Their 40 man decisions are going to be interesting.  They’ve got like 20 guys in camp who will not be in baseball in 2 years.  If your 40 man includes Pillar, Chavez, Shaw to along with Stassi and Maldonado, they’ll have the oldest roster in the division and they’ll have to cut a bunch of guys to get to 40, let alone 165.  Maybe it will get them closer to 75 wins?  But if these guys prove to be washed up, their overall talent level will really crater because they had to release some of their potential replacements.

I’m not thrilled about the talent level of most of the acquisitions this winter, but it feels like all these scrap heap additions are being made with professionalism as a major part of their skill set. We had a bad mix last year for whatever reason - lacking leadership and cohesiveness. Hopefully this reset of the clubhouse culture leads to some positive results.

Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle with a few and have some trade fodder at the deadline. Or, dare I say, actually compete. Must be spring training if I’m feeling any level of positivity.

The Royals lost more games than the Sox this past season...and yet every one of their moves have been about competing THIS season rather than kicking the bucket down the road.

Their lack of talent plan is to have cast-offs compete for jobs. That won't even get you to Opening Day. They could do better hoping some Dodgers end up in the wrong clubhouse.
