Somebody suggested trying Robert in RF and having Engel in CF to start some games. It was mocked at the time but maybe it wasn't such a crazy idea. Engel is really great in CF and at robbing HR at the wall. Robert at times gets alligator arms when he approaches the wall. Not knocking his overall defense, but more about maybe using Engel before the last 2 innings to improve defense.

I don't think Eloy is excessively overweight or out of condition. He is 6'4" tall and as strong as a bull. He doesn't have a gut like Kirk or Naylor or heavy torso/legs like Vaughn or Burger. This kid has been slammed on this forum for everything he has done. Yes, some criticism is justified and can be useful, but a lot of it is just garbage. I suspect Eloy's surgery left him with a hamstring that is still somewhat compromised...at least for athletic purposes. It looks to me like Eloy needs daily physical therapy on that hamstring until he can run without fear that it pops or tears again. Until then, he probably should not be in the line-up.

Eloy had fuking surgery on his leg. Same surgery and same Dr that Grandal had...and they have both had trouble rehabbing it. Eloy was grabbing the back of his leg the day before and trying to stretch out the hamstring.

We had 5 lock down starters in 2005 and close to a lock down bullpen in the play-off run. Our 2022 line-up is overrated and are close to last in mlb in home runs. Bad team, bad Manager and bad coaches. Start at the top but don't stop there.

Tony should and likely will be fired but that won't do much for the team or for fans that had and have inflated and unrealistic expectations for a very mediocre team. The Sox are what I thought they were....a 3rd Place team in the Central. These guys are not the Yankees.

They displayed a spray chart of Cleveland's hit balls in the post-game.The amount of ground balls Cleveland hit up the middle made it apparent that they were executing a game plan and it worked. Compare the Guardians first inning compared to the Sox disastrous 7th inning, (where Pollock and Leury G led off with hits and the Sox went down in 6 pitches) . The Guardians were also running out ground balls against an infield defense that was playing a few steps too deep. Also compare the WSox base running to Cleveland's. . It has been terrible this season in many respects. What happened to the concept of "grinding" out at-bats? Why is Zavala first pitch swinging with 2 on and nobody out in a game where we are down by 4 runs in the 7th? It is never too late to learn from mistakes.

This was part of the post-game discussion between Garfein, Ozzie and the Pods. All of us who watch the Sox regularly this season have likewise been frustrated by the poor approach by many of our hitters especially in situations that call for some patience at the plate. The Sox are close to last in home runs yet they are swinging for the fences or whiffi on first pitch sliders..They do not seem to work counts or take a pitch or two to extend innings when a pitcher can be placed under pressure. Instead they often bail pitchers out with lazy fly balls or ground into double plays. Tonight, Cleveland hitters were content to simply take the ball up the middle or through vacated infield spots. That strategy plus two walks plated 5 before we got to sit down with a beer to enjoy the game. Ted Williams took the first pitch every time for a reason.

This situation reminds me of the time that KW had to deal with the Laroach whose kid was running wild on the field and in the clubhouse while Ventura and Hahn did nothing. That was the beginning of the end for Ventura and it should have been for Hahn as well. The Manager and the GM should not have to wait for the Owner or an Exec like KW to have to deal with clubhouse issues or player motivation. I believe we might see TLR and Hahn gone this time around, most likely at the ASB. . Fire Mennechino, Boston and Joe McEwing while you are at it Kenny. Then let's see wtf is causing issues in the clubhouse and deal with them. It's natural to have some cliques because of cultural and social differences, but if there are trouble makers get rid of them.

The last 8 games before All Star break may set the tone for the second half. Putting out this anonymous Tweet just before this critical stretch of games or promoting it is really questionable. The Sox aren't better on paper than the Guardians or the Twins, so I am not sure that changing the Manager will alter that equation. Easy fixes often fail.

Get a new Manager and this team will be ready to compete with the Yankees. Just kidding..

I think changes are coming including letting LaRussa go. JR will try to find a dignified way to do it, like offering LaRussa some type of executive position in the organization. After that, unless a few key players and relievers are added, this team does not appear to have the talent to win the Division. RF is a black hole and the bullpen is just awful.

I have always thought JR would not replace Tony during the season, but I am beginning to think he might. I have been watching Sox games for decades and I have never seen so many heart wrenching close losses in one season, let alone in just a half of a season. JR is watching the same shitshow we are so I doubt he is going to let things devolve any further. I think we will see some substantial changes between now and the start of the second half. Maybe these guys just aren't as good as some of us thought they were. Unrealistic expectations often lead to disappointment.

That was a mistake. Seby has been hitting the ball. Another mistake was not putting the guy on with an open base in the 9th.

The Sox have been more unlucky this season than any I can remember. Every damn thing seems to go against us. In this game there were too many bad strike calls against our hitters that changed at-bats around. Another heart wrenching loss.

Keep Abreu and continue to platoon him with Vaughn at 1B / DH until Abreu retires. JR is never going to allow Abreu to be traded because his character is exemplary, he always gives 100% and he is basically the captain of this team.

I don't know how they scored that play by Vaughn at first nut that was an Error. and then a nice recovery to get the out on the deflection. Vaughn should be DH ONLY.

If you hate LaRussa and want to see him fail, this is the team you want him to manage. These guys are a joke.
