Not enough Chaz jizzholm talk in here TBH

I understand his approach or thought in knowing he can't spend top dollar for FA's, so he tried to lock up his core to competitive but long term deals before they debuted to have a real "window" to work with. But as we know, that core hasn't been able to stay on the field, or produce at a high level. He invested into the wrong horses. That's not a budget issue. That's a talent evaluation issue.

There is where Hahn's ineptitude in FA comes in. Yes he has constraints that keep him from landing top players for top dollars, but it's not like he has to work with a shoestring budget every year. I still firmly believe that a more competent operation would have a better team on the field for the same total dollars. Lets not forget how awful Hahn was in FA before the rebuild, and how he took a young cost controlled core and maxed out his budget w/o producing a real winner.

He is a major part of it, yes. There are plenty of organizations much more successful than the White Sox that have done it with a much smaller payroll, consistently. I’m not saying there are serious limitations ownership has set on this FO, but let’s not pretend it’s an impossible task to build a winner with a $180 million payroll. It’s done every year.

Thanks I was actually surprised that while I was trying to figure out how to get the picture I took to fit that someone else would beat me to it. I had to crop and recrop that pic to finally get Soxtalk to accept it from my phone. I almost never use my phone to post yet alone post with a picture which is why you see the previous post that kind of introduces the one you eventually saw. It was a 1st attempt and I didn't like how it came out. I thought of giving you an ultra vague answer like a pretend insider would with a wink wink nudge nudge or let you try to figure out what IANAI means ( I am not an insider ). But it really only took a second to know I would just tell you the truth.

I agree 100 percent and besides working on a better diet, maybe he should choose not to play in the WBC like Dylan Cease just did. Imo, Dylan did the smart thing and realized as much of an honor as it is to play in the WBC representing your country, it is a far wiser decision to bypass the WBC and spend that valuable time getting in the best shape possible and avoiding any injuries heading into the 2023 White Sox season. Dylan is only 27 yrs old and made a smart and mature decision for his White Sox team to bypass the WBC. It seems that Lance at 35 yrs old, with bad knees and overweight, maybe should have considered the same thing. Let's not forget Lynn is being paid 18.5 million a year to pitch for the White Sox. Every single Sox fan will be screaming what a dumb decision it was to play in the WBC, if Lance for some nightmare occurrence gets some serious injury, which would cause him to miss time at the start of the Sox 2023 season.

He was 28 for 81 (.373) with only three strikeouts to six walks against the Sox last year. He was essentially prime Tony Gwynn against the Sox, so good return or not, I'm happy to see him leave.

Lopez is awesome. He's had some weirdness happen to him in his career, but he was one of the best arms in baseball first half last year before breaking down a bit in the 2nd half. He had never thrown more than 120 innings in a pro season until last year, but he's got a great build and think he can be a horse. Wouldn't at all shock me to see Lopez in the top 5 of AL Cy voting in one of the next two years.

Yeah. I don't expect or need Lynn to be a cardio monster running steps and being chiseled... but coming in incredibly overweight with very little training at his age and on his knees is just reckless.

I laughed when Steve Stone insisted Lynn did everything he could to pitch 200 innings, including being in top physical condition. I think Steve knows the game, and sometimes he is really good. But he thinks the audience is just a bunch of total idiots.

How about he cuts back on eating and drinking beer and starts working out more? Now that be a good trick !

I'm glad you put the word "superstars" in quotes. The White Sox do not currently have any true superstars.

Historically remember JR doesn't believe much in the minor league system and has gone on record as saying he doesn't believe in paying for "potential." With that being said there are only a limited number of ways to procure talent, since he doesn't seem to think developing it is the right way, maybe he should start signing quality free agents... Oh wait...guess that's not the right way either! ?

I think they just ran out of gas. They had been playing pretty good ball since Tony had left the team. But they knew they needed to sweep that series, and after losing the first one in heartbreaking fashion, I think all the air in the balloon was simply gone. Sox went on to lose 8 in a row stretching the lead from 3.5 GB to 11, and making the race looks much more lopsided than it really was.

Yes - its absolutely possible. They need stars to play like stars (and be healthy), have positive health, and have some young players / other positive surprises. It is certainly possible. For example: Moncada, Anderson, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn play to their hype and are healthy. That alone has a MASSIVE impact on production. I will say loss of Liam is real tough and while I half expect White Sox to do nothing - it really will be pathetic if they don't look at things and decide they have to dig deeper and spend more (even if it is for '23) only before we get into spring training to upgrade this club.
