Meanwhile Jerry had a team in first place, coming off an AL West title and an ALCS berth, with the regining AL MVP in the prime of his HOF career, the reigning Cy Young winner, with a legit shot at reaching the World Series, and he shut it all down over money. Winning doesn't matter if it costs too much.

I can see 4 guaranteed with a few options. His body type typically doesn’t age well, and even if he were the outlier, it’s still a tough gamble. He’s a good but not great player, and I don’t see teams paying for front end production that doesn’t outweigh paying for the backend decline.
