  1. Why is the dad from Happy Days in that picture
  2. Mune has been struggling…better give Vargas a day off

If they found his role is best used as a guy who can shut down 3ish innings, and his response has been to pepper the strike zone, then I am absolutely all in on that usage.
  4. No literally, the description of "it's perfectly fine" is so incrediblely perfect for the park. It is one of the lowest regarded parks in professional sports, and it does what it needs to do, and not much more. What a perfect description of both the park, and the Sox existence for the last half century, and we should shut up and be happy about it. The most unironic five star review.
  5. "It's perfectly fine" This should go on Comiskey II's tombstone.
  6. Quick, ask him what his stance is on dinosaurs.
  7. Somebody ask Will why the worst hitter in the lineup is hitting 3rd.
  8. As someone with no memories of Comiskey Park I, I love the current park on an emotional level. All the changes since they lopped off the top of the upper deck have made it better and better, then add all the little things (some added over time): The statues, "The Catch," the pope seat, the two blue seats, Thome's plaque, the murals, the outfield shower, the Fundamentals Deck, the rain rooms. The exploding scoreboard most of all. And a lot of that can be carried over. All of the statues can be placed in the CF concourse / social space in The Railyards rendering. Make statues of Lyons and Appling and now you've got the coolest retired number display in the majors. Leo seat and Blue Seats can go in some sort of historical display. The exploding scoreboard, outfield shower and rain rooms are so easy to add to a new stadium. Obviously the exploding scoreboard and shower were already copy/pastes. Paint new murals! The old ones can also be carved out so as to not lose original art --- but they're also not worth holding up an entire stadium. So ultimately you're losing: Thome's plaque, "The Catch," and the Fundamentals Deck (and a new kids area will surely be built)

That's how I would look at it for now. I want to see him go back to starting next year, but he seems to have found a niche for now, let him cook.
  10. Three points: #1, The White Sox are not leaving Chicago. #2, See point #1. #3 Repeat points 1-2.
  11. This is what I love about Soxtalk, if one man falls, the next picks up his sword and advances. Such teamwork.
  12. Had a 4 game win streak last time I did this. Putting it on the line to keep the luck going when I said yesterday that I don't feel like these PIT/STL games are going to go very well for us. Happy to end up being wrong. Sam Beni Mune Grich CMont BMont TP Meidroth Teel SP Martin

This doesn't belong on page 9.....take no successful season for granted....nice deadline deals clown.
  14. Also extends his lead in asking the ump if he is sure that was a strike instead of challenging it
  15. This is solid work Ron. Based on your history of pronouncing something dead, the Sox should now win like 15 in a row. Way to take one for the team.
  16. I'm so beyond fucking tired of watching the Sox starting pitcher have an excellent start and the bats repay him by spending the entire games with their heads up their ass. Seriously, if I'm Martin, I want to punch every dude in that lineup right now for being downright incompetent.
  17. Kept saying the offense is more of an issue then the pitching.
  18. Started at the deadline giving these guys no spark at all.
  19. I’d be so pissed if I was near him at the park. Literally would ruin my game day experience lol
  20. I was just coming to post that we need to find that fucking kid and end this
  21. I said yesterday, they’re treating him like a 10 year veteran with an amazing history
  22. it makes no sense to do nothing about Mune . it's hurting the team at the worst time . i'm wondering if Reinsdorf is involved.
  23. Dead team. No life out there We score 10 runs on Sunday then turn around and look awful
  24. not doing Mune any favors by letting him try to work his way out of this . he is totally lost right now
  25. Not scoring with a runner on 3rd less than two outs is to be expected now.
  26. Chase has completely went away from what was making him successful.
  27. Mune is fucking awful. At this rate I'm not even sure he's in MLB in two years.
  28. Pham showing up and immediately doing this is just such a bad look. Just move on, it isn’t hard. He has a long list of people who do not care for him in the MLB there is no reason to think too hard about it
  29. I recommend people take the time to read this article. It really shoots down the idea that stopping the Amtrak project would mean this land would remain an unused railyard forever. In fact, what Union Pacific decides to do with those parcels after their merger goes through could be worse......and they wouldn't need any approvals to do it. It also gives a good background of what these railyards were used for until 2019. From the article: Three likely outcomes if Amtrak walks away 1. Union Pacific keeps it, and uses it more. This is the default and the most probable. UP continues to park empties and containers on the viaduct, and once its merger with Norfolk Southern closes — the Surface Transportation Board accepted the application for review in May, and the carriers are targeting mid-2027 — the combined railroad will for the first time own both the yard and the freight rights on the line that serves it. Today those are split between UP and NS, an awkward arrangement that helps explain why the yard has been a backwater. also in the article: What is not on the list: parks and residential .... The opposition's case has been argued as though the alternative to an Amtrak facility is the status quo of a mostly idle storage yard. The status quo is not on offer. Union Pacific idled the yard as a business decision in 2019; it can reverse that decision as a business decision at any time, and the arrival of a merger partner that already runs the freight on this line makes reversal more likely, not less.

When he starts pitching well without one, he can complain.
  31. When will we change the thread title to “Tommy Pham was back?”
  32. 3 points
Let him open for Castillo starts lol
  33. I was just thinking that this thread was missing a wikipedia definition of Darth Vader.
  34. Good God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It never ends with you does it?
  35. I have good news for you! They're moving to a different lot than the 78.
  36. I give him credit for building the team that has been a playoff contender for most of the season but will acknowledge a lousy trade deadline. Time to call up a fresh arm like Thorpe. He's already made 9 starts in the minors this season.
  37. Hitting dingers into the Chicago River would be for the tourists. Hitting dingers into the Cal-Sag would be for the Southsiders.
  38. Amazing thread to return from travel to. Everyone brought it. No notes.
  39. While we’re at it, is Bridgeport even south enough? Ishbia move the team to Morgan Park you coward.
  40. The South loop is on the South side of Chicago. This is dumb.
  41. they will remain southsiders. it's not that deep.
