Exactly. With increased velocity, guys can't stick as long as they used to. Both pitchers blowing their arms out, and hitters unable to catch up to gas. Abreu is listed at 37, who knows how old he really is.

June 14, 20241 yr Is the Rate constructed on a radioactive waste dump or an Indian Burial Ground or something? It’s not just the guys they kept who sucked. The guys no longer with the team suck too. ReyLo is like the only one who escaped the curse.

I sort of agree with the sentiment (don't sign a free agent 1B this offseason!), at the same time 1B/DH is exactly where you stick aging guys because they can't play the field anymore. It's probably just as fair to say that 30+-year-old athletes don't age well.

This will be a disasterous contract (my prediction anyway).

June 15, 20241 yr I'm still struggling with his 3 year contract. What in the world made the Houston GM think that was necessary to sign him. This re-convinces me that most GMs are not very bright. Who advised him a year and a half ago?
