  1. Somehow despite knowing Iriarte was who they traded for, I searched for Berrora when checking the DL info. I edited that post cause yeah, that was stupid.
  2. I figure I'll just make this now cause we're already boggled by decisions and Opening Day hasn't even started
  3. Also while we're at it, the Cease trade: Soft-throwing righty that needed Tommy John Hard-throwing righty with control issues that needed Tommy John 30-year-old reliever that has been DFA'd Young CF prospect, but didn't hit above .200 at A+ ball "Best package offered" EDIT: Got Berroa and Iriarte mixed up. I've got my issues with Iriarte, but he is obviously a lot higher ceiling than Berroa.
  4. Something something new, stellar hires something something revamping the org. Either these hires actually suck or they've just made a solid year and a half of bad decisions due to bad luck.
  5. I keep thinking about Jeff Cohen's tweet from a while ago (Jeff is a great follow, for what it's worth). The guys in Chicago (outside of Benintendi and Robert) are the glorified taxi squad. So what the f*** is Charlotte? *Obviously the pitching part of his tweet got decimated by injuries/continued bad after a month + the infield will be fun to follow. I'm strictly talking about the OF here.
  6. There is no answer for this that makes a modicum of sense. Taylor and Jankowski can't hit their way out of a paper bag.
  7. I legitimately think they fell in love with his catch last year and were like "we must have this man."
  8. The White Sox as constructed aren't a major league team.
  9. Idk man, Chris Getz might end up with the worst winning percentage in history at the guaranteed rate we're going. Getz's strategy for rebuilding is to keep playing older players in favor of guys under 30 that have control.
  10. I can't see an argument for carrying Slater, Tauchman, Jankowski and Taylor over DeLoach, Fletcher and Colas.
  11. Chris Getz decided to sign a bunch of vets that didn't raise the bar and got injured and to remedy the latter issue he signed more bad vets. Absolutely genius at work. Truly, its like watching Michaelangelo on speed.
  12. Not sure if anyone is surprised, but the Athletic ranked the Sox rotation last
  13. Cause the org taking the high ground on character rings hollower than a Chris Getz promise.
  14. I understand how this was incredibly stupid but, once again, this argument gets thrown out the window when you consider the fact that Getz has twice signed Clevinger despite the injuries and off field issues.
  15. They aren't the paragons of character and passion the Sox look for, like Mike Clevinger
  16. For real, Hahn loved him some prospects that lost their shine. They basically never worked out (except like, Eaton and McCann) but if Getz is making an uber-development staff, he should be going after these guys instead of building a a retirement home.
  17. Coby White chants in Denver. Best part with his current hot streak is that he's getting to the line a lot. I remember when that was the precursor to Jimmy going from 8th-9th man defensive specialist to All-Star.
  18. And Sheets.
  19. Crunching the numbers, his GPA from the board is a 66.5%, so squarely a D. Considering that's double their winning percentage from last year, I think he's being judged fairly.
  20. Again, touche and I'm now gonna move the goalpost (and I acknowledge that): Dombrowski also won a World Series 6 years earlier. He did have one of the biggest disaster trades of all time as Expos GM(Randy Johnson), but he was someone with bona fides. Now, to give Getz a point back: Dombrowski also had an owner that was basically the opposite of Jerry when it came to spending.
  21. Touche, I missed his hiring year. If Getz signs a future Hall of Famer next year like Dombrowski, my grade for him will go up.
  22. I'm being generous and giving him a D for these exact same reasons. He doesn't get a honeymoon period cause he was part of the same regime that was an abject failure. His first big swing, the Cease trade, looks like a complete bust right now (unless you really buy into Twitter videos from Samuel Zavala's trainer). He basically duplicated the Sale or Quintana deal - so we're supposed to believe that a guy that was in the org for the last go around can land the plane this time? He's not the first GM in baseball history to walk into a bad situation, but the only GM to match his futility was one in charge of an expansion franchise in the 60s and this is after he talked a big game (that big ol' defense quote), so he failed by his own standards.
  23. What will always remain funny to me is that Burger and Sheets went outside of the org in 2020 (left off the taxi squad, I believe Burger was eventually added) and then made it to the bigs in 2021. Sox should have tried outsourcing player development.
