I remember when the 2013 white Sox season collapsed Hahn traded for Avi Garcia which Hahn said was the start of a rebuild. The team has gone nowhere in the 6 years Hahn has been the GM. He should thank his lucky stars he still has his job. If he had been the GM in virtually every MLB city he would of been fired by now.

And yes the Sox getting Eloy in a trade was great, but they also gave up a great asset to get him. Getting someone who's likely the number 1 prospect in baseball heading into 2019 for James Shields (let's not forget his last Padres start) is potentially one of those historic trades everyone remembers. I've always said I'm less angry the Sox gave up Tatis than I am them going after Shields anyway. Hahn clearly should have been fired after 2016.

Yoan Moncada went on the DL with a .263 BA and a .868 OPS. He came off of the DL on May 15. By the end of May his average had fallen to .242 with a .756 OPS. His numbers by June 3, or the day before Madrigal was drafted were almost identical. In other words he lost 100 OPS points between coming off of the DL and Madrigals drafting. While the slump has continued PM (Post Madrigal) it was underway long before that happened. I honestly can't believe people think this is a thing.

I missed this over the weekend, but I mean I can sit here and pick out highlights for hours, but the big thing it boils down to is that it has always felt like watching a game with my dad or my grandpa. He feels the game like no another announcer in baseball does. He is mad when something bad happens, he is elated when something great happens. The colorfulness he brings to the game is all but dead in the 21st century as broadcasts get more and more watered down, safe, and non-threatening. It feels like I am losing a life long companion with Hawk retiring for all of the decades and countless hours we have put into together. He is quite literally the soundtrack to some of the favorite memories in my life.

Let’s say Kopech ends up as a good, not great, closer. Let’s say Moncada is out of the league in 5 years. Indeed. It's still not too late. The Shields deal was all Hahn. Hahn learned the game from Kenny Williams. He's the only guy he ever worked for in baseball. Sure he may have wanted to rebuild before Kenny did, but they are aligned. The Shields trade was a lazy effort, similar to Williams' 2012 trades for Liriano and his 5.31 ERA and Myers.

I don't trust this FO and think it is extremely incompetent. Just a few years back Hahn and Williams were talking about some 3 year plan that never came to fruition and/or was abandoned after 2 years. They traded a guy who is the now a top five prospect in all of baseball for James Shields and then decided to switch gears and rebuild. That trade is a fire-able offense in my world. You seem to know what the plan is. Can you please tell me what year the Sox are expecting to compete in? I thought it was 2020, but I might have missed the memo that it got pushed back to 2011. I mean, "grossly negligent" and "extremely careless" don't really matter legally if you aren't charging her with anything. Either is a really bad quote. Both are negative connotations. We're not charging her, but she's lucky we aren't is the conclusion I take away from either quote. If the FBI was in the pocket for Clinton, they would literally have just said, "no charges" and closed the investigation. "To their dismay" is some serious editorializing. I'm sure there were some people who were dismayed that the investigation was reopened, just like the FBI agents that leaked stuff to Nunes and Giuliani during the campaign had a bias. It sure didn't help Clinton though! And like with the ongoing Trump campaign investigation, if the FBI was in the tank for Clinton, they literally would have sat on that until after the election. Since the Russia investigation was ongoing during the campaign, the Liberal FBI was really, really bad at their jobs if they said, "welp, no reason to bring this to light ahead of the election, but we'll REALLY have him if he is elected president and we continue the investigation!" SB said this better than I, but my read of the IG Report matches up with his "If anything I think that all of this has shown that Comey helped Trump because he thought Clinton was going to win and after her win he didnt want the right wing conspiracy groups to say that the FBI helped Clinton."

So... I'm not sure that quote says what you think it says. Even if there WAS bias (more on that in a second) in the handling of Clinton e-mail investigation vs. the Trump/Russia connection prior to the election, one of those things was highly publicized, and the other came to light after the election was over. If an FBI investigation influenced the 2016 election, it was objectively the investigation of Hillary Clinton's e-mails. All of the concern about bias with the Trump/Russia investigation stem from texts and statements prior to the election. In the absence of, I don't know, actual evidence that the Mueller probe is biased (and stop with the all Witch Hunt cries considering the number of indictments that have already come down), the fact that there were some admittedly bad text messages prior to the election has no bearing on the Mueller investigation. Wow, this is great news! However, the Sox must be weary to not trade Abreu for a JD Martinez-like return. The astros are loaded with prospects that they can't seem to find positions to play. Abreu makes a lot of sense for them and they know they have another WS championship caliber team. Give me Tucker + JD Davis for Abreu + ____ (RP?). Am I crazy? PRobably. But I DO NOT trade Abreu just because. As others have stated -- he is the white sox soul. I go to the park to watch Abreu (and moncada). If you are trading Abreu, you need to get a return worthwhile. Bottom line and I don't care what 'standards' are set in place from previous trades.

Trading Abreu would net the Sox about 2 wins in the negative the rest of the way, maybe more depending on what pile of suck replaces him (although it's probably Davidson to 1st, Palka to DH, which might be OK), and move them up a draft spot or two. Something to consider. It's a hard call. It's why GM is a tough ass fucking job. I value Jose, love his professionalism, how he's worked on his body, and so on. I thank him for signing in spring when I saw him and all that he's meant to Chicago in his time here -- but if it's better long term to move him, well, you do it.
