we are getting obliterated in the field position game....has grossman completed a pass for positive yardage since the first drive?
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) They are giving up that 10-12 yard over the middle pass again... we haven't even made collins move his feat ..... f***ing nate vasher has been so bad this year...i dont think its gonna be too long before his spot is gone
-
collins already at a season high for passing....
-
boy oh boy rex looks bad.....dumb penalties and lack of any passing game are really putting our field position in a tough spot

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Dotel career save numbers...most of them prior to surgery when he had a 94-97 MPH fastball with the Astros and A's. 83 saves 36 blown saves Conversion rate=69.7% I don't expect anything higher than 70% out of Dotel, not after the way he pitched last season for us in many critical situations. thats extremely misleading because dotel has spent so much time as a middle reliever....middle relievers are eligible to get blown saves in 7th or 8th innings, but obviously almost never pitch the 9th, thus never get the actual save

brutal pass interference call keeps an iowa drive alive.... and it cost PSU the game -
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 03:45 AM) He'll waive it to be in the Padres starting rotation, as there would likely be no spot for him in the Cubs rotation this upcoming season. hey at least theres some good news http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3687712

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) There is a very real chance that in four to eight years we will have a president of Indian descent in Bobby Jindal they were interviewing him on one of the news channels (probably fox but i can't remember) last night ....sounded like he'll run for sure as he said hes going to do some campaigning "for other candidates" in iowa in the coming months...i think he's a smart guy and a good speaker, but he's pretty far right on some social issues that may hurt him

QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) The timing with Palin was a mistake. If the party gave her four years to polish and prepare, she could have kicked ass. As things are working out, getting her into that Senate seat for example would have given her about the same prep as Obama, with Governor for a day or so tossed in. I fear this probably ruined her national career. I had secretly hoped McCain would have found a cross over Dem to join him. yeah, it was a bad pick...they tried to kill 2 birds with one stone by picking a person who would win the far right, and hopefully also draw some independents women and/or hillary voters....the problem is she drove the hillary voters away, and the far right was gonna vote for mccain either way in retrospect the best candidate probably would have been mitt romney, as he likely would have been able to help sway alot of independents to mccain's side when the economy went to hell

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) JFK wanted a man on the moon in 10 years and we accomplished it. I think we have the brains to get this accomplished as well. point taken, but IMO theres a big differnce in developing technology for one machine with absurd funding vs. developing cost effective technology that will change the way virtually the entire nation and every single person uses energy ....don't get me wrong, breaking our dependence on foreign oil would solve so many problems and i'd love to see it happen as soon as possible (and being actively involved in scientific research, i always wonder what the epiphany of discovering alternative fuel technologies would be like)...but i think by putting time frames on it from now on, obama is only hurting himself by giving opponents something to throw back at him if those time frames aren't met
-
i agree with you guys on the energy stuff, and breaking the addiction on foreign oil...but that type of stuff is dependent on technology, so to put a time frame on it isnt reasonable IMO....i understand he can help to redistribute more funding in those areas, but those are things that will certainly take a much longer time than obama's term (and probably longer than 10 years) to be implemented, even if all the new technologies necessary are developed right now

Who is it gonna be? I trust Blagojevich about as much as I trust Rex Grossman against the Titans this week....

QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 12:44 AM) The economy and Dubya's dismal 6 years doomed him. I believe any major Dem nominee wins tonight. agreed...unpopular president, poor economy, unpopular war and rockstar candidate made it next to impossible for mccain to win...just think if iron mike did run for senator ...how much would that have changed the entire future of this country? who knows, but its possible ditka woulda won

nothing too unexpected so far...as just about everyone knew, looks like it'll be an easy victory for obama...im curious to see how much of all this "change" will actually take place

im very against trading javy if we are trading him just to trade him...im ok with it if we get a fair return in the form of young players and salary relief....not to mention kenny better have another starter lined up because we cannot go into 2009 with just buerhle danks and floyd and then question marks in richard and whoever at 4 and 5....

QUOTE (Saufley @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) Anyone hear Rolen for Javy rumor? thoughts? haven't heard it...im not opposed to rolen...hes on the wrong side of 30 but i think hes only got a year or so left on his deal....hes always a stud in the field (if healthy) and has decent on base and slugging abilities (esp. in our park)...certainly fits KWs grinder mode

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) But...but...it would give us more speed! The scary part is that Ramirez might be worse defensively at SS than Fields is at 3rd and Weeks is at 2nd. yep, i'm not entirely sure why so many people thought Ramirez was so good at 2b, he really wasn't...its unlikely a move to SS would be the best thing....if we trade one of our boppers id actually ideally like to see ramirez in CF, but i dont think thats gonna happen...

i have a 50" panasonic plasma at home and my brothers just bought two new LCDs at their houses and i can honestly say...i have never seen a better picture than the plasma that i have in my life....don't diminish how much the dark levels of a plasma add to the picture...its unreal im not all that in the know about this stuff, but my brother got a TV maybe 3 months ago, and he was telling me it has some sort of capability that it smooths out the jump in between frames so the motion is supposedly more fluid....when watching it, specifically with sports, i found it pretty annoying as it just seems like the motion is digitized and not entirely natural

from baseball america in 2003 From 2004 Evidently fits the grinder mode...

i've never liked B&B....to me the entire show can be summed up by bernstein saying "you are an idiot" to a caller, and Boers making some horrible laughing sound that actually just sounds like hes gasping for air i agree they have the capacity to have an intellectually stimulating sports conversation, but far too often it reverts to them pointlessly trying to make a smart ass joke at every single caller and every single comment...the best sports talk radio in the city happens before 12 on both stations with waddle and silvy, and mully +hanley on 670.....hampton and holmes are ok, but really only for football.....I like that murph talks baseball, but his show and topics are so old and antiquated sometimes, not to mention the corny-ness of the show makes me want to puke sometimes, so i usually end up listening to tirico and van pelt who are at their best talking college and pro football.....I usually listen to MJ&H but can find them annoying at times, but still better than B&B IMO

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 11:28 AM) What a stupid move. Why the hell would you fire a coach four games into a season that way overachieved last year? If he was on thin ice, he should have been fired in the offseason so that a coach could have time to teach his systems to the players over the course of a training camp. Now they have to learn a whole new system 4 games in? Dumb. i know very, very little about hockey, but this was exactly my thoughts as well....if you are sticking with a coach through the offseason, i would imagine you would be willing to stick with him after a 1-3 start. i mean lets say they beat nashville in OT and they are 2-2.....is he fired? if so, then they should have gotten someone else during the offseason, and if not, is 1 OT loss really gonna determine whether a guy was fired or not?
