  1. For the millionth time, he wasn't acquired for his power but I get that it doesn't fit your Troll agenda, so raise your head out of the sand in a couple weeks and say the same tired schtick.

  2. Driving to Denver in august. Will attend 1 game. Will get tipsy in bar near Comiskey once this summer. My son lives in the city.

  5. That is hilarious. They use his pic to drive traffic and then say nothing.

  6. There's a difference between a guy with a guaranteed contract and a guy who is going to clear waivers since no one will touch him.

  7. You’ve probably put far more thought into this than whatever price gouging plan they schemed up.

  8. I believe I recall Ozzie referring to Magglio as a Venezuelan POS at one point. I do remember those OO EE OO MAGLIO chants being quite fun for the crowds.

  9. I feel like after the 2020 mess they set themselves out a back to business format -Make playoffs in 2020 -Park reopens in 2021, make playoffs again -2022 raise ticket prices after playoff appearances, make LCS or World Series. Cut sales staff because we won’t need them thanks to the teams success. -2023 big jump in parking costs across $30 barrier, add in the escalated prices inside sections and big changes to season ticket packages, and this will not be an issue because of the success the team had in 2022. It seems like 2022 sucked and they just decided to go ahead with their plans anyway, and it is coming off as super infuriating and arrogant because of where the team went.

  10. Maybe MLB will put him on leave this Friday- you know, right before pitchers report and buried news-wise by the Super Bowl.

  11. One thing I really hope they improve upon is hitting the cut off man or fielding the relay throw cleanly. I’ve been watching game highlights from last year, and it’s truly amazing how many bad relays the team had. It was rare to see a catcher or SS/2B field a throw cleanly.

  12. Not necessarily. Some MiLB deals have opt outs if a player isn't on the MLB roster by a certain date. Looking at the Pirates roster, this is like a deal that delays the need for them to clear 40-man roster space right away.

  13. My dad in recent years has been buying a suite for family and friends once a year at Sox games. That's basically his big annual party for family once a year. This year, as a protest, he bought a suite to a game.... in Oakland. It's going to be cheaper for us to fly to Oakland (note: we have family out there) for this game... and we're giving money to an OPENLY cheap organization (not an org that will lie to you about it)

  18. It's my understanding they can't put him on admin leave because they haven't paid him yet and players do not get paid during spring training. If MLB doesn't hand down their suspension before pitchers and catchers report next week this asshole is going to spring training and it's gonna be a total s%*# show. At least the cowards will finally be held accountable and step in front of a microphone to explain to their fans how they even signed such a s%*# stain to begin with so I'm all for him reporting to spring training. Let the chaos begin!

  19. Right and for hockey fans, we saw the false accusations that Patrick Kane had to deal with. We need to let this process play itself out.

  20. When I use to work for a living it was hard going to the White Sox games. Now that I'm retired I'm glad to be a season ticket holder. I'm in a 20 game package and I usually go to at least 30 games a year. I'm thankful to be able to do this. I love the team win or lose. Its the only team and only sport I care about and I'm glad to renew every year.

  21. Everybody cites "81 wins" as if it's the definitive and precise mathematical measure of team quality, but let's face it -- there are different ways to get to 81 wins. They were 5 games over and very much in the race going into that September Cleveland series, and frankly took their foot off the gas for several weeks once they lost that first Cleveland series game in a heartbreaker. They were in free-fall for a while after they realized they were out of it. They were probably an 85-win team that fell to .500. A meaningless and negligible difference, really, but then so is the difference between 81 and 83.5. 83.5 seems reasonable. As a sidenote, I love threads like this where neutral, outside reality creeps in to the Soxtalk doom chamber for a moment. The cognitive dissonance can be fascinating to watch. I swear, we could be heading into the ALCS next year and somebody would post that "the people celebrating the ALCS are missing the real point, which is that Rick Hahn failed to sign Zach Wheeler in the 2019 offseason and..."

  22. If you're inclined to bet the under, it's 85.5 on BetRivers. Was 86.5 as of yesterday but clearly some money has been coming in on the under.

  23. There is a pretty big difference between trading Giolito and "blowing the whole thing up". Giolito, and any other expiring asset should be traded if the Sox aren't winning the division or within a couple games as the TDL approaches.
