  1. Oh god - I hope they can bounce back from that 40 minute flight and at least salvage the last game of the series
  2. Back to 7 over. That's been our resistance point all season. Time to burst through.
  3. I’m off tomorrow, kids are asleep, fridge is stocked, it’s daddy’s night. I’m loving this long game lol
  4. Peters when Vargas says they need to hold a meeting to determine his "big bat" status:
  5. Turns out having actual outfielders out there is better then first basemen
  6. I do think looking at us versus the other contenders, it is reasonable to think that GetzCo looked at us vs the others and thought of how hard it would be to bridge the gap to be World Series level versus just backing into the playoffs and to decide that it wasn't worth what he would give up in the next few years to get there. I would agree with that sentiment.
  7. I've been assured that Brenton Doyle sucks. I can see why. I hate 3-run home runs!!
  8. I would rather not mess with Peters at the moment, he is good at the bottom of the lineup and honestly we need the consistency down there
  9. Hell of a job from Newcomb to pick up 3 innings
  10. Guy has been the heart of this team all season.
  11. Jake is growing on me more and more. He's competent. Romo is odd man out when Teal is back.
  12. Panicans out in full force tonight I see!
  13. That's not what was discussed in this thread. And Hays can't play center field, Doyle was brought in specifically to platoon center field. His metrics suggest he shouldn't play anywhere in the outfield. Doyle is also much younger and has several years of control. It was either Hays or Grichuk.
  14. This is an important point. Given how bad this staff is, how many arms would we have needed to acquire at the deadline to become serious World Series contenders? 2-3 high quality 2/3 starters, a couple bullpen arms capable of consistently surviving high leverage outings, and a catcher who can hit the ball but also play decent defense? I mean, you can't keep Acuna on a WS contender so we'd have to find a replacement for him, I'd imagine. Do y'all realize we could have emptied out our top 10 prospects and probably still not have a true contending roster? Why the hell would we sacrifice 3-4 top prospects who likely end up in MLB just to win the Central this year? Y'all would be calling for Getz's head come October when the Sox don't even make it out of the ALDS...."HE SACRIFICED OUR FUTURE FOR THIS????"
  15. 4 points
    Bonemer starting in CF tonight.
  16. Winning this game would win the season series vs Texas which would be a good tiebreaker to have in a wild card scenario.
  17. We need Burke to come back to form tonight and let's win the series.
  18. His moves were telling. To me they spoke of arrogance. He’s really firm in the belief in the departments he’s built and he’s really firm in his belief of our kids on the farm. I think that arrogance was shortsighted where there should have been a more balanced approach. There should have been more of a willingness to sacrifice some of the future for the present. Oh well… if it doesn’t pan out and he owns this, I’ll forgive it. If it pans out then he was right and he’ll earn some respect. Big gamble in my book. But then again, this team has responded every single time they are challenged or questioned… so maybe he has cause to feel such confidence. Another example we all likely forgot about was that Woods kid that we got in the Gonzo deal with Pittsburgh. Dude got lit up like a Christmas tree in his first Charlotte outing but has since gone something like 11 games 1.43 ERA and double digit strikeouts. That may be another example of taking on a project and his coaching staff bringing results.
  19. Changes are hard mid season which is why it’s strange that Getz went out and acquired two projects out of four total additions.
  20. They have a losing home record, so maybe it doesn't matter that much? Fewest home wins in the division somehow, including KC.
  21. "How My Ass Taste"? -- Chris "Big Diesel" Getz
  22. A reminder that Vargas is close to a 5 tool player. He can be a 30-30 guy easily.
  23. It's a ping pong ball right now for Mune.
  24. Can make the argument that Sean Newcomb has been our best pitcher this season
  25. Peters is carrying this team to the playoffs.
  26. lol I was just thinking, "how funny would it be if he homers off a guy they put in just for him?" He's on a crazy heater right now.
  27. Boy I was sure he was out by a mile at home lol. Throw was awful.
  28. Even if he would have been safe, what's the point? The trail runner wasn't going.
  29. Venable likes doing a little trolling. We do a little trolling.
  30. This pitching staff was never going to last the season. It is held together with bubble gum and shoe strings. Awful trade deadline by Getz.
  31. Four candidates for starring in the next WM commercial
  32. Suzuki was a fucking idiot to bunt. Especially with a pitcher struggling with his command
  33. Site: the Sox have a day off tomorrow lip: well did you consider they will breathe air, and might die lol what a wild ride that would be. Then we will all expect him to look like he did against us a few days ago, then he gets hurt. The circle of life is complete
  34. Yes, one of the factors that hasn't been discussed enough is that it's not just about the size of the lead, it's the number of teams chasing you. For a long time it was three, which is a lot and virtually guarantees that somebody from the field is going to make a run. I'm hopeful that our sweep began the process of knocking the Tigers out; that's one down. I'd like to knock Minnesota out next. Then it's a one-on-one battle against Cleveland where we control our own destiny.
  35. Correct. Although we already have a massive advantage against them in tiebreaker #2, which is division record. Rangers are 20-26 vs AL West Sox are 23-13 vs AL Central Highly likely we win a tiebreaker vs Rangers, even with a loss today.
  36. Maybe, but it wouldn’t be the first time someone found something. Not saying he would be this again, but he could be a piece of the team going forward. 4th outfielder with Caleb in center.
  37. He is awesome. As hard as this final 5 weeks of regular season are going to be and they may not go as we hope - I really have had a ton of fun this season and enjoy this team a lot!
  38. Their run to the division is inevitable, we have see this story too many times
