He's getting insane run support. Unless he makes this team start hitting, he would be of no help

Fathom, I've always been a guy who believes in the "coach on the field" thing. Our pitchers used to copy Mark and everybody worked fast. He earned the salary of a player and a coach.

We don't have enough power in the lineup. As soon as LaRoche bats, there is no real power threat

Very true. This lack of power is going to hurt the team this summer. The Sox home run bats won a lot of games in the Cell the past many seasons, in some instances making up for the porous defense and lousy bullpen.

People can keep saying "we've just faced a lot of good starting pitching." Well guess what? They are all in our division, and we will be facing them over and over, so it won't be any different.

So you don't have to waste time watching.

Agree but Coop is not letting Flowers call the pattern. Watch how often Flowers looks over to the dugout. His head looks like a swivel.

Who cares, even if pitches were being called by the bench. Its up to the pitcher to execute them. Its not like he was getting squeezed. He was missing by quite a bit. You need to command the fastball in this league.

I agreed with the decision to put him in the pen before tonight. I did not foresee our totes awesome manager putting him in a pressure situation for his major league debut in a tight game. They literally threw the game to watch Rodon pitch. If that was the goal, they should've just started him. If the goal was to acclimate him to the bigs, he shouldn't have been inserted into a pressure situation like he was tonight. It's management 101, baseball or not...you put your people in positions to succeed.

I disagree they threw the game. He came 7n a game they were losing to face a lefty. Once they started scoring they might as well leave him in to get work.

Is that why Tyler looks over at the bench every time before throwing down his signs?

Pitchouts, throws over to first, those things come from the dugout. The White Sox are one team that does not call pitches from the bench.

It's like the pressure is still on the Sox every AB. It's been this way for a long time now. Why can't they just loosen up and work these pitchers. Foul pitches off on purpose, play the game. We don't play the game, we just swing at baseballs. Hard to iterate this feeling.

To reiterate, points for the best use of "iterate" in this thread.

You don't want to live with only power. How many times in the past did sox teams have to wait to hit 2 or 3 run homers in order to have any offense. The issue with this team is guys aren't getting on base or when they finally do the hitters rolling over on pitches or strike out. What this team needs clutch hitting which they are hardly getting.

You need to have some people who can put a quick run on the board, especially against teams with great pitching in the AL Central

I disagree. I'm sure the Sox bench have called pitches in games

At least not a fringe player and to the extent he has dominated.

Lew Ford, Denny Hocking, Matt LeCroy, Henry Blanco...Shannon Stewart, etc.

Pretty much any random Piranha who played against the White Sox from 2001-2004, 2006, 2009-10.

The Sox do have some people that can do that. They've done that already but can't do anything after that.
