competitive team at specific points over the past 20 years? Of course not, its because theyre the cheapest organization in baseball.
  32. So, after you carve out excuses for all the quality players the Sox traded away, your point stands? Come on.
  33. I'd rather watch Kelenic than Hill.
  34. He was absolutely horrid to start the year, but has been hitting well recently. Somewhere Harold is smiling.
  35. Wait, let me see if I got this straight. You asked, word for word "who are all these players we've developed and then traded right away because we didn't want to pay them?" As @Look at Ray Ray Run pointed out, the list is full of talented players that were traded in their prime because the Sox didn't want to pay them. If they traded them because they were in a rebuild...who's choice was that? Was the rebuild forced upon them? It was 100% the choice of the White Sox organization not to extend them. There is no "pass" given because the organization decided to do ANOTHER gut job. But then, you turn around and say "It's beyond stupid to pretend that the Sox are going to build a competitive team, then start trading away the stars because "tee-hee, moar prospects" Why is that beyond stupid? What history do you have that the Sox will keep good players around for a long term competitive window? By your logic, that means you assume the Sox will be keeping Murakami long term, outside of his two year contract? (with the assumption he continues to play at this level and is a 'star' level player under your definition)
  36. You're gaslighting everyone. It's wild. This could very reasonably be the White Sox starting rotation today if they actually signed their stars and didn't trade them like you're claiming: Chris Sale, Dylan Cease, Garrett Crochet, Carlos Rodon, Noah Schultz... (Schultz harder to guarantee given draft position may have been different, but assuming they were the main team in on him). That's the best rotation in MLB. That may be a 100 million dollar rotation, but a reasonable team would still have 100 million for a roster.
  37. I thought winner threads were not allowed, and celebrating improvement was banned. Anyway, solid win. Martin looked really good, and the bullpen didn't collapse. Specifically, Newcomb and Dominguez did what they are supposed to do. Drew Romo is already much better than McGuire, and his three RBIs were the difference. Nice to see Colson hit a bomb off a really good pitcher. And props to Antonacci for taking one for the team.
  38. Would be horrible. Being a fan, for me, is about seeing special talent and rooting for players for extended periods of time. Im still out there watching rodon, Crochet, and Cease pitch because I was fans of there's and loved watching them. Trading away all your entertainment for "future" entertainment usually results in no entertainment.
  39. Im just trying to outlast Jerry and see the beginning of the 1st ever owner of the Sox who might actually bring them into the 21st century. I won't be around if his tenure lasts over 40 years like JR's. So Im just going to be grateful to enjoy my favorite team in the moment.
  40. If any game deserves a Winner thread it was this one ! Let's hear what you all liked about it !!!
  41. I wonder how many responses can exist without someone bringing the word "trade". It's a trademark of some fans and it's not exclusive to Sox Talk. When it's about a successful player the word "trade" is doom and gloom. It pees on enjoy the moment.
  42. I like having fun in the moment without relating it to the past or future while being fully cognizant of both. The future will take care of itself and the past is gone.
  43. Ok So props to Davis Martin , Drew Romo, Colson Montgomery , Sean Luke LaLoosh Duke Nuke 'em and our Knight of the Round Table Seranthony Dominguez ! Honorable mention to Ant-Man Antonacci for saving that bases loaded no outs situation from being a complete disaster by getting hit by pitch with the bases loaded to push that 5th run across. Vargas was on base 3 of 4 plate appearances. Benintendi, Colson, Antonacci and Acuna were all on base 2 of 4 times. Romo 3 of 4 because he had a HBP to go with the 2 bombs.
  44. You never need to tell Soxtalk twice!
  45. Getz has a crippling addiction to mediocre left handed relief pitchers
