  1. An extremely likeable vet with a pretty lefty swing. Hope he has a nice season for the Mets and he can get some playoff ball.

  3. Good stuff, got 3 K that inning but command not there. He'll likely stay all spring just to see what they can accomplish with him.

  5. So stupid. Should just eat Beni's salary and ship him to some team that needs a lefty platoon bat. Also, Sosa does not have the arm for 3B. We've been over this. He can hide it at 2nd. He can't at 3rd. He's a perfectly fine 2B defensively other than the brain farts, which aren't going to go away at 3rd.

  6. Lots of "first outing of spring" type performances from the arms, nice for the bats to be able to hit around it. 12 runs on 16 hits and 6 walks against 5ks (only 1 from the starters)

  7. 5 pitch mix from Kay, FB a bit harder than I expected. Got a lot of whiffs when he was in/near the zone, hopefully he continues to dial in the command. Love seeing Brooks and EQ continue their strong springs

  9. as of right now, Sox have scored the most runs of any team in Spring Training (40). Yankees 2nd with 38, PIT with 37, SEA with 36

  10. Which country is “our” country? I thought you live in Chy-nuh?

  11. The Sox had to trade Robert and his $20 million just to finish their offseason, which is sad enough as it is. No way is Jerry going to eat the majority of Benintendi’s $31 million remaining so he can play for another team for the next two years.

  12. Maybe that gets overblown too. I think with you have a mid 20s hitter capable of 30 HR's he needs time to get comfortable . But his value has to increase quickly as does Vargas' & Meidroth because more infielders are coming. Antonacci, Bonemer, Roch C*. & Carlson.( farthest away) * Not yet but a high probability.

  13. It's spring training. They like his bat except for his walk rate and are trying to make him more useful and/or tradeable . Guys can get better at D .

  14. He's like half a win below average at 2nd with the glove. I think he might be 3 wins above average with the bat at 2B. We'll see how he does. My thoughts on him at third are based on my own scouting of him on the 2024 Seattle trip. He played there that night and was a disaster. His arm just won't allow it imo.

  15. He played negative defense, as per FanGraphs last year, but he was ranked 23rd out of 30. for 2B over 200 PAs. Not the absolute worst.

  16. Didn't Sosa snag a bullet towards the line deep at 3rd and make a perfect throw today? Wasn't sure who was playing 3rd for that one.

  17. I added (edited) a Pereira & Kelenic sentence to the end of that post .

  18. Depends if they go with 3 catchers .OF should be 10D, Acuna,Baldwin, Hays maybe Hill. Tanner Murray's looked good so far. Kelenic & Peraira will get their looks too.

  19. Sox were more clutch with 6 2 out RBI compared to 3 for M's. Sox also 6 for 18 with RISP compared to M's 3 for 17.

  20. Camilletti and Tanner Murray trying to not get lost in the Antonacci-amore. Mead, Sosa and Baldwin with good-looking lines.

  21. Darren Baker infield single. He's really fast. Steals 2nd. Romo walks. Seattle brings in a LHP to face LH Camilletti and he singles in Baker . 12-10.

  22. Coffey in to see if he can stop Seattle. Yay a full inning by 1 Sox pitcher without a run !

  23. I can see why Iriarte has fallen off prospect lists.

  24. Before he striuck Naylor out , Naylor seemed to be playing head games with Alberto. Iriarte in to get the Mariners close again.

  27. Rooting for him. Would be kind of funny if the Mets opening day OF is 2/3 of the Sox OF from a 100 loss season though.

  31. yeah that stadium is a snoozer. Sox park though, you never know. Maybe people do a bunch of dumb crap with stadiums over the next 3 decades and in 2070 everyone loves 'the rate' named after a time when companies brokered mortgage deals for 'houses'. All very charming.

  32. February 24, 1948 - Sox G.M. Les O’Connor sent pitcher Eddie Lopat to the Yankees for three players. Lopat, was a soft tossing, off speed pitcher who won 50 games in four years with the Sox, twice having an ERA under three. He would quickly develop into one of the aces on the Yankees dynasty clubs of the 1950's winning 113 games in seven and a half years. He also went 4-1 in World Series play. Of the players the Sox got in return, only pitcher Bill Wight had any success on the South Side winning 34 games in three seasons. Another one of the players acquired, catcher Aaron Robinson, would be sent that November to the Tigers for a youngster named Billy Pierce.

  33. It happened to the old park. During its lifetime Comiskey Park was never accorded the venerated status of Tiger, Wrigley and Fenway. Good example was a 1990 Sporting News article that trashed it and the surrounding neighborhood, and got a bunch of quotes from players who also trashed it. Now that it’s gone, it suddenly has become one of those lost Cathedrals of Baseball, at least on social media. That being said, I don’t see it happening with this park.

  34. Meant to share this when it was posted but I kinda like these lineups. I would maybe change them a bit at the bottom (especially against righties) and I think I would have Murakami and Colson higher against lefties until they show they struggle against lefties.

  35. I ordered my USA curling baseball cap from New Balance so my wife or son can gift me something other than a Sox cap for Christmas....I'll be very happy when I unwrap it this December.

  36. No need to stop at 2013. You can go back all the way to 1995 - as soon as the new ballpark bounce ended. The Sox have ranked higher than 15th in MLB attendance only once in those 3 decades - 2006 when they were reigning WS champs. All the talk about how much fans just love having a stadium right off the expressway and surrounded by parking lots isn't supported by the numbers. Which other teams are emulating even a single aspect of what the Sox have when designing their stadiums and surroundings in even the slightest way? Absolutely none. People can get apoplectic, resort to ad hominem arguments, and slap laugh emojis all over the forum to their hearts desire....it still doesn't change the reality of the Sox stadium situation. Neither does anecdotal stories about how great the place is for individual fans. I used to be one of those fans with a huge chip on my shoulder whenever someone dissed Sox Park - blaming it on Cubs fans or people brainwashed by the Cub-loving, Sox-hating media. At some point, I realized that "rest of the world is wrong and we die-hard Sox fans are right" way of thinking was just me living in denial.

  38. Yeah, this kid is going 1-1. The Sox would have to get cute to convince themselves otherwise.

  41. The Murakami Netflix doc offered a little insight on some of the factors that ultimately sold him on signing here which included (in no particular order): having a clear path to starting joining a young exciting core being in a multicultural city with direct flights to Japan big city exposure/sponsorship opportunities On the latter point, he says he feels a responsibility to use his platform/influence for good. He's launching a charitable brand Beve to raise money and awareness for various social causes via a series of t-shirts. The first is for a pediatric cancer organization, Japan Children's Cancer Group. 42. One thing I've taken from watching and reading (translated) WBC Asian prep is that they take injury prevention quite seriously. Perhaps more seriously than NA based players who have a "win a job" mentality sometimes. Most of the comments on a KBO spring game are basically just "avoid injury, go through the motions otherwise". It's an approach I wish more US pro teams would take, although I get it's a fine line.

  43. I assume my free T-Mobile MLB.tv subscription from last year should be dead, but I just wanted to try it out anyways. I opened up MLB.tv and I am able to watch the Marquee Network feed without any issues. The free T-Mobile MLB.tv subscription deal for 2026 isn’t available until late next month so I’m not sure why my MLB.tv subscription from last year is still working. I’m not even using VPN and I’m in Chicago. Not sure if this is just a free ST game or what…
