We’re just over a month away from Opening Day so I thought now would be a good time for official lineup predictions. Here is my official guess of what Ricky will trot out on Opening Day against the Royals: Anderson, SS Moncada, 3B# Abreu, 1B Grandal, C# Jimenez, LF Encarnacion, DH Mazara, RF* Robert, CF Garcia, 2B#4 points

If they don't make multiple moves by 2pm tomorrow, I've decided that I can't defend Bowman anymore. Not moving players tomorrow is just fucking unacceptable. 17.5 hrs to jumping on the Can Stan train.3 points

I guess I’ll just say that this isn’t particularly that interesting. If sox like him and think he could be closer, it has benefit of savings in years other salaries rise. If he falls, we are safely in the area where over paying isn’t much of an issue. id blame the bizarre arbitration affinity for relievers for causing this. It’s not going to be hugely impactful, no where near in scale to recent extensions.3 points

He's been my favorite relief prospect seems like forever now (liked him even when Hamilton, Burdi, etc. were lighting up the minors). I'm expecting him to make noise on a callup this year.2 points

I feel like he's going to bounce back in a big way this year.2 points

Zavala is on track to homer every game. Fulmer on track to allow no hits and strike out 2 batters per inning. We unstoppable.2 points

Mazara walks in 7.4% of his plate appearances over the course of his career. Thats double Anderson's rate.2 points

First hot take of the year, but I think Cease is going to have a monster 2020.2 points

They didn't want to chance Puig's dog and pony show in the clubhouse. And this org. is clubhouse-sensitive.2 points

If even Yoan4Moan didn't find something to complain about regarding a move, it is probably a good one2 points

Since you read the article you can see at one point he was #66 in MLB pipeline rankings. Probably have to assume around 10 pitchers ahead of him so yea at one point he was probably like the 10th best pitching prospect in all of baseball. Edit :Ok just to be more accurate I looked at MLB pipeline rankings for 2018 and saw Dunning at #59 and counted 22 pitchers ahead of him including Kopech and Cease and some other familiar high ranking MiLB and now MLB pitchers. You're welcome whoever emojied me thanks.1 point

This game is an historic turning point. The future is ours.1 point

I would like to point out that it is February 23rd, and that I have dubbed this team unstoppable. When we are 14-4 to start the year, please remember me1 point

3 walks in one inning of work? This guy isn’t long for the team.1 point

He has 4 pitches thst grade out as plus or better? I know he was a decent prospect, but 4 plus pitches makes him sound like a top product.1 point

I LOVE the idea of constantly adding young talent and keeping the farm system strong.1 point

If someone wants to complain about giving a reliever too much money, Kelvin Herrera and his 2-year, $18 million dollar contract is a much better target.1 point

Lol can’t believe some people are trying to convince themselves this is bad.1 point

The Sox literally burned $13 million dollars in a fireplace when they acquired Alonso and Jay last year. I am surprised anyone would be upset about this signing for a young reliever who could have closer potential. If he repeats last season and gets a few saves, his trade value would be through the roof.1 point

Yeah, the arms are doing so well (obviously early) that fewer may get to us than expected. However, if Kjerstad has an amazing year, he'll probably be taken before us anyway in lieu of one of the pitchers. IMO, it all bodes well for Ed Howard (or someone comparable in HS) being there for us1 point

There is legitimately no reason to dislike this deal.1 point

You really think 16 mil spread out over 5 years is going to dent what exactly? Even if he falls off a cliff this year and isn’t good the entire contract his $ is just a drop in the bucket for a team that if in contention should be spending and is only league avg in spending1 point

What Bummer did last year generating GBs at that rate and with that velocity has only ever been matched by zach Britton. Bummer is much more unique than many here are giving him credit for.1 point
-
If Crochet is healthy, still in the high 90s, and available at 11 they should take him. They really need a high impact LHP.1 point

There is a good chance Bummer inherits the closer role after this year, which would make deal even better. Colome did make $23M in his arb years being a good not great closer.1 point
-
I think it’s good. Relievers have become super expensive in arb. They paid him upfront to avoid paying him $19-$20 million in his arb years. Smooths the commitment out. The club options are a possibly nice to have but beside the point.1 point

It's gonna be fun to see how it all shakes out. I currently have 6 college pitchers going in the top 10 and that doesn't include Ginn (I'm not optimistic) , Crochet or Cavalli. I love Ed but I really want one of these college pitchers.1 point
