@BigHurt3515 it's less than we'll send to Ukraine. Less than many business bailouts. Most of that money will be spent on taxable expenditures which will roll into businesses and eventually fund state and local governments. Money always flows towards money. The rich get richer and the government gets bigger. It is more efficient to just give it to the government and businesses directly, but with this the population gets to touch it for a moment.

My job has me listening to 20 to 30 college recruiting pitches each year. I understand the additional tech and modern upgrades that cost colleges and get passed on. But what has also inflated tuition are the resort amenities that have been built to attract college students. Dorms are bigger and nicer. Pools are connected to lazy rivers. The health club fitness centers are state of the art. Colleges have to upgrade to compete. Combined with easy credit and many universities could keep raises rates and keep growing in enrollment. I'm hoping Biden can get free K-14 passed. Community college cost structures aren't much different than high schools. It's just extending public education two years. Increase Pell grants to 1970 levels in regards to percentage of cost covered. And maybe we can regain world class status.
  3. If I had a guess there would be a graduated plan so that those at $125,000 to say $150,000 would have 80% forgiven and so on. Lots of married voters earning over $125,000.
  4. I teach this. By law, typically in June, Congress sets the rates based on the Treasury note auction in May. That might not be as helpful to borrowers as it appears. Over the past decades college costs have risen as fast as loan money has become available. Basically if rates went to zero, in theory students could borrow more, so universities would award their professors huge raises* and adjust tuition. *More likely they will improve the eye candy with better cafeteria, resort pools, and other entertainment options. The net would be same payments with more debt.
  5. Sorry it was just the first couple of series. Perhaps as late as the Boston sweep but that just got them back to .500. But my main point is where did you predict the Sox to finish based on the opening day roster? Hahn put together a roster that most everyone predicted would easily win the division and probably go a round or two in the playoffs. And not just fans here, but writers, and professional odds makers. I'm fine with cleaning house but Tony gets me pissed off enough that I just don't have any extra give a craps to really throw shade at Hahn. In the dramatic turnabout factors I would rank replacing Hahn a distant fifth after Staying healthy / New manager (tie) Healthy but steep decline players Hahn.
  6. I personally keep cycling back to Hahn had built a roster that most fans and professionals thought would easily win their division and advance in the playoffs. Vegas didn't become Vegas by setting bad lines and the Sox were favorites pre season. After the first month they looked like WS possibilities. I understand folks wanting him to quit or resign. I'm not going to put any effort into defending him. For me there just isn't enough give a crap after my frustration with Tony to care if he stays or goes. Injuries and Tony are a much bigger problem than Hahn imho.
  7. X2 everything @southsider2k5 wrote. I don't have much to add except. . . It would appear that Hahn doesn't even report to JR, Kenny does. So the decision was made two levels above him. Management employees in all industries have hiring decisions forced upon them. If hiring Tony is the worst thing the organization ever does against his wishes, it's a great job.
  8. Which is why we need to fire Hahn for putting that collection of young talent together.
  9. Who are you thinking that can play short, second, and all outfield positions? The question isn't defending Leury, more condemning a farm system that's bare.
  10. I think there are two issues here. One, sending him was too aggressive in that situation. But that's Sox baseball and what should have been expected. The bigger issue is seemingly half the roster can't run without getting injured. First, home, doesn't matter. Fragile athletes. B
  11. ? Don't forget to tip the servers.
  12. I'm kinda glad this was blacked out.
  13. Abreu sucked up all the play through pain air in the clubhouse.
  14. Here we go. Stuck in a coaching meeting until 4 so it will be sneaking peaks.
  15. Gotta try anything. Need me MLB ready depth.
  16. Or isn't going to make it public. Praise in public, kick ass in private.
  17. This is the biggest game of the season after the August 16 game against Houston.
  18. Sorry I loaned my phone to TLR and he started posting. I should have locked it.
  19. He probably needs a rest anyhow. And what are the chances of Moncada have three good games in a row? And moving Sosa into the second spot could help him out of his slump.
  20. He already has a lifetime contract.

By my count I've had four hours of active shooter training in two days. More than any other subject. Lots of new plans, policies, and procedures. I've heard the phrase Uvalde changed everything a dozen times. Ah, why didn't Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Santa Fe, Virginia Tech, UT, etc etc change everything? Why wait until it happens in your neighborhood to react?
  22. Anyone want to start a Hire Tony chant today? Me neither ?
  23. Craziest shit. I fell asleep and woke up and thought I read the Sox beat the Astros with Sheets, Moncada, and Harrison lol having the big hits. I immediately checked myself into rehab.
