  1. That sub-headline is funny. I feel seen. Also just wanna say I've been creeping on this site since 2022 because I fucking hated that team so much and needed people who understood. Thanks everybody for keeping me sane. It's been a lot cheaper than therapy

.721 for an elite defender at shortstop would be a pretty valuable player in the mlb. That said, Carlson is a 19 year old who needed significant swing changes. Very hard to say what he’s gonna be. I certainly wouldn’t be avoiding Rich cuz I am afraid of blocking Carlson. He’s a true wait and see prospect.
  3. Derek Hill is a major league ballplayer. Does a lot of things at least adequately. A couple of them really well. And Sox are using him in a way that leans on the things he does best. Seems like a real good dude too.
  4. Pitcher can't get lefties out and can't throw strikes. Hmm, perfect time for my lefty to bunt!

A much needed reset, hopefully this will help him get right

  7. McCovey ChroniclesGiants-White Sox Series Preview: Mass AppealThe White Sox are having fun. Will the Giants be able to make them as miserable as they’ve made their fans?Fun writeup from the opposition's POV.
  8. Gonna be a late Friday night game thread. Pace yourselves. Trevor Macdonald goes for the Giants, who are 30th in RS and have lost three in a row and sit at 20-30. Macdonald has good numbers with a 2.37 ERA and a 17/3 K/BB ratio and a WHIP of only 1. Sox will have to be patient and make him work if we want to get into the bullpen before the 6th.
  9. Thats why I had confidence the Sox would be much better this year. Once the rooks started playing they started winning a little more. Then you add Murakami to a lineup with Colson and others playing a full season , they just sermed like a much better offensive team. And despite the high wire act by Dominquez hes easily passed the top save guy from last year. Vargas and Davis improvement plus Antonacci ,Kay and Schultz made up for the loss of Teel , Baldwin and Vasil.
  10. How i stay up for 3 more innings its already 12:15 AM here f***. anyone got some coke?
  11. That PA is an example of what has made me really optimistic about Mune. He's not always the same hitter. He tries to adjust to the scouting report and the pitcher and he often does it successfully.
  12. This could go in the “Start Believing” thread. My wifey has us watching “Should I Marry a Murderer” and I’m sneaking the game and Soxtalk on my phone. 😂
  13. Perfect approach! Really like when he’s up in those spots.
  14. If he's available for pinch hitting, I'm sticking with my prediction....and I'll go to sleep and dream it comes true.
  15. He just got scratched. Hill in RF now, batting 9th.
  16. Nice, it's Japanese heritage night in San Fran. Let's get a Mune shot!

People forget Big George just turned 20 a couple months ago and he's starting to rake in High A already so he's doing fine.
  18. This is the Sox' last late-night game of the regular season.
  19. Not a bad lineup but just sucks having Quero as the 2nd leadoff guy. I'd flip him and Peters but most managers are still stuck in the worst hitter is 9th mindset. For sequencing it's better to have the worst hitter 8th.

Big George continuing his heater with another HR Season OPS up over .800 now
  21. Please don’t repeat Ron’s terrible ass nickname.

Someone threw out a list of all the starting pitching "depth" we have and basically all of it is unproven. A nice like half season of work from Shane Smith last year, and nice start for Davis Martin's season was pretty much it. Oh, and "Free Agent signing to be named later."
  23. If Kaplan took off his Cubs hat for one second, the only question you have to ask is which player would a GM rather have? It won’t be the declining 32-year old that forgot how to hit and has a bloated contract. You should lose your career for a take like his.

An avatar bet? That's weak. Put your money where your mouth is and make it a ban bet.
  25. I am a believer. Hi guys. First time I've been able to log on since six weeks or so I think. My cookies don't work or whatever. Before it doesn't work again for me ... my early impressions of course are very favorable. I realize I have hated our rebuilds but I have to give credit where it is due. Getz may be the answer. I still haven't returned to mlb.com but I watch the highlights and we have definitely got some 'amazing' lift and pull guys in Muni, Colson and Vargas. I personally am a fan of Antonnucci (sp?). And I've always liked Meidroth and I've never been a Beni hater. I also like the Savannah Bananas guy. In other words, with three power hitters minimum (I like our catchers too, way to bomb it Quero) I think we can stay in the Central race all year. That's because with pitchers only going 3-4 innings max I think we have enough bodies to do enough on a given night for us to win. I don't know enuf about our pitchers still. Our closer seems good. Martin has a 1.61 ERA. I'll learn more about them as the summer progresses. Since this may be the only chance for me to post since my computer hasn't been able to connect, let me say I'm hopeful the rebuilding is over. I'm starting to think Getz may be outstanding. Muri is the find of the decade. The Cub series was awesome and exciting. I am thinking from listening to highights our play by play guy still is annoying. If anybody has suggestions for me to be able to log on let me know. It's hard going cold turkey on the site, but there's some guy on X who posts a lot about the Sox and a couple facebook guys do it so I've been able to get my fix so to speak a little bit. If you missed greg, thanks. If you hate greg, that's your prerogative. GO SOX. GO GETZ. The rebuilding may be finished tra la tra la.

You know it's very likely that this never happens. Almost certain in fact. Betting every prospect will hit their ceiling in the ultimate in self delusion.

I said it over the winter when the arb hearing fell apart.

Again, zero chance all four of them fight for the same position, at the same time. How longhave you watched baseball? It's the ultimate insanity in projecting out all prospects as successful.

I’m think I’m with @GreenSox on this thread. Yes, this team needs more starting pitching to compete, but there’s no way they should be trading away any good young prospects for a rental arm. I wouldn’t even deal Jacob Gonzalez at this point. Ishbia may not own the team for awhile and Jerry may not decide to spend with the team hovering around 2nd place. Remember what Jerry reportedly said about finishing in 2nd place? Keep the prospect train to the minors moving and see what they can do. In hindsight of Grant Taylor’s last outing, I can’t believe we ever talked about trading him.
  30. Luckily there’s been more hits than misses so far. I can live with an expensive Hicks for one more season if Sandlin turns into something. Acuna is a real bummer though. We were hoping he could be a decent CF with an average bat but he looks like a utility guy that can’t hit at all.

Good start again for Truman Pauley. 5 1IP, 1 ER (solo shot), 8 K
  32. I appreciate the call out for my penis. It means a lot.
  33. Three factoids today: May 21, 1905 - White Sox pitcher Frank Smith fired a one-hitter in beating the Senators 2-1 at South Side Park. Washington scored their only run and got their only hit in the first inning as Smith walked former teammate Charlie Jones to open the game then after an out, he was driven home on a single by Jake Stahl. Smith helped his own cause in the fifth inning by hitting a double then when he was on third base came home on a bobbled ground ball resulting in an error. It was the decisive run in the game. Washington made three errors on the afternoon with the game played in front of over 25-thousand fans. May 21, 1943 - The White Sox won the fastest nine-inning game they’ve ever played, 1-0 over the Senators at Comiskey Park. Johnny Humphries threw a three-hitter in a game that took just one hour, 29 minutes. Humphries in fact scored the game’s only run, doubling to lead off the fifth and getting singled home by Thurman Tucker. May 21, 2009 - The White Sox tied the team record for worst defeat based on run difference in their history, when they were annihilated 20-1 by the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field. The 19-run difference was first set on May 10, 2002 in Anaheim. Bartolo Colon, Lance Broadway and Jimmy Gobble gave up all the runs. Colon at least had something of an excuse…of the eight runs he allowed, seven were unearned!
