  1. That’s what drafts and trades are for
  2. I wonder how fast he can make an impact. Bannister’s impact was felt immediately seemingly, and Getz allowed him to have input on trade acquisitions, free agency and the draft. I assume he’ll let Fuller have the same level of input. Good hire.
  3. Burke, Thorpe, Martin, and Cannon. Iriarte next man up. Bush and Nastrini might be relievers. You’re going to need a reliable proven starter who can eat innings to save the bullpen at least.
  4. I’m of the opinion that they should sign at least one (maybe two) veteran starting pitchers. I wouldn’t be so comfortable going into a season with a rotation this untested, assuming Crochet is dealt before the season. A veteran who can eat innings would be a welcome sight to this team. Plus if the veteran starter(s) is a good, you can move him at the deadline for more long term assets.
  5. He should be the associate manager, they should hire someone more experienced to be the bench coach
  6. Bannister and Katz are in no danger of losing their jobs. Pitching is the one thing that worked last season and both seem pretty highly regarded. Again, most GMs lead the hiring of the hitting and pitching coaches.
  7. I mean this is a big win, I’m so curious about what he said to him. No idea if it works out
  8. Nice win for Chris Getz. Maybe the stuff about internal conflict on the hire was overblown, either way, good for him. He turned down the Mets and Steve Cohen, so I wonder how Getz sold him on this opportunity. Maybe he’s intrigued by having an opportunity to build something from the ground up
  9. You can’t really do better than Bannister/Katz. And lots of GM hire the pitching and hitting coaches themselves, since they affect the entire organization.
  10. Bannister was also very involved in the draft from what was said by the org and reporters. I wonder if he’ll be that involved with intl players.
  11. So Venable in interested in taking the job but JR doesn’t want to pay?
  12. There is a job posting available on Fangraphs, I assume with the R/D dept https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-chicago-white-sox-player-development-affiliate-intern-3/
  13. I’m surprised they didn’t make their hire, not a bad thing but I thought they’d wrap it up fast
  14. There seems to be a (slow) house cleaning going on, of course Jerry just won’t let Getz fire people so he has to wait for their contracts to expire, but it’s still encouraging.
  15. Cairo is the bench coach for the Nationals. I’m not going to read the rest of this, someone didn’t do their research
  16. We don’t know who’s going to be any good, no one knows what makes a good manager exactly. And at the same time, highly lauded managers are rarely available, and just because someone hasn’t done it before, doesn’t mean they’re going to be bad at the job.
  17. If the Sox are looking for a bridge manager, they went about this the wrong way
  18. That’s disappointing
  19. According to who?
  20. If only there was a managerial candidate with that kind of background
  21. Learning about how Katz and Bannister pushed Ecker and Getz to meet, and the interview going well, I think he’s the guy they hire. These interviews with the Dodgers should still definitely happen to get into and more ideas but we’ll see. Lavine still says the Sox have strong interest in their 1B coach
  22. What if they went Ecker as manager and Ellis as bench coach?
  23. I have no problems with the people they interview/contacted. After reading that blurb, Ecker sounds very interesting.
  24. I know no doubt in my mind that Pedro Grifol verbally feliated his way into that job during that interview and said whatever he thought Hahn wanted to hear.
