  1. Crazy to leave Bido on the roster over Leasure.
  2. My guess is that Getz will not demote Quero unless and until Kyle Teel returns. However, that strategy appears to be confounded almost every game that Quero continues to under-perform at the plate. Thankfully Romo has done the opposite - he has exceeded expectations. With Reese McGuire DFAed but still down in the minors and collecting a handsome paycheck, should he be promoted to take Quero's place? I would hope not, unless both Quero and Romo go on the IL. My own opinion is that Getz should demote Quero and bring up Korey Lee, but I don't think Getz would be comfortable with that move. Getz probably is considering that as bad as Quero has been, he has still been an asset with ABS and still has a decent throwing arm. I don't like to body shame people (and I have not always been in the best shape at times), but Quero has reportedly gained several pounds in the off-season in his derriere to the point where his walk-up song could be Fat Bottomed Girls. OK, I did what I said I wouldn't do there but Quero is a professional athlete who should be held to a higher standard and expected to come to ST in top condition.
  3. The "setback" while running sounds like the hamstring may have been re-injured to some degree. Anyway, whatever happened there seems to have created another uncertain timeline. As a fan, I wish someone from the White Sox medical or training staff would address this rather than Venable.
  4. Someone asked me how I knew Grant Taylor was better than Jordan Leisure and laughed at the idea...
  5. Hopefully that is not the case. Although the Romo pickup could be huge if it is. In any case, Quero probably needs to go down regardless. Give Romo a shot as starter and call up Lee to back him up.
  6. Agreed. The Sox seem to treat their injuries like hockey teams would. Like they are at a disadvantage if they give out too much information on an injury.
  7. We’re taking Roch, and that’s all there is to it.
  8. Might as well keep giving Romo time. I was intrigued by him when we picked him up since he was a former top prospect and it’s been nice to see him playing well
  9. www.baseballamerica.com › stories › ml... 11 hours ago · 1. White Sox trade Munetaka Murakami and cash considerations to the Diamondbacks for Ryan Waldschmidt & David Hagaman. What? How can you trade... sorry not a subscriber so the article gets cut off, but the gist of the trade is there https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/dbacks #1 prospect outfielder and #8 pitcher Cash considerations FROM the Sox/JR? your what hurts, Wimpy?

    Gonzo 2-5 with a HR, a 2B and a BB. He's 4th in the league in HRs. 1.000 OPS. Call.Him.Up.
  11. Could have also been “The Empire Strikes Back” with the whole Jedi versus Sith gimmick. 🤣
  12. The team is 2 games back of first place. What you are prematurely asking for is worse than Jerry and the White Flag trade of 1997. There is literally no reason to trade Murakami until after this season at the earliest.
  13. I never thought Colson was a bad shortstop. I always thought he could stay there. People who thought otherwise didn't watch. Bonemer might legit be 1B or LF though.
  14. Cholowsky is the best college shortstop in like 20 years. These guys usually go pro out of high school. There are some recent college guys who look pretty good though. Kurtz and Wetherholt both very good and Roch is a plus defender at shortstop. Cholowsky's numbers are basically the same as last year. K rate up a tad, walk rate down a tad. Power is similar, chase rate is better, exit velo similar etc. And teams don't really pitch to him that often. I'm actually more impressed with his junior year than sophomore year.
  15. Yeah let me stop you right there, I've seen enough.

I’m intrigued with Davis. Seems like he could be a fast mover too.
  17. I'm not saying they're that alike other than the fact they're both college hitters who destroyed college pitching. The fact that their hitting mechanics look kind of similar just gives me some PTSD. Roch is a much better athlete relative to other SS than Vaughn is at 1B. So I doubt we see Roch hit the physical wall that ended up dooming Vaughn. Roch is 100% the safer pick with the highest floor. You don't see a lot of 65 FV prospects coming out of college. I don't really think the Sox should overthink it. We tend to get prospect fatigue with guys who are locked in as the #1 pick early like Roch and Caleb Williams. But they got that hype because they are special.
  18. The critical difference is that Vaughn is a 1B/DH and Roch has a 3 WAR floor basically as a competent big league SS. Tork and Vaughn never really worked out. You have to HIT HIT HIT to be a valuable regular as a 1B/DH. Especially as a RHB. To me this is just a no brainer. You take the guy that has a guaranteed floor as a solid regular. We don't need a HR, we need a solid base hit here.
  19. That's some Andrew Vaughn PTSD right there. His batting stance is also kinda similar to Vaughn's, which doesn't help.
  20. Someone on The Score the other day (Callis maybe?) said that Emerson is better now than when Roch was his age. Said if you went tool to tool, Emerson is faster but Roch is better defensively. I also like that he hits left-handed. Idk, I don't think I would be disappointed if they took either honestly.
  21. My guess is that Roch was a higher rated prospect than Witt at the time. I think people are sleeping on, or have gotten prospect fatigue from Roch.
  22. Still sad to look at that 2019 draft… 1.) Adley Rutschman 2.) Bobby Witt Jr. 3.) Andrew Vaughn
  23. Agreed. Quero isn’t helping the team or himself right now. Let him get back his confidence in AAA. Stick with Romo as the starter and call up Lee as backup. Reassess when Teal is finally healthy. I haven’t paid enough attention to how he looks but did Quero really gain a decent amount of weight this offseason? I think you are the second poster to say this.
  24. Signing Murakami the NPB player is an entirely different proposition from re signing the guy leading the MLB homeruns along with well above average on base abilities in term's of the risk scale in JR's mind, I would imagine. Hate to defend JR, though, so I will say he is horrible here.
  25. Chicago Tribune 5-7-64
  26. First off the player has to want to be extended. Without that there's nothing that can make a guy who wanted to prove himself and get a big contract stay . If that's the case and it's impossible to sign him , it would be very smart to trade him. However ,there's always a chance he is open to it but we can't assume just because they make a very fair offer that he still want's to choose Free Agency. But to your point, I don't think JR is capable of a fair offer when he clearly doesn't want to go out owing any player $150M or what ever kind of contract he ends up signing. Just let it play out for better or worse and enjoy it while he's here. Plenty of time to sharpen your pitchfork.
  27. That would be SO typical White Sox, but the MLBPA will never agree to a salary cap.
