  1. If the Sox win two series in a row, but Soxtalk doesn't acknowledge, did they actually win? Nice win yesterday with Benintendi being the unlikely hero. Great pitching from start to finish. Martin continues to look good, Taylor was firing, and Dominguez didn't screw up.
  2. Acuna making the error with Getz in the booth is chef's kiss.
  3. Good to see another strong start from Davis Martin. If we could just have a third reliably good starter besides Schultz and Martin, we'd start to be really interesting. Having at least one other good BP piece besides Taylor would help too. They took 2 of 3 on the road against two decent teams so I think we're seeing some solid progress.
  4. Swallows and Sox fans have been forming a kind of beautiful kinship on socials since early in the season. After the first few games some Chicago fans were apologizing for not being good enough to deserve him, and Swallows fans were basically like "No, we get it" lol Don't know if it's something that would be possible with licensing and stuff, but some kind of event at the ballpark with Southpaw and the Swallows mascot would be fun
  5. Figured the main Mune thread could get a new title. Dude is bonkers. Ishbia should strong arm Reinsdorf in whatever capacity he can, because a Japanese superstar would be an amazing team asset to have when opening a new stadium.
  6. Sox technically have a winning record in 1 run games now (3-2), they lost 70% of those games last season.
  7. Don’t tempt the master troll @ron883. He’ll have the Sox in the WS in his next post. 🤣
  8. Sox get win #11 at home and start another series off on a good note. They have won the opener in 6/9 series so far, but they are 3/3 on getting swept when they lose it. Save #6 for Dominguez, T-5 in the league behind Miller, Bednar, Sewald, and Riley O'Brien (STL). At 11-15, they are closer to 3rd in the division (Twins, 12-14) than last (KC, 9-17). They are 10-10 since opening road trip, and have won 4 of 5. Fedde pitched better than his line, really seems pitching here agrees with him for some reason.
  9. Mune ties Konerko for most HR ever by a Sox player in March/April.
  10. Bottom of the lineup made some nice contributions with small ball and situational hitting.
  11. Just maybe things are starting to turn. Fun game.
  12. Keep winning games like this to build confidence and get guys back. Could be a fun summer.
  13. NEVERR A DOUBT! SIR ANTHONY!
  14. this team can bunt Natls dont want to win this game
  15. listening to Brookes bullshit questions is why I always flip back to the away feed, my god shut the hell up
  16. Getz really needs to try sneak Acuna to Charlotte. If he is claimed, oh well…
  17. Check swing replay challenges are being tested in the minors and will likely work their way up like ABS
  18. Acuna making an error with Getz in the booth is the White Sox moment of the year

  20. Soxtalk don't ever change. A week ago it was brain dead to leadoff Beni .Now people want him leading off against a LH opener. My only stance on that is batting Beni at leadoff against RH starting pitching produced wins and Beni has hit way better there then anywhere else. Small sample of course but so is winning while he's been at it. If there's been a Mune effect based on seeing more good pitches batting right in front of him that has helped Beni's production then I'm all for it since he does hit HR's .Both his HR's have come leading off as have the majority of his hits and runs batted in. Time to put the pedal to the metal at home.
  21. I'd offer him a 4 year extension at 120 million but you know JR wouldn't even consider it.
  22. I feel good that they are hitting them in good weather. They could be hitting a lot of them this summer.
  23. I would like to see them continue to hit home runs when they are back home. Need power to win games on the South Side.
  24. I don't get what you're trying to interrogate here. The literal only opinion I shared was that Luis is a player who needs to get his A-swing off. He's been in a slump of late, I looked at some of his underlying metrics and included them because they surprised me. He cooled off as Pereira was heating up, and I thought the contrast was interesting given preseason expectations for LRJ to excel in NY and Pereira to be nothing. That's literally it. I described it in the post itself as "funny small sample size theater", because that's all it was to me. If I compared Mune to something Aaron Judge or Cal Raleigh was doing, would you feel compelled to jump in saying they weren’t traded for each other and don’t play the same position and why aren't I compared Raleigh to Quero? I didn't say anything about the trade or Acuna, because that wasn't the subject of my post. If you want to talk about Acuna, I'm not stopping you. If the post wasn't interesting or didn't make sense to you, that's fine. Scrolling past it is free, and I already said it's not that deep. But you keep replying bringing up things I didn't say or even reference to make some implication of nefarious motivations you're imagining I have, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that. Not every post is a part of some grand “us vs them” narrative. The preoccupation here with finding a “side” to be on for everything for the purpose of manufacturing arguments is so tiresome.
  25. this had me cracking up. from the other night's game on a youtube that follows japanese players in mlb.
  26. Watching the CHSN replay of the game: 1) I'm kinda done with McGuire. I understand his existence. Maybe even keep him and send Q down when Teel's back. But I'm done. 2) Shriff should get his balls tazed every time he asks Stone if he lets a player swing on 3-0. 3) I have a soft spot for Beni, as an old guy. Not the ball player; his dad. I hope Tony Beni is taking care of the old man. Setting him up to buy regular Powerball tix. 4) Davis Martin is a nice late rounder. Maybe he sticks round for the duration of the team's control. 5) Soroka was a nice gamble when it was. Maybe the scouts who were still in the Sox' employ from 2023 didn't actually scout him, and Getz had to go off of word of mouth. But it was an okay gamble, and they still have Riley Gowens. And Braden Shuemake is captain of the Astros, now. 6) I like this d-backs team. Perdomo is a monster. Vargas better sign his endorsement deals now. It just sneaks up on you when you can't remember where you put your watch, or what the word for a deal you sign with a company to promote their product is called. 7) Pereira works. There's a scouting thing some teams do. If you're scouting a black player, don't compare him to another black player. I am guilty of seeing Avasail Garcia's ceiling with Pereira. 8) I understand the argument that Grant Taylor's the best arm on the team and should be used in high leverage. I don't think he does well in high leverage yet. He's a bit much with a clean inning. Coming to clean up a mess, not so much. 9) 7th inning, that was actually a nice play by Antonacci on that double. He pulled up well to plat the carom, saved a run. 10) Got no problem with Peters or Hill as backups.
  27. Agreed, I posted last night that it was probably his best call so far. And ironically it fits the situation perfectly going forward into next season. 🤣
  28. Fun read. Obviously some of it is the affability of Mune himself, but in addition to the on field stuff it's been great to watch how comfortably he seems to have settled in even after missing some time with the team for the WBC.
  29. Luckily there's still approx. 89 % of the home schedule left in the season.
  30. The players genuinely seem like they pull for each other. The whole building a winning culture with a bunch of good guys has merit . But they also have to be baseball smart, gritty, talented, have good plate discipline, and mostly be left handed . That's Getz plan in a nutshell. Power is not overlooked in favor of gritty short Getz like players despite complaints about that. We need to keep in mind that when dumpster diving for the obvious reasons that players who need another chance and AAAA types are going to either be failed top draft picks , or guys who had success in the minors but failed in numerous call ups. This may include many different body types or pitchers who have different arm angles or have no command . Dealing with rejects has never been a plan that was supposed to be. easy or produce stars . You cycle through them quickly and hope a few impress you enough to get a shot to do more. That was born from necessity because the owner is spending like it was 20 years ago. If youre looking for him to spend more you probably need to know more about what kind of money is incoming directly as a result of Murakami being Japanese and getting all of baseball excited because of his bombs. You'd also need to see at least 2 million in attendence if the M &M boys can continue trending upward and produce a lot more winning. That, however , is no guarantee that JR would spend whatever it takes to extend Murakami or that Mune will be receptive to staying with the Sox . Or you can speculate that Justin Ishbia is very persuasive and needs Murakami to star in the new White Sox stadium.
  31. Yea a good first step would be going .500 at home this season. 3-6 so far ain't gonna cut it.
  32. I'll start doing winner post games if the team gets above .500. Until then I've decided to retire my own contribuations. Sox up to 19th in wRC+ at 98, 23rd in position player fWAR at 2.5. Some positive signs the last two series that maybe we'll push for 75 wins. Need to keep getting some decent SP.
  33. My post was effectively "huh, that's interesting" and there was no reason for this to be contentious at all if not for you responding like my personal interest needed to meet some random criteria set by you in order to be justified, and then not dropping it after I said it wasn't that deep. Very fun schtick to take snipes at my motivations over an entirely non-confrontational post that you supposedly didn't care about to begin with and then backtrack like you were just giving a little fun friendly feedback for the sake of healthy and productive public discourse though. I'm more than happy to have a good faith exchange of communication, but I truly do wish people would stop including me in the arguments they want to have between themselves and strawmen. Let's please just leave it at that.
  34. Actually, I just reassessed… if you are the fan and your favorite team is the Swallows, maybe all the fans win?
  35. I'm far from the first person to compare a present and former Sox here, most of whom were not traded for each other? I don't know why this would come across to you as some completely bewildering never-before-seen concept that demands explanation. But yes, the random small sample size comparison...which I introduced as a random small sample size comparison...was in fact a random small size comparison! Good feedback, making sure I knew the thing I already said. And "just sharing some feedback" completely explains why, when I again reiterated that it was a random small sample size comparison not intended to make any point in particular, your response was to say that I "didn't answer your question" and imply that I had some kind of underhanded motivation for not posting about something entirely different instead. Not that you care, of course. What a totally necessary exchange.
  36. Led directly to the movie and John Belushi being able to afford all the nose candy in the world that took him out. Sad story of success and a quick ending to it. Rinse and repeat with Chris Farley and Tommy Boy.
  37. Everybody shut up. Dig on this:
  38. 1 point
He almost looked like he regretted having the trainers out at all and would have preferred to just stay in the game lol Better safe than sorry though
  39. 1) Agree with Q going down. Unfortunately for KLee, he didn’t prove his case so The Master Baiter probably retains his backup job. 2) Agreed. I have been calling this out every time I hear Schriffen say it. I think he is trolling us all at this point because he should’ve figured out the answer to his own question by now, after all the times Stone has basically laughed at him when he asks it. 3) No soft spot here, regardless of what Benintendi does. A true soft spot would be DFA’ing him, paying out the rest of his contracts, and letting him try to latch on with a contending team to try to win something. Free up his spot for a younger player. 4) His value should be sky high and he’s not a free agent until 2031. Unless you are getting an amazing offer for him, he probably isn’t worth trading at this point. 5) Inconsequential. 6) Fuggem. 7) I thought Pereira was Venezuelan? Is he half-black as well? 8) Taylor looks like a future closer in any case. 9) Agreed. Was going to post this in the game thread. 10) They are still just guys. Would still like to see Kelenic get hot and see what he could do, but maybe his time is over.
  40. Hey cut it out! You aren't being miserable enough! This team is bad, everybody will bust, and we'll never win another championship.
  41. You may have achieved a monopoly of posts here, but that doesn't make your opinion any more valuable than others, regardless of age. I know a lot of self-absorbed, overconfident, people of all ages, including a lot of blowhards.
  42. Derek Hill, Tristan Peters, Everson Periera. Acuna is going to hurt somebody with a collision if Venable continues to starts him out there. The Sox have to try to win every game for the fans. No long leash for a bad dog.
  43. He's an incredible fit for what Allen wants to do with his defensive scheme. We've also upgraded our 2nd level speed by a lot this off-season. They can go get dline help in the 2nd. I like the pick a lot. You go and get the BPA at an incredible value. This guy should have been gone in the middle of the 1st. Getting him at 25 is a steal.
  44. 9-14 = .391 win% which projects out to 63 wins. Nope, this is pretty much in their lane. But I guess as bad as things have been, the victory lap ceiling gets easier and easier to take.
