Sox offering all Mar/Apr/May games for $125
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can’t believe myself, but I’m sort of interested? I mean, I know there’s no way I’d go to anywhere near all 27 games, but I’m still intrigued. Could just be the excitement of watching baseball again (the opponent, not us). I really may end up doing this for the ballpark food alone. -
Is anyone else not excited about this SB at all? I don’t think I’ve ever cared less or been looking less forward to one. I’ll probably end up having it on in the background, but I’m usually either out or glued to the tv for the game. I’ve talked to a couple other people that say they’re not watching it at all. There have been other years where I didn’t care about the matchups, a lot of them recently. I think with this year having so many teams to really root for, with it to just end up being KC-Philly, has made it extra demoralizing.

Royals signing All-Star closer Carlos Estevez

OK, I know I have to be late to the party with this joke, but this is honestly the first time I’ve heard of this guy. -
Yep, it’s a lose-lose.

Milk, you beautiful bastard, if only you could monetize your sports pessimism.

I’m not interested in the tickets, but I’m interested to know if you were able to give them away for nothing. Please update. I find it hilarious that seemingly nobody on a team’s fan site would take them. Not if you’re doing your job as a parent. Haha, hilarious.

Yeah, I’ll hold off on those types of predictions. After Eberflus was hired, they had a segment on one of the local sports radio shows where they talked about certain negative things not flying in an Eberflus locker room. At the time, I thought “How can they possibly know that already?”
-
Of course, but it was the obvious choice according to just about everyone. Let’s also not pretend that Ben Johnson didn’t specifically want this job, again according to all the rumors. And it sounds like that was mainly due to having Caleb. So it all kind of fell into their lap. I’m happy with all of this. I’m just not going to give them too much credit for making the obvious moves. So far, so good.

Again, very happy with the move, but I’m not taking it as the Bears getting better in their decision making. Same as with drafting Caleb, it was the obvious move that literally everyone in football would make in their position. Everyone said Caleb was the #1 pick. Everyone said Ben Johnson was the #1 option at head coach. I’m not giving them too much credit until they do well in this draft and translate it all to more wins. They would’ve convinced Urlacher to become a coach or something.

2025/2026 College Football Thread
Milkman delivers replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
It was not the blowout I expected, but it never felt like Notre Dame had a chance. -
I like this move, don’t get me wrong. But what I expect is that Poles is fired within the next 1-2 years, Johnson is fired within the next 2-4 years, and Caleb walks soon after that. That’s just a lifetime of lived Bears fan experience talking though.

It was 1, then 2, and now 3 in the last couple of pages of this thread. Is it really 3? Because that is actually a significant drop, in my opinion.

2025/2026 College Football Thread

I think the problem with college football regarding the playoffs/championship is that there’s always like 2-5 teams that you know actually have a legitimate chance to win it all, and then a tier just below them of teams you can really only argue deserve a chance to try and fail to beat the clearly superior teams. So they keep expanding the playoffs in an effort to make it more fair for those lesser teams, but it’s still really just a race between those top couple teams. I don’t know the answer to the problem. I just know a single championship game isn’t enough, and anything more than 8 teams in the playoffs is overkill. -
I’m officially off the Lions bandwagon. That defense will cost them in the playoffs.

Do you have strong feelings one way or the other about the McCaskey family? You seem to be an enigma on that subject.

Ha, not true at all, Greg. Merry Christmas, my man.

Whatever gets Detroit home field advantage.

Or they might immediately panic and shoot you. -

Laws vary by state, but I doubt it’s illegal in that particular instance. Sure sounds like a good way to get shot though. -
Kind of proves that it doesn’t, no? Either way, my earlier post was actually a joke in reference to a conversation happening in another Soxtalk thread.

I’m not defending it, I’m just laying out the logic. And they lost to Oregon, the clear #1, by 3 points. -

I know it’s not a satisfying answer, but Boise only lost one game. Penn State’s second loss came in the Big Ten championship game. -
Be fair. They’re at minimum a Conference USA team.
-
You seem to be getting the second part, that’s for sure. I didn’t even see the second and third touchdowns. Conked out on the couch for a nap. Ah, football season.
