Really like how Venable and the team are playing this season out. They have made a big deal about finishing strong and avoiding another 100 loss season. Also building for next season. For the first time in a long time I see some hope for this franchise. I really like Venable. I think he has the perfect positive demeanor for a young and building team. Players like him and play hard for him. I think if JR would open the check book free agents would really want to come play in Chicago for a contending team. It is a great city. MLB players ranked Chicago has their second most favorite road city behind only San Diego.5 points

this forum told me Getz was inept, why do these guys well-regarded around the league (Venable and Bannister as well) wanna work here so bad??? stockholm syndrome?4 points

All the Sox do is win. I think it's obvious the team will contend next season as .500 is good enough to contend in our division. Our manager must be good to get this much out of our no-name pitching staff. The hitting has been remarkable the second half. Sox must have a good hitting coach, too. How many were really in the park today, 1,000 even? They called it 11,000.3 points

Could've split that series if that ball Sosa hit in the 10th was like an inch closer.3 points

Venable is the first Sox manager I've liked since early Guillen. Is he a tactical ace? Not really, but he can lead a clubhouse and that is the most important thing. Team could have folded but finishing strong is important with so many young guys getting regular playing time.3 points

TBH, like seeing the walks and singles, that might be more sustainable than a 60 HR pace.3 points

This has been just a legitimately good stretch of baseball. The Sox deserve their flowers, I was worried when we had the losing streak it was going to fall apart. But THAT was the blip, not the winning! Great second half, great job to our young hitters and good job to Venable for figuring out how to make pitching staff work enough game to game.2 points

Padres are still playing for the NL West. Although I'm not sure if they still will be in a few weeks.2 points

The idea floated around is a transit center at 15th and Clark with access to both the metra and red line.2 points

Spoiling Cleveland's playoff hopes would be the highlight of the season for me. Yankees at their ballpark is gonna be the toughest series left.2 points

5.2IP scoreless with 4 hits/Ks today for Smith. He threw 16 straight strikes in 3 ball counts before finally giving up his only walk in the 6th (helped by a borderline call going against him). Came back from 3-0 to get an out three times. 13 whiffs, velo up a smidge over his season averages despite continuing to add innings. Good stuff.2 points

that's pretty cute but I hate the term 'dog dad/dog mom'. little fido is not a substitute for a child. millennials seem to think so. I used to live in a building with this empty nester who pushed around her dog in a stroller. millennials are just leaning into that.2 points

Yup, no debate here. Especially re: Sosa. I just really like the guy!!!2 points

He is out of options after this year. They could DFA him at the end of spring training if he doesn't make the team, or they might just want to clear him before the winter to have the 40-man space. There's about 2-3 guys on the 60-day IL they'll want to protect, and about 4 who will be Rule 5 eligible this winter, who at least deserve consideration for a protective roster spot. Ramos did work hard, but he doesn't have the track record of acing each level like Sosa does. Ramos might be in the same boat as Fletcher, who had his big shot and couldn't take advantage. Guys like Meidroth, Teel and Quero did. It's good to say that the Sox might be moving up to the type of organization that doesn't have the luxury of waiting for guys like Ramos or Elko to take a year to figure things out.2 points

The Sox were done scoring by the 3rd inning. It was just a matter of could the BP hold onto the lead. Lots of big clutch hits in the Sox 5 run second inning. Burke walked the bases loaded w/ no outs in the 2nd. But pitched out of it with no runs with a K and a nice DP turned by Colson. The Sox followed that up with the 5 run inning. Beni solo HR in the 3rd ended the scoring. He's been hot . Sox HR Leaders. Sosa 20 Benintendi 19 Montgomery 182 points

I could tell you, but then I would have to run you through a democratically elected board of Trustees who decides what is allowable and what must be escalated to another board who then decides what to elevate to the status of needing further review. Just kidding. We'd kill you.2 points

Burke started? Vargas played? Ok I want to watch this game but it's 2:00am and time to go to bed. I think I might have just missed a good one. Curious about the bullpen management, looks like the entire staff pitched tonight.1 point
