That’s why he shouldn’t be promoted. Those 2 games are more important than the rest of the body of work.5 points

Welp now it turns out that signing Santana wasn't very dumb at all. Rolled the dice, he didn't work out, hardly any money wasted especially given the potential upside of the deal when it was signed.4 points

I’m gonna get a Hostetler dart gun for when people insist on comparing 1 to 1 with the cubs3 points
-
Wow - so basically the Sox only owe him the pro-rated amount of $4.3M, which should be about $425-450k. Not nearly as bad as $4.3M. Also, that was really dumb of Santana.3 points

From practicality standpoint, what exactly does Robert has to gain by beating up inferior competition and putting video game numbers. It stunts his development more than it helps to be frank. If you’re so much bette than your peers at work at what you do, do you actually need to get better at it? Between Fall league, ST, the 20 game sample so far, and scouting videos it’s no question he’s significant better than A+ pitching. Elite MLB prospects has proven themselves in smaller sample size.2 points

McCann has been a pleasant surprise so far. A good Rick Hahn signing.2 points

Never mind. At least, to this point, Manny doesn't make me want to break things.2 points

That is what everyone thought. Turns out he signed the 45 day consent form. Probably why Hahn was somewhat coy when asked about dropping $4.3M on Santana. Basically he said (paraphrasing) that's not for sure. Everyone thought that meant Hahn was saying someone else could pick up Santana, but (obviously) Hahn knew about the advance consent. FWIW - it is not 100% clear to me if Santana accepted his assignment, if the $4.3M would have still been due to him. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/04/white-sox-designate-ervin-santana-for-assignment.html2 points

If Rutschman and Vaughn are gone and the Sox pass on Jr they would be the laughing stock of baseball. I'm confident there is someone in this dumbass organization that will step up and make the right decision.2 points

I'm surprised there hasn't been more conversations about yesterday's game. Friday's come back win was awesome, but what Lopez and the bullpen accomplished was something special. The Sox tied the all time MLB record for strikeouts in a 9 inning game. Lopez set a career high with 14 strikeouts. He's only the third pitcher in history to strikeout at least 14 and give up no earned runs in 6 or more innings. What we saw from Lopez is very encouraging. I obviously don't expect him to come out start after start and pitch like that, but it's got a be a huge confidence builder for him. He certainly has the stuff to be an ace. He had his best stuff along with excellent control yesterday. 70 fastballs thrown, 34 swung at, and only 3 times was the ball put in play. That's pretty damn remarkable.2 points

You keep calling your three reasons solid, and they just aren’t. 1. Anderson is not getting thrown out at second if he tags. Zero chance. Terrible first reason. 2. This reason sucks, too. That ball was not going to fall in the field of play. Was 99% a mythical number? Absolutely. But I was trying to get the point across that that ball was either going to be a home run or be caught. I’m not sure how you could watch that play and think otherwise. Did you notice how Anderson started by going halfway? Then as the LF was starting to settle at the wall, he ran back to tag. That’s because Timmy has baseball instincts, which you clearly don’t. 3. You saved the worst reason for last. And that’s saying a lot, considering how terrible your first two reasons were. You actually think a baserunner should consider whether the runner behind might pass him when determining what to do? Ridiculous. The funniest part about your post is that you said, “Learn baseball and think.” You obviously have no baseball sense.2 points

Back end of our pen is becoming nearly automatic with Herrera and Colome. Great to see.1 point

Now is not the time to make Eloy a DH. The Sox can always do that later. Please stop banging this drum for the time being.1 point

Did you missed the part he was dealing with multiple injuries. It not was reflective of his talent or development. Take a look at what he did against better competition in fall league and spring training after he has healed from injury he has proven capable of handling pitching above A+. His current supernatural performance backs that up.1 point

Agree on the second part but let Robert develop more. If anything, just let Tilson replace Engel.1 point

Yes, he’s been fine. 95 wRC+ with a .172 BABIP which is well below his career average. Meanwhile, Manny has a 92 wRC+ with a BABIP perfectly in line with his career average...1 point

You can just look at his career numbers to know he isn’t keeping this up. His best season was a .733 OPS.1 point

Rick should have assured us that James McCann would be the best hitting catcher in baseball1 point

Herrera, Colome, and McCann all look good — $19 million well spent so far. But the $22+ million he spent on the guys below? Not so much. I guess we will have to circle back to all of their numbers at the end of the year. Nova Alonso Jay Santana1 point

Last thing the Sox should do is move Moncada around again defensively. He is hitting way too well right now.1 point

Time to promote Robert and Madrigal. Move them together. Mitch Roman certainly isn’t blocking anyone in AA.1 point

It's the elbow he had TJ on, I believe. Yes, that was him, but after some time with that he ended up just getting the surgery edit- and this year, he has been exclusively DHing as well1 point

He is facing the Orioles. Let's not get ahead of ourselves1 point

Who are you kidding? Hahn had a pathetic offseason, regardless of saving a few bucks on his awful signing of 36 year old Ervin Santana, whom every other team knew was done. Try to tell me how good Hahn has been with his free agent signings, especially this past offseason please. It’s not trolling when it’s true. The Sox would be on the hook for $4.3 million if Santana wasn’t a moron. I’m waiting...1 point

Not gonna lie, feeling pretty smart right now. ?1 point

He finishes his delivery the same way, his set position in the stretch is the same. And he does the same thing where he walks around and stretches after each pitch. If he can be half the pitcher Q was. ?1 point

Insane. Didn’t even look like he got it well. Just kind of flicked his bat out there and took him out to RF. Kid has insane power. Dare I say he could end up an even better MLB player than Yoan?1 point

Sox should just put him in a cryogenic freezer for a few years. Best way to preserve value.1 point
