I should preface this by saying that I obviously don't want him to die or anything, but how are we as fans supposed to react to this? I don't feel bad for him, if it's that hard on him, he should resi

Great news for the Sox!  Glad to see that Tony is on the mend and will hopefully manage for years to come.  Onward to the playoffs.

Say they’re in first place a week from now and he says he’s returning.  Sox fans are going to completely melt down.

Just like the team.

Lots of wishful thinking in here. This was JR's hand picked hire, no one that matters is secretly hoping he wouldn't be able to come back. That's just what we all hope.

The only way TLR isn't back next season is if TLR no longer wants to do this. And based off this health scare and now he is hoping to be back next week, he doesn't seem like wants out of this.

I don't want to say players will throw games but I will say we'll see unprecedently poor performance and competitiveness from this team if/when he returns.  They've done enough to prove their point, already.  If the message wasn't received, they'll make sure to send a stronger message.

Yes there most definitely are people in the organization that want him gone forever

What point? We scored 13 runs off of an injured pitcher and a position player and then 9 runs yesterday where 6 of them weren't even earned. Everything else is 4,7,4,1,3,0 or 3.1 per game

This team still sucks on offense, even with TLR gone.

Yeah, but the only guy that can get rid of him doesn't.

I finding it strange that we haven't heard as of yet exactly what is ailing TLR, medical tests don't take that long.

You're so right, but welcome to our loser front office!

Time to bring that Fire Tony shirt I brought back out.

  • knightni changed the title to TLR wants to return this season

Well it was a good run

How funny is it going to be when he comes back, they're in first place and the team loses 4 or 5 in a row and he still comes back next year.

Now Jerry would have a lot of explaining to do, which of course he wouldn't do because he is too arrogant, ignorant and  afraid to face the media and fans.

If that actually happened than shame on any fans that would spend their money going to the park next year!

Then the banners next year to be held or yelled out should be: "Hey Tony didn't you tell the fans and media that you would resign if you ever felt the team quit on you?"

Jeff Torborg told me it was the most unhappy press conference he ever saw when they announced his formal hiring.

I liked Jeff Torborg and this new news about LaRussa is Gross to say the least.

I don’t want Tony back, nor do I think he should…but the idea that the players are suddenly going to start playing worse just because Tony is sitting in the dugout is pretty silly. It’s not like Cairo’s in game decision making has been any better, or Tony took Menechino with him. The team has mostly been the same fueled by great pitching and 3 outlier games where they scored some runs. Not to mention 1/2 of this roster is playing for their jobs, they can’t afford to worry about who’s sitting in the dugout

The boys have been playing hard for their ailing skip. Imagine the boost they'll get when he walks through the doors of that clubhouse. Pray for the American League.

This.  One hundred million percent this.

If Jerry is truly his friend he won't bring him back ever.

Jerry do you want to see this ? Tony LaRussa collapses in dugout and passes away despite attempts to revive him.

Jerry be a true friend and care about his health. Don't let his blood be on your hands.
