I just love being back in Chicago in the winter and have the Bears be relevant. I'll take "not as good as their record" arguments over "they aren't as bad as their record".

After you find and develop you have to use them to your advantage. Sometimes it's play them, sometimes it's trade them. It seems premature to trade him, but it's literally the only position that is above average today.

The alternative is trade where they aren't set which wouldn't fetch much. The question becomes is thin set in two positions better than thick set in one? I'm addition to the we can't actually win a trade very often.

Very true. Years ago I would say both Chicago teams had about the same loyal fan base and the attendance difference each year were the casual fan that would go to a game once or twice a year, but some years maybe go to Six Flags or something else. I don't believe that is true anymore. The Cubs have a much bigger loyal fan base that will go to Wrigley to see a game no matter their record. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it probably was a factor in pushing JR to sell. At least on my case once I stopped planning every summer trip around the Sox schedule it gets harder to imagine ever doing that again.

That also. I can't imagine taking a family to the game.

The days of people going to a MLB game because baseball is great to watch in person is over. Society is a win and we watch, lose and we'll go do something else. There are way more options. With as easy as it is to watch out of town games, I think which teams people follow will become more transient. Plus as a society people more willing to move from their hometowns.

Which is a solid business strategy. One voice.

Option one is finding a roommate (s) to share expenses. It's tough to make that a full time situation.

SS2k5 makes a great point that there are only 30 jobs available and you probably have to take one anywhere when you get a chance, but I think anyone in that position is going to think long and hard before moving to the Sox. Of all the friends and family Tony brought in I thought Katz (the weakest family link) and Duncan (biggest family hire) were the best moves.

I'm not surprised that Katz hasn't found a position in two months. He was a friends and family hire by Tony and he coached the worst team in history. The Sox stink will cling to him for a while. I see him at a good college, perhaps as the manager.

That's why I listed it first. It is an interesting career choice. If you are in a great organization to you wait your turn, or jump?

You get a job offer from the White Sox and accept. Why? Desperate to stay at the MLB level? Promotion to a position that no one else will give you? You believe it can be a stepping stone to a better organization? It's a great organization with stability, great facilities, an owner is trying to win, lots of resources, and you just picked up for your second DUI? Maybe, eventually this will stop being the place careers go to die. But I can't imagine anyone telling their agent, see if you can get me into the (white) Sox organization.

The brilliance of being the worst organization in baseball is you can take from any team and it's an upgrade.

In public funded stadium news San Antonio voters approved money for a new Spurs Stadium. That will mean San Antonio will have three stadiums in current operation that have all hosted NBA games and meet current NBA standards. We would easily approve a NFL training facility or a MLB stadium.

I think it is fair to expect an owner to recruit a front office that can put together a winning program. So that's basically the baseline of competency for me. He has consistently failed at that for decades. He's failed at what I believe is the minimum to pass.
