Soxtalk pod cast and their opinion of Anderson
They lost 101 games because the 'talent' that they have is all on paper, in reality raw 'talent' alone gets you nowhere once at at MLB level you need to also have the right mental attitude and professionalism, something that most of the current squad lack, and equally they lack the leadership at player, coach, manager and GM level to change that attitude.

41% decrease in viewership
I didn't say there wasn't any 'bad luck', I just said there were other more important reasons for last season's showing. Every team suffers bad luck during a 162 game season, and I don't think if Hendricks was fit that the White Sox would have suddenly been a winning team.

41% decrease in viewership
Bad management, bad trading, bad drafting, bad player development, bad attitude and bad basic baseball principles were also factors, you don't lose 100 games and stink out the season just because of bad luck.

Getz
No, it's an unfounded rumour that he's qualified for the job!

They Gone - lots of coaching changes
Genuine question, but how much difference does the hitting coach actually make to established MLB players like Moncada, Jiminez, Anderson etc? And do you actually think those players are actually open to or capable of change?

White Sox claim Alex Speas from Rangers
I suppose you are right and its not as if they are going to challenge next season anyway, they need healthy bodies to pitch innings. And relievers may be important next year as the starting rotation looks a bit bleak.

White Sox claim Alex Speas from Rangers
The Getz 'rebuild'/'retool' starts! Just like Hahn he is searching the bins out back of other stadiums in order to build a team.

Chicago White Sox Final 2023 Fangraph Numbers
The season looks even more depressing when broken down into stats than it was watching it.

TA willing to Move to Second Base
That is all the White Sox are reduced to at the moment, hoping the 'core' will bounce back and picking up a few players who will also be 'looking to bounce back', the result will sadly be all too predictable.

TA willing to Move to Second Base
For $14 million I will happily give it a go as well!

Fegan writes "coaching changes..."
What is the point of "coaching changes" if the head coach/manager who supervised this disaster of a season remains? It's not as though everyone, or anyone, thinks Grifol did a good job and was only held back by poor coaches, it's not as if anyone even thinks he did an average job. He took a team led last season by a senile drunk to a .500 finish and made it even worse. They looked absolutely clueless most of the time and certainly didn't look like they were trying hard for the manager.

Fire Pedro Grifol
After the game Grifol said of this season it was “Frustrating. Educational. Somewhat embarrassed,” Grifol said. “But hungry and committed to get it right.” If losing 101 games with a team supposedly in its 'championship window' is only somewhat embarrassing, what on earth would it take for him to be embarrassed enough to resign.

9/30- Sox vs Padres, 100 Losses!
Don't worry Grifol will be back next season despite losing 100 games!

Fire Chris Getz
It would be handy if we had a manager and coaches who could help them improve but that may be asking too much of Pedro and co.

Fire Pedro Grifol
Agreed, its not as if they are anywhere near competing in 2024 so why waste a year of a good manager. My only concern is the way that Pedro seems to handle the younger players, not one of the young players who has joined the MLB team this season has been any good, and don't look like they are learning anything, in fact if anything they are getting worse. Added to that they way they are often brought up and sent down many times, and seem to be the only ones he 'holds accountable'.

Getz goes into detail...
“Pedro came into a tough situation with the disappointment of 2022" said Getz. Yep he came into a tough situation and made it worse, if 2022 was a 'disappointment' then what was the sh*tshow of 2023?

Getz goes into detail...
“These last couple of weeks of the season, I need to spend more time with Pedro, the coaching staff and the players just to learn more about areas that we need to get better,” Getz said. Learn more about areas we need to get better, that would be pitching, hitting fielding, trading, drafting, player development, have I missed anything?

9/5 Sox@Royals
It is difficult to tell if they are doing this on purpose as they have been doing this all season.

Fire Pedro Grifol
This thread will still be running this time next year!
-
It’s official - Getz named SVP & GM
When will the first win of the Getz era happen? Surely against the Royals!

Moncada finally admits his preparation needs to change…beginning this offseason (ofc he will be a FA)
All the more reason to be thoroughly professional and prepare properly.

9/1 Gamethread Toussaint v. Rodriguez
Good to see the Getz era starting as it means to carry on.

Fire Chris Getz
With the statements in JR's interview I think it is fair to say that any GM would struggle let alone an inexperienced over promoted one. Getz may be better than Hahn or he may be worse, but until JR is no longer owner whoever is trying to GM will have one or even both hands tied behind his back.

Looking for any positives
I did nearly include Moncada in the list as he seems good at the moment, but it very much depends if his back problems are actually sorted or just temporarily less of an issue. His contract aside, having a fit and healthy Moncada next season playing like this will be very useful. Eloy's fitness will always be an issue but he has been better this season.

Looking for any positives
But at least he doesn't look completely lost like he did when called up before.
