The only downside to Adley is I an already picture ron coming with the worst nickname.

When he goes 0-3 in his MLB debut, that one Goober guy will start calling him "Badley"

Whenever you want, preferably in another thread so that the rest of us don't have to read it in one designed to talk about next month's draft.

  • Andrew Vaughn = Paul Konerko CJ Abrams = Micah Johnson ....or Ozzie Guillen Like, that's really the extent of the talent evaluation you just did.

    Good contribution. Thanks.

Yes, to me Vaughn is the clear cut #2 prospect in this draft, but Adley has that catcher risked attached to him which always worries me. Still, I think they are clearly above the rest.

You and Law present a very compelling argument. If you guys are right, I'm on the "Vaughn Train".

So, here is my dream team for the 2021 Division winning Sox:

SS Anderson

2B Madrigal

3B  Moncada

LF  Eloy

1B  Vaughn

RF  (A Left Handed Power Hitter. This lineup cannot be effective with just one LH bat. I have no idea who that would be)

DH Abreu

C   McCann

CF  Robert

The problem with this is that that's genius

Drafting a name that can have bad (we), sad (we) and mad (we) easily incorporated is meatball nirvana

Really interesting Draft post went up at FanGraphs.  Very good read on some draft strategies/proclivities/trends as well as grouping up certain player archetypes and breaking down the differences of particular players that fall within them.

Im for Rutschman or Vaughn.

Can’t we just hack the Astros internal communication software and pick whoever they rate highest for each round?

No. That gets one banned from baseball

Some misconceptions in here IMO.

Ken Williams has always been involved. He's the EVP of the organization.

NIck Hostetler loves high school players. He learned under John Schuerholtz.

Just imagine a Moncada/Anderson/Madrigal/Vaughn infield.

???

I'd rather have Collins at 1B and Rutschman at C. ;)

I'm cool with that too. I just think the Sox would be foolish to pass on Vaughn in favor of Abrams. But I would absolutely take Rutschman over anyone if he's still there at #3 by some miracle.

Actions speak louder than words or lineage when it comes to Hotetler.

His hit tool grades higher than every power hitting prospect not named Vlad Jr.

Yeah, that doesn't automatically mean he will hit .300.  Wasn't Madrigal's calling card his hit tool?  And I don't mean to rag on him, just demonstrating that it isn't always that easy.

Based on his performance in our org I think that Madrigal generally seems to have an excellent hit tool, he continues to make contact at ridiculous rates while still taking walks/working deep into accounts.

His problem has been that the power tool is so weak/poorly developed that it is dragging his hit tool down with it. If it was just "poor" so far then Madrigal would be coming off as a strong bat, and if he can just get it up to "poor" then suddenly he looks like at least a big leaguer.

very interesting.  no rh Hitting first baseman drafted top 10 in almost 30 years.

the Sox won't take him: my prediction. although I'm going I'm wrong.

It is interesting.  I also find it interesting that some of the very best hitters in the game over that period are RH 1B.

Wow, that is just crazy to me. He is a 6'4" lefty running plus to plus-plus times with 100+ mph exit velos and a strong arm in the outfield. This is a comment from PBR from ~6 weeks ago:

Cody Bellinger anyone ?

Or Ashley

Lol. Hostetler mentioned going to Portland Maine in today's interview during the White Sox game. That's where Trejyn Fletcher plays, who a few folks have mentioned recently.
