  2. Lopez's curve is a much better pitch than his slider. It looks like he's bringing the cutter/curveball combo back. I don't understand why he went away from that as it worked so well last year.

  3. LOL. Gimme a break. You pulled some stats out of your butt and I pointed it out. I didn't say it sucked. If you don't want it pointed out, don't be wrong for no reason. Easy.

  5. I'm VERY hesitant to move Moncada back to second, as he's hitting his stride at 3rd. Anything is possible, but I just don't want to do it to him again.

  8. TA being this good makes me unbelievably happy. Baseball needs guys like him desperately

  9. Love Ricky taking him out. Letting him leave on a high note. Weird seeing Ricky making decent decisions with the starters lately.

  10. I agree. I want them both to have the entire offseason to put any work in that they may need to in order to be successful. It's past time to worry about service time considerations, it's time to maximize their window. It starts next season, IMO. Guys who have a chance to contribute should be up as soon as they're ready.

  11. He's turning into a star before our eyes. Both he and Giolito have made massive turnarounds from last season and it is wonderful.

  12. I didn't "not like" your comment. You asked a leading question and I responded.

  14. They give free stuff to fans. It's fine. It doesn't bother me.

  15. Moncada is locked in. He's striking out a lot less. I can't wait for the upcoming XBH binge.

  16. You said he's been hitting .375. The time frame you stated produced a record of 11 for 37, which is ,297. The time frame you then amended it to gave a record of 11 for 33. To hit .375, it'd need to be 11 for 29 (which is .379). You were off by four at bats, even on your second attempt. Don't be off by four at bats. I've loved this team since I was six. I will always root for this team. I want this team to be GREAT. The thing is...the management consistently makes this team bad. They've failed for ten years to anything. I wouldn't last ten years at my job if I sucked at it. Why should we give them ANY leeway? To make this franchise good, which is probably the thing I want most on this planet after the health and wealth of myself, my wife, and my kids, I think somebody else should be running the show. Hating Rick Hahn, Kenny Williams, Jerry Reinsdorf, and Rick Renteria does not make me an unsuitable Sox fan.

  17. I pulled stats "out of my butt?" I was off by ONE at bat. That's some serious skill and my anus must be pretty lucky. Honest to god dude, you're completely miserable. You come onto this forum daily and act foolish by making ridiculous claims and predictions. You clearly can't stand anything that's going on with this organization, so why even bother?

  18. I wish people would actually be informed before they personally insult others. I'm biased being in the field and knowing these guys but seriously. The primary job of the people you are insulting to to work with them AFTER injuries happen. They work with the strength and conditioning group to help prevent injuries However, they can't prevent them. They may be having issues trying to rehab them as well but if that's the case do your research and put the physicians in there as well as the athletic trainers follow their orders as well.

  19. "Is Cease going to be call-" "I'm sorry, can I interrupt you for a second? I just wanted to say the rumors are true: I am the worst manager in baseball. Wanted to let everyone know. Thanks" Amazing.

  23. This melodramatic narrative with Cease really needs to stop. Nobody is losing on purpose - certainly not at this point. Cease has been in AAA for a grand total of 3 months. He still can't get his control down, he falls behind hitters, walks them frequently, jacks his pitch count up and hardly ever lasts past the 5th inning at that level. This is not some grave injustice. His progress is coming along fine and he's made progress in his last few starts. However, he is most certainly not dominating at that level. Not rushing a player who is still experiencing struggles early on into AAA is FAR from being an asinine thought process.

  25. Up to 2.2 fWAR, slashing .294/.348/.508/.856 with a 129 wRC+, and an xwOBA/wOBA ratio that suggests it's not a fluke. A small part of me misses arguing with people who thought he was a bust after one average season.

  26. Yeah, one where he's sent to a team for a PTBNL and immediately sent to that organization's AAA team

  28. Madrigal actually should have walked that at bat. Got jobbed on a very bad strike call. He's locked in. Done alot of damage today being behind in the count. Solid contact all day.

  36. @Jack Parkman definitely deserves a ton of credit on Gio. I don’t know what he saw last year, but Gio is a total stud. Glad he was right because the road to contention is that much easier with one our TOR spots filled. Now I’m just hoping Lopez can regain form by bringing back the curveball and at least emerge as a quality #4 type starter. I believe he’s far more capable than that, but honestly that might be good enough for what we need once Kopech, Cease, and a high end free agent are in place.

  39. I’ve been on suspension until today, but I got to say I love this year’s approach to the draft. Upon further consideration, Vaughn was the right pick for the spot. He’ll move fast and quickly provide us with a middle of the order bat to pair with Jimenez. After that, I love grabbing a pair of athletic, projectable HS arms plus a HS outfielder with elite / plus, plus speed. Sounds we’ll also land another four or five interesting HS kids on top of that to boot. I absolutely love the infusion of youth & athleticism into the system, but the question quickly becomes where we will play all these kids? There’s going to be some logjams on the positional side. Here’s what we’re potentially looking at Great Falls & Arizona this year: Outfield: Connell, Weaver, Comas, Mieses, Coronado, Guerrero, Beard, Acosta, Glass Infield: Quinteiro, Delgado, Maldonado, Gladney, Pimentel, Diaz, Ramos, Sanchez* 1B/DH: Reyes, Abbott, Mendoza Catcher: Ortiz, Torres The outfield & infields are going to be packed and I’m sure I’m missing some guys. Really wish we had another short-season team, but regardless it’s going to be fun seeing who breaks out of this group. Really need Getz & staff to step up and play their part now.

  40. According to a story at MLB.com and at the Sox web site, he's been given some time off to "get a mental respite." Which is a polite way of saying he sucks and needs to be benched. Better late than never I suppose by the Sox.

  41. After Clinton talking to Nick and the podcast with Garfein I think we've learned some things. They came into the process wanting to select more high schoolers in general to "balance out the system" a bit. Taking the best player in Vaughn at 3 and then following it up with Matthew Thompson was absolutely the predetermined plan. Then Andrew Dalquist fell and they re-evaluated. They found out what it would take to sign Dalquist and they decided to go this route. This also entailed them staying up most of the night and identifying which college seniors to fill out day 2 with. Dalquist and Beard were part of that "on the fly" changing of strategy. Hostetler told us that he didn't see the value in college pitching in rounds 5-7 like he had previously (Flores, McClure, Lambert, etc) so they decided to go high end preps at the top and save later. It's different than what we're used to but it makes sense. I'm pretty sure they'll get Gladney and Glass locked up and the 11th and 12 rounders will definitely sign. That's a nice little infusion of prep talent.
