I was excited too, unfortunately I was informed by other Soxtalk members that Yermin is unlikely to amount to anything. Supposedly, because previous 25yr old+ AAA players in the Sox organization that have put up .850+ OPS have failed, that Yermin is doomed and we shouldn’t get so excited. That being said, I’m hoping those in the organization have more sense than this shallow thinking:)3 points

Why would EE suck? I think Abreu is much more likely after his year vs RHP in 20192 points

Imagine the superstar we'd have combining Madrigal and Mercedes. Nick Mercedes ... sounds like a private eye.2 points

Scheduled Pitchers: D. Anderson, Ruiz, Mejia, Johnson, Fulmer, Marshall, Lindren Texas radio only1 point

looked it up, robert's hr would have been 68th in highest exit velocity in 2019, not bad. It's .5 mph faster than any ball JD Martinez hit last year, for example.1 point

Do you think they actually bench Abreu for Vaughn or Yermin if he is playing poorly and they are hitting well? Unfortunately, i think Renteria is too braindead/loyal and Reinsdorf is too stupidly loyal to let him be benched.1 point

I was sitting the next section over from where that dude above shot that video...that ball was a laser that got out in like 3-4 seconds. At first I thought it was a gapper...but it just kept rising like a drive off the tee. Thing was kilt.1 point

Annual reminder that any time you are planning on doing a player comp to a white Sox player it is a bad comp and just delete the post.1 point

I completely forgot about how Moncada takes a bit to get his timing back after injury and/or a long layoff. Him struggling early in spring is actually unsurprising.1 point

YM has a serious shot at 26 because he has shown serious hitting skills. Given his age there is no concern about his development or pt. Just roll with it.1 point

I agree. McCann is gone after this season, so if he’s really that critical to competing then we are big trouble anyways. If I can get a useful piece back for him, I’d be all for it.1 point

McCann is a essentially a rental. Assuming Grandal stays healthy, he will be lucky to get 50 starts. Anyone who says he is essential better predict the White Sox win at least 95 games this year or they are full of it. It is funny to read ome thread where Mercedes has taken almost a cult status with some, but in another thread if somehow the Sox had to use him as a BACK UP catcher, they were screwed. if you can get something worthwhile for MCCann, trade him. I wouldn’t give him away. But it wouldn’t surprise me in July if the Sox did just that, and probably ate some money.1 point

Agreed. Just look at him jogging the bases after his two homers this spring. The earth is trembling due to his mass. And he doesn’t simply look fat. He just looks gigantic and beefy. He’s a DH first guy.1 point

I’d rather keep McCann since he’s a better defensive option than Mercedes and Collins.1 point

Not sure about listing Yermin as a 3B or comparing him to Manny Ramirez1 point

I can’t even come up with an example of how much worse he’d be out there.1 point
