  1. The reality is this team isn’t leading the AL Central without Peters.
  2. Davis Martin getting right is important for this team.
  3. "Believing" in a player doesn't mean not planning for injury or fall-off.
  4. Once again, the Sox OPS vs Left is .742, 108 OPS+, 7th in MLB. What is adding a 35-year-old DH who is .668 vs Left going to do? Is he going to play over Grichuk? Who gets bumped off the roster? Kinda fucked up for the Reds to waive him though. It was supposed to be this heartwarming homecoming.
  5. The Banana Babe ! The Saluki Sultan of Swat ! A HR in 5 consecutive games ! A triple short of a cycle for the 2nd game in a row ! 70 wins ! Sox win 10-4 ! Vargas on base 4 times ! Meidroth on base 3 times ! Doyle 2 for 4, HR 4 RBI ! Newcomb . Nuke ! 17.1 innings of no earned runs ! 3 clutch zeros tonight ! Antonacci 2 of 3 2 RBI ! Acuna 2 of 4 double and single ! Teel 1st rebab start 5 inninngs, 2 caught stealing at 2nd base ! Caleb Bonemer 1st start in CF !
  6. 70 wins in August, who'da thunk? Your first place Chicago White Sox win the series, the homestand, and the tiebreaker over TEX while returning to a season high 7 games over. Shaky start from Burke to say the least, but he did just enough to keep the game from getting out of hand and buy the bats some time to get going. Venable dug in his arsenal for a Nuke and a Cannon to get a big extra day of rest for several pen arms ahead of the off day. Bats also did a great job to make sure we didn't need to sweat too much (didn't stop some folks from still trying of course). Everyone reached base except Grichuk who was PH for early (and robbed on a hard hit liner). Multi-reach games for the bench mob of Acuna, Rodgers, and Doyle chipping in at the bottom of the order. Meanwhile Peters is so hot they're going to start calling him Bananas Foster Fun note, 70 ties an MLB record for the most wins following 3+ 100 loss seasons. The Sox obviously have plenty of time to keep adding on.
  7. I'd be surprised if his next start is for Charlotte.
  8. That's why they're doing it in the minor leagues.
  9. Yeah I have to personally go see that they win and keep my GT streak alive.
  10. Mune needs to hit a few home runs so he can regain the 30-40 million he lost a few days ago when he didn’t hit home runs
  11. Southwest Sider is a go-getter, someone who gets things done
  12. Not gonna lie he plays like a bum when it doesn’t matter and then gets up for big spots, he would be a fun guy on the bench. However, man oh man we need a Magic starter to fall to us lol
  13. "If" is the biggest little word in the world. You can't ask for a better response than what the Sox did tonight but the starting pitching has almost completely flushed itself down the toilet. Burke has fallen off a cliff, Martin has gone right down the toilet, Castillo appears to be toast. I don't know what the hell they are going to do the final month. Maybe finally getting a day off, even though they have to travel to Minnesota may help. God I hope to hell so!
  14. ….but then they need to find someone to replace him as team wizard.
  15. 42 innings, one start. They clearly don't want him there as the primary backup.
  16. 2 points
    No love for Sosa?
  17. Maybe he's referring to the concave bottom of a wine bottle. Or the Irish pound.
  18. He sucks and we already have plenty of DH options for tough LHP. I'd rather pickup Robert and I don't really want Robert either.
  19. Thanks for eating a few innings Jonathan. Pen should be suprisingly fresh tomorrow
  20. all year I've felt confident this team bounces back from any trouble, but boy this SP is struggling like they did in early April. Hopefully one steps up. All year you looked at our rotation and think "how the hell are they in first place"
  21. I’m not worried about Mune at all. Here’s the full Getz quote when he brought up efforts to extend him recently:
  22. Does that mean they'll call the new South Loop stadium "The House that Peters Built"?
  23. Why? If you can cover ground in center, you can cover ground in left. If you have an arm and can cover that ground up the middle, you can also cover right. So if Bonemer shows he can man center, he’s actually showing ( since he has the arm ) that he can play any outfield position. They’re creating a multifaceted defensive player who can cover any spot in the outfield, either spot on the right side of the dirt, and can rotate as a DH if need be on rare occasion. Peters has been fantastic in center but he already gives way to a gold glover and moves to left. It wouldn’t be a bad thing in any way to have three guys on the team who could man center on any given day. You’d also have four guys who you could put in left. I’m really not seeing the problem here.
  24. Even if he is a bench/platoon player, a GG capable centerfielder for late inning defense on a team that may have Antonacci (also .598 OPS vs LHP) and Bonemer in the outfield isn't the worst thing to have available.
  25. Everytime I see Nimmo I think it’s this guy, who is a doctor but also an astronaut, a plumber, and a pool boy
  26. Just a hunch but I think he's had better AB's and I am expecting him to start turning things around in Minny
  27. I remember really early in the season on one of the podcasts and Peters was mentioned. It was basically who was he and where he came from, basic 101 stuff. He was described as a 26yrs old, plus fielder with good speed but no bat, not enough MLB experience to evaluate. I look at Doyle, 28 yrs old, 2 GG, great speed, with a previous season 3.9 WAR. I think the risk/reward is worth working on getting his bat back on track. At the very worse you have a stud OF late inning defensive replacement.
  28. If Peters can stay locked in and Colson and Mune get it going, holy #@!%
  29. Yeah, I don’t agree with this take at all. You’ve painted him out to be Bob Nutting, whose primary focus is to make a buck. Jerry wants to win, but is risk adverse and doesn’t want to take a loss. We have seen his spending behavior for years. The payroll will ebb & flow with prior year attendance and the next season’s expectations (see chart below). He is a shitty owner for many reasons, but acting like his primary goal is to make money simply isn’t true.
  30. Getting to the playoffs will require relying on the offense, heavily. The starting pitching is wearing down, but the bullpen has been solid for the most part. However, they can't rely on the same guys to go out and pitch 4 or 5 innings a game, keeping the opposing offense at bay, while our offense tries to score runs.
  31. Peters must be on this board and saw people talking s%*# about his slump. He said, "I'll show those fuckers."
  32. The Sox last 10 are four vs Detroit who has thrown in the towel. Three at KC. Currently playing frisky but we’ll see in a month and three vs the Rockies who are shitshow A or shitshow B to the Angels A. That’s a 7-3 or 8-2 run to the division title after getting one at Cleveland to secure the tie-breaker. Division champs and 2 seed. Book it! LFG.
  33. Maybe Peters can give Colson a few tips on how to hit. This guy should be our centerfielder for years to come, why they are giving time in CF to Bonemer is a mystery to me, if they want him in the outfield, they should be grooming him in LF, to throw a guy out in CF where he’s never played before and with a lot more ground to cover is a big mistake.
  34. Keep it going through Minny and Houston !!!
  35. Even if he can play CF, he doesn’t have enough power to replace the guy we have there now.
  36. Back to 7 over. That's been our resistance point all season. Time to burst through.
  37. Just found out Tristan Peters was born on leap day, crazy how well he’s been playing at just 6 years old!
  38. I’m deliriously happy Getz kept all the main prospects in the organization to build more value. That’s the right play for a team that is more about the future than the present. I’d like to have gotten more for Boston Smith. But that’s a good example of why you don’t want to be under the gun forced to make moves.
