Can't see this happening. This is Boras posturing trying to drive up more interest.

See A-Rod to the White Sox...hard to drive up that final offer without the perception of 2-3 bidders.

Even the Pirates have thrown out a $120 million offer this December.

Only 10x higher than Kay.

I get that in principle but I feel like that only works when it's a report about an interesting team.

If even we don't believe it as delusional fans, what rational opposing team owner is going to feel threatened by this report?

We really need some White Sox action.  Hopefully things are just slow because Getz & Boras are working out the final details for Bellinger and then the rest of the dominoes will start falling.

It's 9 weeks until voluntary reporting to spring training starts (2/15/26). In that time, I'd say the Sox are still pursuing a SP, "closer", 1B LHH, veteran OF/CF, and there's got to be a good half dozen bullpen arms and utility/3rd-4th chance guys, right? So that's 1-2 signings a week.

We've just had Kay, Rolison, Oliver Done, the 3 Rule 5 picks, Pallette getting picked in the last week. I'd think there'd be any movement before the 2 weeks of holidays.

January 15 is the opening of the 2026 International Signing period.

I 've been hoping that Getz would improve the team this off season. It certainly doesn't look like that is going to happen. If anything I'm expecting Robert Jr to be moved for next to nothing. The Robert Jr move will simply be a salary dump. I hope I'm wrong.

Then why pick up the option?  Either they trade him for some prospect or they hold until the deadline.  I think a worst case scenario is us not eating any money and getting a post hype prospect like Acuna in return.  I don’t think that will happen, but would be very disappointing.

I figure if I keep saying it, it’s bound to eventually come to true right?  That money we’ll save in a Robert trade has to be redeployed elsewhere.

While I can only assuming you're mostly joking (haven't been following closely enough this offseason to know), if you're going to sign Bellinger (or really any player of note), you may as well hold Robert and hope he's healthy and good. It's just money at this point and I'd be surprised if Sox got any notable prospects for him right now. But he's as high an upside $20M flyer as you could find in the league, so I'm holding (yet again).

They’re not signing Bellinger.

Did Bellinger turn 35?  Cuz that’s when the Sox will have a chance at signing him.

Bellinger is still a productive player, no? Meaning he would never sign here unless the offer blew every other out of the water? And we know who still owns the team, so we know that isn't the case.
