The Sox are not serious contenders until there is a legitimate, breathing human being as manager.

It’s really astonishing how Management got in the way this year from the hiring of the manager to the awful trade made at the deadline

Rodon’s condition was the worst part of today… and that says a LOT.

Bad day beyond the loss on the field. We don't know if we'll have a good Rodon in October, Kimbrel sucked again so who knows when he'll ever get back to being good, and Hernandez basically cost us the game by playing horrendous defense. Hahn's deadline has been a massive failure. Nothing we've seen so far suggests that Kimbrel and Hernandez will contribute positively in October.

Imagine giving up two solid pieces for the right to pay a closer coming off two bad years 16 million dollars to be your set up man.

I've been worried for awhile that when the time came, Hahn would trade away the wrong guys....might've happened here and for not only a shitty return, but maybe a devastating return that hurts the team.

Tony is all on Jerry and the awful trades are all Rick Hahn. Truly a wonderful job all around to help hold back what should be a juggernaut team.

Bryant is/was literally the perfect player for this team and he went for 25% of what the Sox gave up for Kimbrel. It will never make sense to me how the Sox didn't end up with him.

I’ve heard rumblings they didn’t make him available to the Sox

Well....22 million in options not to exercise in the offseason, come on down <Insert RFer or 2B here>!

Knowing this organization they will fiddle fuck their way in filling  both positions next season and will be searching for answers at both yet again

And it was so easy. Trade for Escobar and bryant and Iglesias if you really wanted a reliever and it likely would have cost less than the price they paid for the three they got.

Relievers are so volatile except for a couple of the best of the best in their primes. Kimbrel had already shown major regression over 4 years..he had one nice 30 inning stretch. Ill never get over the fact that we could have had Kimbrel for FREE in the off season and the cubs would have likely paid a little salary to trade him. 3 months later were trading two nice pieces and paying the bill..unreal

I still want to know what else they would have had to add to get Trea Turner

Time to start putting the regular lineup out there everyday to get this team in rhythm.  If Jose is at first this game, the Sox win.

Right on.  Even Grandal at first would have made that play.  We would not have had Goodwin at bat making the last out.  Kimbrel has been hurt by hitting batters and walks.  Can’t afford that in late close games.  Sox should also look at how the Tigers and Rangers had runners in motion against the Sox, which tonight led to the winning run.  Need to do more of that.
