  1. It is one thing to have power but to hit bombs in clutch game situations...that is something else...that is what Eloy has done.
  2. Kopech has Closer stuff.
  3. Eloy can play wherever the fvk he wants. So Sorry.
  4. Sheet music! Goodbye Goodwin!
  5. He is slow no matter where you play him. Extremely slow.
  6. We've got time to come back if Cease gets it together.
  7. Vaughn made easy plays out of fly balls. Hard line drives that he has to come in on....not so much. He is a first basemen/ DH.
  8. Eloy GUNS him down easy@!
  9. The lead-off walk scores.
  10. Don't throw him a fastball on 3-2..
  11. Should have had at least one run there to take some pressure off Cease.
  12. Eloy once again does something positive and does not get hurt !
  13. Vaughn is a great hitter.
  14. Now lets have some Sheet music!
  15. Eloy brings Joy!
  16. Steady defense in first Inning by Eloy and Abreu. Let's get a few runs to back up Cease.
  17. It's gonna work.
  18. Nice call Ron.
  19. The narrative about Eloy's injury has been exaggerated and promoted incessantly. His injury reaching over a fence was a freak, one-time accident in an unusual circumstance. So was his injury celebrating after a victory or one running the bases. You can add up the injuries that Grandal or other players have had and make a similar list. Anyway, he will play some games in Left Field so i guess some will be disappointed while others will wait until Eloy twists and ankle or bruises his knee and is out for a week so that they can say "I told you so." Me, I am glad he is back and can't wait to see him playing next to his friend and fellow countryman, Luis Robert. The two have a friendship and chemistry out there that is entertaining to watch.
  20. That is a good point. Indeed, sometimes a star player has a lot to say about where they play, or in the case of Eloy, don't play in the field. Trea though has played in the outfield for 80 major league games so it would not be a stretch. It's probably a moot point because people are psyched about Vaughn after his his current hitting streak. If he was in a mid-season slump he might be viewed as tradeable.
  21. I would not offer Vaughn but assuming arguendo you had a deal = Trea for Vaughn. You then acquire Escobar or another rental for the balance of 2021 to play. 2B. in 2022 you either sign Trea for a few years or let him go to arbitration, but he is on the roster. Trea has played many games in CF and is one of the leagues fastest players. So you potentially have 4-5 outfielders - Cespedes, Colas, Robert and Eloy and Trea Plus you have Madrigal back at second base. If Rodon can be extended you are virtually guaranteed another play-off appearance.
  22. The Nats waited too long to get equivalent value in any trade for Trea. Sox would pick up the balance of his '21 salary ($6.5 Mil.) plus a bucket of balls. OK, they can have ReyLo back....and Adam Eaton if they can find him.
  23. The Sox have Colas and Cespedes coming as early as next season and maybe another option in the off-season or maybe even as soon as the trade deadline. Vaughn is like Kyle Schwarber was 5 years ago. Like Schwarber, Vaughn is gonna box out some and gain some muscle and weight...and get older and slower. I will bet money that he is the slowest player in the line-up right now, except when Lynn is hitting in NL games. How fast does Fangraphs have Vaughn in the 40 yard dash? I find it interesting that some people who do not go to many games and see these players perform on the field make judgments primarily relying on stats like Fangraphs. Go out and watch a few games and trust what you see for yourself, not what Steve Stone tells you.
  24. Defensive stats be damned. Bottom line is that Vaughn is slow at 24 years old and is not going to get any faster or taller. He has a large torso and a pretty large shoe size.. Irrelevant if he is at 1B or DH. As far as injuries. Vaughn almost mowed down TA on two or three plays where he ran toward him with about 100 choppy steps to catch a short fly ball. Schwarber posed a similar risk when he used to play left for the Cubs. The question of whether Eloy is a long term solution in LF is a separate issue. Arguing that Eloy or Vaughn is better or worse than the other at defense is a pretty lame way to justify that either one belongs out there long term. The issue that does warrant conversation is who gets to play every day, Abreu, Eloy or Vaughn once the Sox have better options in the outfield. I'd be happy with Abreu at 1B at Eloy at DH.
