  1. Whoooo boy. Where to even begin. Fans want a game day experience nowadays, which is why the ballpark villiage concept is thriving. The fucking Cubs, who've enjoyed the benefits of the neighborhood for decades, even build their own. If that doesn't prove the point, I don't know what will. I live in Bridgeport, and there is less to do here now than there has been in years past. I've always wanted to see the area around the park developed to give fans more of an experience right here, but that's just never going to happen at 35th & Shields. As for the sea of empty lots, almost ANYTHING would be a better use of the land, which sits empty except for a few hours, 81 days out of the year. Nicole Lee was in fact elected after being appointed to finish out Patrick Daley Thompson's previous term. She was appointed by Lori Lightfoot in 2022, and won the 11th ward in the 2023 Chicago election. The White Sox are a major employer on the Southside? For 81 games a year? Where in the f*** did you come up with that nonsense? 35th & Shields is a ghost town on off days, away games, and during the offseason. Not exactly feeding the local economy or providing gainful employement to any of the locals. Also, nothing stops the White Sox org from continuing any charitable work or investment in the Southside after moving a few miles north. We aren't talking about a major relocation that would sever ties to the Southside. I get that your whole bit is to be contrarian, but maybe get your facts straight and quit parroting the mistruths others post here.
  2. Completely agree. He was an easy non-tender last winter and after a month he remains a DFA candidate. I just don't think Getz will admit to another pricy mistake yet.
  3. And they wanted to hand him the OD starting SS job...
  4. He'll definitely get a leash longer than a month with his arb number, whether it is deserved or not. I might be projecting, but Captain Panic needs a player win and he can't go admitting a pricy mistake so soon, so unfortunately we are all stuck with Vaughn sucking.
  5. Getz didn't draft him, but he did waste nearly $6M on him after a lengthy track record of him being bad. I think the latter has more to do with why he's still here.
  6. The 1st Amendment also doesn't protect an individual from the consequence of their own statements, be it in the workplace or on an internet forum. It also doesn't give one permission to lie with impunity nor does it entitle one to to expect their lies and mistatements to be taken at face value or as fact.
  7. Ooof. Pretty sure I was at that game. I definitely remember it feeling like Ozzie giving the org the middle finger.
  8. New Hat>>the Chi city connect. But the jerseys look like a cheap lazy Bulls themed giveaway. I know Nike is mostly to blame but these are so hideously amateur hour.
  9. Completely agree. He's the type of guy we should be taking a chance on. I just find it amusing that the Cubs chose a shitty Nicky Lopez instead.
  10. We can only hope to be done with Maton, but I have no doubt we'll see him in Chicago again soon enough.
  11. So Getz grabbed the guy the Cubs DFA'd in order to sign Nicky Lopez. Huh.
  12. Oh hale Better not to ask...
  13. Subracting one from infinity doesn't really improve things.
  14. Trading him before the 2026 deadline would be premature. I dont think he'd garner enough in return without a longer track record. I have no idea how they are going to bridge the chasm between now and when anyone they can draft & develop could be ready, but trading Smith doesnt really solve any of that.
  15. True. It is hard to top historically bad due to sheer incompetence.
  16. Sure. Everybody hates Chris. What a delusional bullshit post.
  17. Imagine if they actually tried to be bad 😵
  18. How dare you use the very words I typed against me? HOW DARE YOU!!!
  19. Win? I don't think the org is familiar with that term.
  20. That 10th pick is a kick in the nethers. Not that I trust them to make the right pick at the top of in the draft...
  21. Small market team + comp picks.
  22. Normal bad, not historically bad.
  23. When Nick Maton is your DH, AB's aren't in short supply.
  24. Yes it's a manager gig, but somebody had to tell him taking the job would be career suicide, right?
