With all due respect to Houser, whose brief time as a Sox I sincerely enjoyed...if I was a Cubs fan tonight, hearing that Adrian Houser was the "really tried, just missed" addition would just piss me off. Houser is the guy they should have gotten after their actual "really tried, just missed" SP fell through.

That's obviously why they've decided to double up the run production.

Interesting note on Mead...he's RH but it looks like he has fairly strong reverse splits this season. .807 OPS vs. RHP in his relatively small MLB sample size this season (.562 vs. LHP), less drastic but still reverse splits in AAA too. Might change where he fits in the IF mix if it's not a pure platoon situation. Though last season he had a .849 OPS vs. LHP in the bigs and was brutal vs. RHP.
