  1. Great post and spot-on. Also, this series confirmed a couple of important things: Junior Perez is not part of the solution against LHP and should be sent down when Murakami is activated (and ahead of Gonzalez IMO) A RH hitting backup catcher is now officially a need at the deadline as Teel can’t currently handle LHP and Romo is not a major league player We desperately need one of Pereira or Hays back to help against LHP as there are too many strong platoon guys on the active roster presently The bullpen outside of Eisert appears to be stronger than most realize providing 11 scoreless this series (McDougal likely will replace Eisert) The rotation is the primary weakness and will need to be addressed in several ways for the Sox to make the playoffs and compete in October An outside addition to the rotation that can knock everyone down a spot is critical even if that isn’t a true #1 starter (which we can’t really afford) We need to find a way to give Martin some rest down the stretch as he looks fatigued, whether that’s going six man or skipping a start here or there
  2. Theres a point where patience isn’t warranted and there is a point where it IS warranted… The KW / Hahn era with flashy overrated sissy bitches obviously got to the point where all criticism was 100% deserved. This year however, you look at this team and when they get swept and go through a three or four week period where there is regression - you just tolerate it. Today isn’t a day to jump ship - it’s a day to be stoked that in two days we’ll stock the shelves and it’s also a good time to celebrate playing to a .500 clip while our best offensive threat has been out. Perfect time to get a shot of Mune injected into the team. Hell, these guys still haven’t lost four straight all season - if they do lose tomorrow that’ll be the first time all year. My hope is that we start seeing cleaner baseball and better execution again for the last series before the break and that it continues when the break is over. These dudes have been through a LOT this past month and in some ways, still haven’t lost an ability to surpass our expectations.
  3. Romo cannot be on this roster after the all-star break.
  4. Let's not forget this a team in the midst of a rebuild. The grind, the pressure, and the spotlight may be taking a toll on these young guys. They are in a slump for sure. They can't count on miracle come backs every night. To get the kind of consistency in the starting pitching, bullpen, and lineup day in and day out takes time. A buildup process. They have come a long way quickly but still have a way to go. Stay the course and may the window stay open for many years. Patience my friends.
  5. What's funny about this is every team in MLB -- EXCEPT the White Sox -- has had a 4 game losing streak. But I guess the Braves season ended when they lost 4 in a row.
  6. Eh I think they’re playing with house money this season. Sure, it’d obviously be great if they stayed competitive and made the playoffs. I don’t think it’s the colossal failure you’re making it out to be if they don’t, though.
  7. Why are we so quick to sell the farm this season? Why give up a potential 20 HR, perennial gold glove shortstop (#60 prospect in baseball) for a guy with a career 4.7 ERA and 2 years left of control? It's just not good value by any standard. Now this is wild. Two top 100 prospects for a 5th starter/swingman. Why are we so keen on jettisoning talent from the system? The Sox are not one 'meh' pitcher away from being a WS contender. Is Detmers even better, today, than Hagen Smith? It's not like I hate the idea of trading for Detmers, but it takes guys like Jeral Perez and Mathias LaCombe to get it done not our previous two first round picks.
  8. Prior to the start of the season you were predicting another 100 losses. But the issues are more apparent now they are over .500 more than halfway through? Holy goalpost Batman
  9. I don't think they're worse than the Red Sox. But they were only 5 games over .500 heading into this series to begin with and had been playing .500 ball for over a month, so its not like this was a great team that just had a bad series. Hopefully some of the obnoxious bloomers will chill now when people point out flaws. They should have more success this weekend against the Athletics.
  10. Desperately need to make some roster changes. Perez and Romo have to go
  11. Yeah, an East Coast team needing help.
  12. Thank you @Y2Jimmy0 and @Sleepy Harold for all the work you guys do with FutureSox. It's great especially around draft time.
  13. Maybe oversimplifying it, but I think Martin was just due for regression and we’re seeing it. I still think he’s a fine 4 or 5, which is valuable. Burke might be a dude, though. I have an easier time buying a breakout from him.
  14. Sandoval, another lefty for the Red Sox gets his first start of the year. Kay is going for the good Sox, hopefully he can be as good as he was his last start before the rain. Get the win today and go into the last series before the break with the AL Central lead
  15. I think you’re gonna be in for a surprise once Detmers is traded.
  16. Nothing. We need someone who can hit LHP as well as RHP.
  17. Goober is the only poster I have put on the ignore list in my 20+ years on this site…he’s that big of a goober
  18. They can have any reliever except for Taylor; heck, any 2 except for Taylor.
  19. I mean holy f***. You can't even buy what you are saying, right?
  20. Douche. People are so hysterical and short sided. Jesus. Exactly. Moron central.
  21. In Lip’s defense, he’s very consistent in his party poopage.
  22. Meh, i'd say getting swept to open the season was worse. Felt like it was gonna be a repeat of previous years.
  23. 2 points
Everyone needs a friend like SoxBlanco
  24. Zero extra base hits in a series is a recipe for getting swept. Oakland has been struggling so hopefully our offense wakes up when Mune comes back this weekend.
  25. When the season is over, they will have improved on last year’s 61 wins, but they will be the 4th place team in this division.
  26. This series has been a tough watch.
  27. Yup and yup. I think many things are probably true. I think they were overachieving a little with a flawed roster. I think they could really use the all star break to rest and reset. And I also think they’re just having a bad series on top of all that because that’s baseball.
  28. I’m hoping this post is about the Romo bunt line-out. If so, hilarious.
  29. That has to be one of his hardest hit balls in months
  30. I think it’s a little of both.
  31. Stuffing Gonzalez on the bench and then Colson and Vargas playing out of position to get Acuna at bats is certainly a decision.
  32. You can't have Junior Perez and Acuna playing all 3 games in a series and expect to do well.
  33. Team was overcoming some of Veneable's shortcomings but they seem to be coming home to roost. His lineup construction this series was awful. Not sure if it is all his fault as Junior and Acuna are what they are. Sticking with Romo is certainly an odd organizational decision as well.
  34. Nellie Fox Day boys and girls!!!! That’s right @77 Hitmen only two more days of agony left until our franchise ( potentially ) takes the next step of a leap forward into the realm of perpetual greatness!!! Muhahahahahahaha You can put it on the BOARD - YEEEESSSSS!!!
  35. This has to be the end of the Perez experiment
  36. For me there’s nothing worse in sports than a baseball team in a hitting slump. What’s amazing is that a whole team just stops hitting, you’d think someone would be clicking, well Attonacci has hit pretty well in this series so there’s one.
  37. Merk sorta confirming. Looks like Mune back tomorrow!
  38. Win this fucking game.
  39. I think it’s a mix of regression and tiring out. I think Martin is likely a solid #3 starter or a high-end #4 on a championship caliber team. I think Burke has a higher ceiling than Davis for sure as we’ve seen lately. Just comes down to consistency for him, but I believe in the talent.
  40. I would trade Billy Carlson/Bergolla + for Detmers in a heartbeat. Mix and match some Boughton, De Pino as well if needed.
  41. You are spot on. The thing is that the division is so bad it’s there for the taking but the reality is our pitching probably isn’t good enough.
  42. Here come the hot takes
  43. In regard to 1.1, all three would/will be underslot, it's just a matter of how much under they'll come in at. The Pirates supposedly have their comp pick available for some immediate help (believe I saw that they wanted bullpen help), but not sure if the Soxline up with them in that regard.
