  1. It also completely missed the point. Ishbia is invested HERE, and is doing big time work to make sure the Sox have an ideal home. Jerry lives in Arizona, and already almost moved the team once, settling for the cheapest possible stadium he could get. The dude owning a nine figure house here just tells me the odds of his leaving are way less than someone who isn't invested here. Hell if he was looking to go cheap for a quick buck, he could have taken the discount on Minnesota because of their debt, and looked to move them. But he didn't. Dude is undergoing a crazy Rube Goldberg of work with different federal and private agencies to get the Sox an idealistic long term home that will actually benefit the franchise going forward. If that is evil behavior, well horns up for me.
  2. This is absolutely game changing information if true. Thank you for bringing it to light. Does anyone else know if this is indeed correct?
  3. For some reason this argument that the new stadium will be bad because it is catering to corporations + tourists and not the atmosphere of die hard and affordability keeps getting served to me. You know why the stadium has been whittled to die hards and prices low? Because we’ve been terrible. And if you think we have uniquely strong spirit at our games, you also believe you are the most beautiful boy in the world when your momma strokes your cheek. as fun as it was going to 18k attendance games but still waiting in line for 2 innings to get a polish because they closed most of the stadium, I think I’ll deal with going to a stadium full of people and teaching them the Sox traditions like “watching the game” and, for some reason now, “doing the wave in the 7th or 8th inning”
  4. I’m just gonna call this place “Trays Palace” It’s the only nickname that fits
  5. When the White Sox move away from 35th & Shields, and the area is finally redeveloped, there will be a solitary webber grill locked to a lamp post to serve vigil for the tailgating days past. A single candle flickering in the night, and the wind will whisper Tray's name...
  6. The idea that daring to question a move means you don't deserve the team is a political press conference level of absurdity for a franchise with the history the Sox have.
  7. the top minds over at Soxtalk thought he should've been benched in favor of...junior perez maybe?
  8. Lots of people not realizing how affordable his brother has made things at Suns games
  9. TO A DEEEE LUX APARTMENT IN THE LOOOOOOOOP
  10. I know this will draw the ire of our resident rage-aholic and perhaps others who love the location, but having to drive to the park from the western suburbs can really suck sometimes. Oh, once I get to the park, parking is a breeze, but getting there? It can be a nightmare as traffic on 55 is perpetually shitty. 290 isn't any better. I drove to a Friday night game a few weeks ago and it took me something like 1 hour 45 minutes from western DuPage because traffic. Mass transit coming in on the Metra isn't great either because after the game, that means waiting on the red line platform for the next train, then at Jackson walking 20 minutes in the Loop to Union Station and hoping I didn't just miss the once-an-hour train by just a few minutes. If that happens, that means twiddling my thumbs at Union Station for close to an hour....that makes for a long commute home. I generally limit myself to Saturday and Sunday games because it's such a PITA to get to the ballpark on weeknights. But, to be successful, the Sox need to bring in fans more than just on Sat and Sun. Traffic still sucks on 55 on the weekends, especially on Saturdays, but at least it's tolerable. The ballpark also has psychological barriers to the east (Ryan) and west (train viaduct) that make it seem like an island from the surrounding neighborhoods. Is there anything worth going to south of the park across from the southern most parking lot at Pershing? That really only leaves to the north where it feels connected to the surrounding neighborhood.
  11. Low cost is what happens where there is no demand. While it is nice for the pocketbook, it's what leads to cheap ownership in the long run.
  12. If you are satisfied being one of the most poorly run franchises in professional sports, literally last in MLB in revenue, it's been an almost ideal half century for you. For me? ¡Viva la resistance!
  13. This video talks about those two bridges beginning at about 13:00. And yes, I believe Amtrak has some long-term plans to use the St. Charles bridge if they ever get enough funding. But the B&OCT bridge goes nowhere and will never be used for rail again....so yes, if someone could get funding to repair it, perhaps it could be re-purposed as a pedestrian bridge. Otherwise, they'll need to build a new pedestrian drawbridge somewhere to connect the 78 with the Amtrak Yard development.
  14. They’re in the playoffs and we may not be there yet. No time to gloat.
  15. I'm not sure how Venable has given Mune 0 days off this whole time. Give him a day or 2 to work on some things in the cage. Get his mind right. You can't keep throwing him out there for him to strike out 3-4 times a game. It's not good for him and it's not good for the team.
  16. Teel heating up can only be a good thing. Let's at leas tmake this a contest. Pirates bullpen is, as my 8th grade students say, cheeks. They've blown some pretty epic leads this year.
  17. Home teams should be liable to refund fans their money after s%*# performances like these
  18. Done tonight. 5 innings 68 pitches. 1 hit, 1 bb and no runs. 42 strikes. Bring him up and let Burke skip a start
  19. We haven't played well the entire 2nd half imo outside a series or two.
  20. Whose gonna start the thread “Are the pirates cheating??”
  21. At this point he needs to wear it. They had a day off yesterday and you can't ruin the pen already.

  23. I think 38K is the sweet spot for a new stadium. Nobody really needs to be 400 feet from home plate and up 100 feet in the air.
  24. God forbid the Sox would become a big market team with revenue coming in from more than just a few sources. I'm not 100% sold on Ishbia but a guy willing to spend with a long term vision (rather than just threatening to move to Nashville) is a breath of fresh air.
  25. Team success and related ticket demand are definitely a huge part of the story here. But not the only part—there is a spectrum of possible approaches to this project ranging from valuing affordability and family accessibility to assure the long-term success of the team on one side, to extracting every possible cent from each attending fan on the other. I wouldn’t be too quick to totally dismiss affordability and accessibility as valid concerns. I hope those leading the charge don’t, even if I’m pessimistic that they will.
  26. Sox vs. Guardians scenarios: Guardians sweep = disaster. Puts Cleveland in drivers' seat to win the division most likely. Guardians win 2 of 3 = not ideal, but fine. Sox own tiebreaker and likely need to sweat out the division but will still win the Central by playing around .500 ball. Sox win 2 of 3 = pretty much puts the Central away in favor of the Sox. Sox sweep = break out the champagne.
  27. Correct. Any blame in all of this should go directly to Jerry. He had 40+ years to develop the area around Comiskey. Did he do it - no
  28. Best 2nd baseman in the AL. Don't know a team in the AL that has a better infield outfield spine than us. Especially defensively.
  29. Doesn't Jim live on the East Coast anyway? How often is he attending the current game day experience which is pretty terrible? Give me the new stadium with all the bells and whistles and tourists that will give us more money.

Oh my god. Baseball Reference has us as AL favorites. I repeat AL favorites.
  31. 2026 MLB Gold Glove Award Predictions
  32. Well said. People who think this need to get around more and travel to more MLB stadiums. The last Sox game I attended, I sat in the 100 level and people were perpetually walking up and down and sometimes even just standing in the aisles while the Sox were at bat and a player was at the plate being pitched to. I actually missed a Braden Montgomery HR because some due was just standing there talking to someone else blocking home plate for me while Braden was at bat. Whatever happened to fans waiting until in between innings or, if they're quick enough, in between at bats to get up and head to the concourse? Ya know, the Sox are in first place and have an exciting team. It's not like this is another 100 loss season where fans can't be blamed for not finding the game riveting. I'm not convinced that Sox fans are more uniquely into the game than people and that the in-game spirit is better at Rate Field than at other ballparks. And yeah, nothing says Rate Field is full of diehards totally into the game than huge groups of people doing the wave. And yeah, the concession lines are often sooo slowwww. It's not the fault of the workers, they just don't have enough people working there. This has been a problem for years.
  33. As soon as there is some organic rise in the season ticket base let's see what happens. $5 tuesdays is great though.
  34. By the way, the rest of that video about other abandoned bridge is pretty interesting too. It's not Sox-related, but fascinating stuff nonetheless. Also cool to see the South Branch Bridge being raised and lowered. The guy is obviously a big train enthusiast.

Magic number sits at 16. 6 games for the Sox, 5 for Guardians before they face off head-to-head starting on Monday. 11 opportunities to chip away at that number before the Cleveland series. Would like to see the number down to 10 or 11 when we arrive in Cleveland. A single win in Cleveland knocks 3 off the number, and then each subsequent win against them would be worth 2. So by the end of play next Wednesday, it's not too far fetched to think the magic number might be around 5 or 6.
  36. The feedback I'm getting is that most people who live in Bridgeport are more upset about the railyard being built in their neighborhood than they are about the White Sox moving out of the area. I think most people feel the team would be better off in the South Loop. Whether they can put that railyard someplace other than Bridgeport,I don't know.
  37. Thinking about it, because of the tie breaker situation, the next time we beat Cleveland ourselves our Magic number will go down 3 after that win.
  38. No, no not that Private Equity billionaire, THAT Private Equity billionaire.
  39. Chase is a treasure. I love the White Sox versatility with the infield gloves. Chase/Acuna can handle SS, Sam fills in at 2nd and is top notch, Colson moves to 3rd and locks it down, Vargas mans 1st.

Have been hate watching Locked on Guardians. No mention of the White Sox at all when it came to the playoff race. Seems most in their orbit have their attention squarely focused on the wild card race and don't think a run at the division is realistic. Again it's just media but it shows just how consistent this white Sox team has been.
  41. Everyone don’t let this man fool you. He participates in the wave AND tarps off
  42. they will remain southsiders. it's not that deep.
  43. F$&@ you $&@hole. You've never said one interesting or informative thing in your life that I can recall. I honestly can't remember a single post you have ever written...yet you and DoUEvenShift get off on your stupid ass emojis ... as you tell others to ignore someone and yet still find time to pepper posts with childish reactions. Life is too short.
  44. Aka Caulfield posts. And if he’s not on your ignore list by now then that’s on you
