Colson Montgomery has arrived

I would have been fine with an Aug 1 or Sept 1 debut, but this is fine. Brooks, Meidroth, Colson, Vargas, Sosa, Teel and Quero - this is the team going forward, so they might as well get them figuring it out together.

Selfishly, watching the rookies is all that's left to make it interesting.

I'd be sad if he fails.  I'm not even sure what failure is for a call up.   I hope he does well fielding his position.

I want a little more success in AAA.

I can't figure out the logic behind this.  It seems like grabbing at straws

I hope it works out. I really do. I'm as sick of losing as everyone else. The thing that worries me most is during

the last 30 games, the best 30 games he's had at AAA, he's still struck out 1 out of every 3 at bats.

I'd be surprised if Wes Kath is in the organization next year. Wilfred Veras seems topped out at AA.

I think Jacob Gonzalez heads the next group of dudes who start to seep up next season. Galanie, Nishida and Caden Conner are also in that group. William Bergolla. Maybe Antonacci, B. Monty and Nick McClain catch up to them next August.

Gonzalez?  Dude can’t even hit well in the minors.

None of those guys listed are really legit prospects...other than Braden, who has hit his own wall after missing a lot of development time last year.

Bergolla MIGHT be a utility guy in the big leagues.

Wish they would have cleared out some of the (outfield) vets so guys like Baldwin Colson and Quero/Teel can get more consistent/regular playing time.

And still really don't know what they have with Vargas and Sosa moving forward.

Agree. Colson Montgomery can stay in the Minors 5 more years and it won't make him any better. This will be his one shot (referencing Eminem) to prove his critics wrong. At least they won't have him face elite pitchers like Baldwin did in his last two call ups.

Where is he going to play. I assume that it has to be SS. So then that moves Meidroth to 2nd.

Does Sosa sit?? That would really bother me. With Vargas struggling, the Sox have only 4 or 5 real major-league level hitters, and Sosa is one of them.

Are they gonna sit Sosa so we can watch Capra and Rojas bat???  I really think that's what's gonna happen; they sit Sosa; this and keep putting Rojas and Capra out there.

Starting to remind me of Joe Borchard...albeit not much in common beyond left-handedness, polite/respectful personalities and then all the prospect hype.

I would think Vargas at 3B , Montgomery at SS (until he boots a few) , Chase at 2B, and Lenyn Sosa at 1B.

Can anyone really be mad seeing Colson  instead of Crapa

I'd be mad if I saw Colson instead of Capra if I were watching the dugout.

I would assume Crapa is gone but if he actually is a decent defender at SS, then he might have the edge over Rojas. But Rojas also makes more money so idk.

It has to be Capra. The guy is a waste at the MLB level.

This should be interesting one way or another.

It's earlier than I thought but in no way is it idiotic.

Hitting in Colorado against Rockies pitching seems well thought out.

It's just another safe reason  for people who need to be right, more reasons to feel good about themselves based on other people's failures. If he does poorly, like most prospects, they get to feel vindicated . See it was stupid. No, it's what happens with most prospects. If he has a good series in Colorado the whiners can safely claim small sample size and lick their chops with his 1st 0 for 10 with 6 Ks. It's as if they want him to fail. Too much good press. It's like with Vargas since he's cooled down. The safe play is to say you don't believe in him because you don't really believe in anything Sox related.

He's got to get his sea legs against MLB pitching to continue the progress that was made by the Fuller Fix. He's by no means a finished prospect but you were going to eat an option this year anyway. Might as well give Montgomery, Baldwin, Teel, Quero, Meidroth, Vargas ,Sosa and possibly Elko too all up here growing together.

They waited until he had a GW hit in AAA...favorable hitting environment against the Rockies (headed for one of the worst seasons in history) and then three RH pitchers, including young Dollander who has been scuffling.

Not sure what else they could do.

Probably thought he could be overwhelmed in that racuous LA environment against Kershaw.

Sosa played first early in the year and botched up easy plays.
He’s not a good fielder, period.  DH might be his best position.
Go with Vargas at 3rd, Colson at SS, Meidroth at 2B and I want Teel at IB, it will prolong his career, give Quero more time at catcher with Lee the backup.

Why is Noda still here, OPS is under .500, bring Elko back up then if they want they can keep Teel behind the plate.

Please don't send Baldwin down again after 3 AB's --- AGAIN.  One of Capra/Noda/Rojas should be the corresponding move.

Should be Capra and Noda. Sosa plays 3rd, Meidroth 2nd. Vargas at first. Would call up Lee too so Teel and Quero can split DH/C in the same game so we have a backup C. Hope they haven't given up on Elko
