  1. How could you not be obsessed with this imposing physical specimen?

  2. Look, when you have a decades long season ticket holder telling the organization to f*** off, the problem isn't if the fans are big enough fans. Most people get that.

  3. Boooooooo that last sentence

  4. Has nothing to do with anger and I'm not sure where I mocked anyone. If the owner of a business doesn't care about the quality of their product, to the point that they are actively hostile towards its quality, why would i continue to support that product? I like movies but that doesn't mean i watch gigli to show support for all movies.

  5. I'm excited to see what Miguel Vargas is going to do this year.

  6. It's funny, as I have gotten older, I spend less and less time on professional sports in general, and more and more on amatuer. It isn't about perfection, otherwise no one would watch athletics in general. Just like I want to see an honest effort on the field, I also want to see an honest effort off of it. Right now the White Sox are the 400 pound dude on his chat board talking about "no fattys".

  7. Some people would prefer to do other things with their time and money than watch the bad baseball team that they are a fan of. Seems pretty simple.

  8. I have my season tickets so I will be there for many of them. Cuban sandwiches and empierogies will be the main attractions besides summer baseball at the park.

  9. As a rule 5 pick the most important thing is to keep Smith healthy and on the roster all season and if that means starting him in the bullpen and moving him to the rotation later in the season to limit his innings then that is exactly what they should do.

  10. Drury is a 2nd baseman. Play him at 2nd and let's get some home runs out of our infield. I think someone suggested this in the Opening Day 26 man roster thread. Oh yeah, it was me.

  11. It’s currently blocking Vargas, Drury, and Sosa from playing more 2b. It’s not a huge deal, but when the Sox run out the worst defensive infield in the league, their commitment to Vaughn will be a contributing factor.

  12. Anderson and Varland have both been released as well. The Sox have some decent prospects, but man, do they have a lot of bad players in camp with a chance to make the team.

  13. Thorpe did not have a ucl injury which linked to velocity/ max effort.

  14. It really is how someone defines "not trying". Not trying by the front office to me would be no trades, keep the entire coaching staff in place, draft a few players based on what they read here. Trying would be rebuilding the farm system and hiring new coaches and managers. But that's just my definition.

  15. One of the mightiest unibrows I have ever seen. Imagine standing on the bump and seeing those arch in bemusement at your offerings as he takes slider after slider tantalizingly skirting the zone
    2 points
  16. What's that have to do with the White Sox?
    2 points
  17. Almost all of the rotation is back end guys right now. The red meat won't get here for a year or two, hopefully. That whole string of Shuster, Nastrini, Canon, Martin, Wilson, etc, are guys you hope figure it out and give you that 4.5 era over 160 innings to fill some innings over the course of seasons. Maybe a Burke has more of a mid rotation ceiling, but there just aren't those guys here yet.

  18. The amount of false equivalences you've mentioned in this thread is impressive. I've watched tons of bad baseball in my life. That's not the issue here. When the Sox tried to supply a quality product I'd watch all ups and downs. If my favorite musician started releasing albums of them simply humming I wouldn't keep listening out of loyalty.

  19. Looking at the media landscape, you probably made the right choice.

  20. My original comment? I responded to someone who said they did not understand the "not watching" crowd. I do find it to be an interesting choice to support a product that does not want your support. @Texsox I know the ownership group and, in turn, the front office is not trying. Do you think they are? They're going to have the lowest payroll they've had in 21 years this year. The game's revenue in the past 21 years has more than tripled. Meaning the payroll this year is more than 3 times less than it was 21 years ago, despite being roughly the same gross amount.

  21. Hey I’d do that. I’m looking for work anyway.

  22. Late to the party, but his .624 career OPS is technically a step up from the 2024 Sox team OPS of .618. Yay progress?

  23. We all like the White Sox --- we're on a fan forum. You said you didn't understand the never-watches crowd and went on to say you love baseball so you watch every game. The Sox last year were an embarrassment to baseball. As I've gotten older, the value of my time becomes more important and wasting 3+ hours a day on an entertainment product that has spent zero effort in actually entertaining me is not ideal. I'm still incredibly active in my baseball viewing, but I'll watch teams who take the point of providing an entertaining product more seriously; and who have more respect for the game in general.

  24. No, I love the White Sox. You're right, they suck and its embarrassing to admit that's my team at times but it is what it is, they'll be good again eventually.

  25. Yeah I don't get the im not going or watching crowd. Especially the people lucky enough to live close enough to get to go to the games of their favorite team. I watch damn near every game because I just love baseball. Would it be nice if they were good? Of course.

  26. I guess the unions keep them from grabbing up somebody like ChiSoxFanMike, giving him a press pass, and paying him minimum wage to cover home games, and maybe games in cities within a 5 hours' drive.

  27. It also doesn't do much good when they can't afford to keep any of their pitchers long-term. Not to mention the premium in the sport is still on up the middle position prospects (see Anthony Campbell Mayer). Which is looking even more questionable with Colson's physical issues.

  28. They still have to prove they can be healthy and productive major leaguers before congratulating anyone just yet. The jury's far from out on Caglianone vs. Hagen Smith. At some point, the offense will need to be able to score more than 2-3 runs once the regular season begins.

  29. It's the same for Sports Admin. Used to be Ohio U Ohio State UMass and Georgia Southern. Now you basically need Ivy Stanford Duke maybe Northwestern or Michigan if you want a front office track.

  30. With the way the roster's set up now...maybe Vaughn gets you closer to 110 than 121 losses again. He's pretty reliably average. Vargas looked hopeless last year, but now is showing some signs with his strength gain and increasing comfort with the team. At any rate, Vaughn is clearly not part of their next playoff team and is blocking the likes of Vargas Sosa Elko and Ramos from getting more opportunities.

  33. Well the Rays can't or couldn't afford to take those chances with Glasnow looking at his career lack of availability/IP totals. That works out fine when they are only planning to use guys like Ohtani and Kershaw for partial seasons. For example, Yamamoto only pitched 90 innings but was available in the post season when they most needed him. Blake Snell looks great on paper but is lucky to get through five innings most starts.

  41. Seems like a perfectly reasonable #3 WR signing (pending terms). They will likely add another WR in the draft too. Not sure why you hating on this?

  42. They don't necessarily have to ditch the old ones. Seems they could keep both in rotation.

  43. There it is. This is 2025, and there are plenty of things to do with my entertainment dollars and time. I will be watching more of my local HS baseball team than I will this product.

  44. Yes, a baseball game is an event that is a blast to attend on a nice summer night. It is a choice to do something you enjoy without maintaining some meta-anger and pretending to be a connoisseur of men playing a game flawlessly. It is a choice to be a grump and mock people who won't think the way you do.
