  • He lost $350M in total negotiations and $85M from the Twins. 7 years got lopped off his contract. The physical maybe mostly complete, but something is still clearly wrong.

I'm not sure I fully understand the logic behind "wow, the Twins are lucky Correa's medical risk profile turned out to be serious enough to scare multiple other teams away".  I guess time will tell.

Ouch. This is a kick to the nuts for the Sox.  Sox rebuild never stood a chance if JR wasn't going to pony up for any big time FA.

Yeah definitely seems like the Mets care about McNeils $6 mill gtfo

  • Kyyle23 changed the title to Correa to Mets - 12yrs 315M

Lmao wtf

Hendriks for Baty and Escobar. Who says no?

Giants fans are going through actual off-season hell right now after losing Correa, Arson Judge, and Rodon to the NY area.

What was the issue with the failed physical with the Giants?  Wouldn't there be a concern that he'd fail a physical for the Mets?

Are the Sox taking on some of the Hendriks money in that proposed deal, or are the Mets increasing payroll even more?

Continue starting him at 2B? Correa is going to 3B. Eduardo Escobar is out of a job….and probably not good enough to warrant pursuing.

Fairly certain the Mets don’t view excess as a problem.

Makes no sense that the best defensive ss in the game is moving to 3rd base. That zaps a decent amount of correa value.

This Mets team is going to be a disaster imo.

I think he’s their 2B. Escobar will be the guy moved I think.

No money exchanged

Yep, Escobar is definitely the odd man out and with $10M guaranteed remaining on his contract I think they’ll move him rather than keep him as a utility guy. Good fit for the Sox if they can snag a prospect like Baty too, who is also blocked.

Wow to be a Giants fan right now…..woof

Sox won’t do it due to money but it would be a perfect opportunity to bring in Eduardo Escobar to play 2B

Dansby should have waited a bit longer.

Giolito would be a perfect fit for the Mets.

Giants so desperate to make a move, any move… I wonder what they would offer for Timmy. I know, I know… we’d need a SS then.

But I still wonder.

It’s the Mets and they will clearly do anything to win a WS so very possible they would trade Baty…but I wouldn’t call him “blocked” either. He has already played some LF and pretty much every scouting report thinks he has enough athleticism to be fine there. Mets LF is Canha who’s on the last year of his deal so it makes sense for Baty to get more time in LF at AAA this year. Plus the Mets have Vogelbach at DH who could easily have another bad season.

I don't understand it myself. Other than Cohen flexing on other owners, this looks like a confusing construct. Would have been better off signing Rodon IMHO
