That's not good enough for a 1B only bat. He was supposed to be the best college hitter since Kris Bryant. A .900 OPS should be bare minimum at every level.

Even if this wasn’t his draft year, why would you be concerned? He’s played a whopping 13 games in A+ with an OPS of .842, and he has more walks than strike outs.

I mean, he probably does suck based on his Cuban League numbers, but he was out for a while prior to this season, has a ridiculously low BABIP, and was always going to be a project offensively. Your expectations are way off here.

He hasnt played baseball in like 16 months. Baseball is a game of timing. He may suck really bad but we wont have any idea until he gets stateside. Agree with you.

As several people have stated, he changed his hand positioning pre-swing, which has cut down on his hitch. The results speak for themselves.

Alex Rios was 6'5 and played a decent CF. It isn't unheard of. Penciling the guy in as a DH when he can currently play CF is silly.

And who would this younger better LH hitter be? Well, A. J. Reed is younger and left handed. Great idea!! Let's have Reed with his .143 average in Charlotte replace Abreu and his 86 RBIs. No good? Let's go to AA and go with Sheets. He's a lefty and sporting a fine .269 BA and .759 OPS in AA How about Vaugh and his .267 BA. Well, he does have a OPS of .842 down there in A ball, but he's a righty, so no. You guys kill me. Why is Abreu no good just because he's older? Younger is not necessarily better, and certainly not in the three people I just listed. Maybe in a couple years, Vaughn might be better, but we don't know that. Think Collins or Fulmer. Plus I am tired of you guys saying he's bad defensively like it's a fact. He throws well above average for a 1st baseman, and how many errors has he saved for Moncada and Anderson by digging hops out of the dirt. Can any of these younger guys, right now, listed above, do that as well as Abreu? Of course not.

Society is very mean right now. Sports are very "what have you done for me lately" right now. Jose Abreu is everything that's right with sports and specifically White Sox baseball.

The guy has played a ton of baseball this year. It's obvious he's tired. The power isn't quite there like it was earlier, but he is so dangerous he's getting pitched around quite a bit down there.

I'm not, but I'm honestly concerned if he's not hitting at least .300 with a .900 OPS at every minor league level. It's really hard to justify that pick if he's not making a mockery of the minors. He should look a lot like Luis Robert has this year, without the Triples. If he doesn't have a 2019 Robert-esque season next year I'll be concerned. He has little margin for error with the bat.

Yup. I saw him just hit a homer and it was his 18th of the year. I thought, wow that's low for a powe guy in today's game. Then I looked up his stats with the sox because I thought he hit 38 one year but it was actually 40. And i didnt remember the guy hitting 40 Homer's 4 years ago because the past four years have been that bad. Amazing he hit 40 Homer's and had like a 760 ops.

That actually has nothing to do with it. If you’d actually listen to what Hahn said on topic instead of commenting blind, you would understand that they are working on completely changing Collins approach at the plate and they want him to do that with everyday at bats in AAA. I too think he’s earned another shot in the bigs, but it’s not like they demoted him without a plan. And the plan seems to be working very well to this point.

Tough loss for DSL team, Navarro gets hit in the 9th, he has come through more often than not. Oh well.

I don't really understand people who DON'T want Abreu back in a DH-only role. Given all the issues we have had since 2011 finding a consistent DH, it seems like as streaky as he is, Abreu can be counted on to reliably deliver an .800ish OPS. It's not like those grow on trees, or that they come without cost. We would either need to sign a FA DH for a similar amount of money as a DH or slot in one of our relatively unproven kids like Collins as DH (not Eloy - he still belongs in the field with Robert's range being huge and as long as he calls him off a lot). He makes the most sense here, he wants to be back, we want him back. Even if they overpay, who fucking cares? Reinsdorf has billions and you're crazy if you think $10 or $12 million a year makes a big difference. He might make the fans feel that way, but all of these owners could afford $500 million dollar payrolls even if they treat their fanbases like they can't afford it.

They don't have a problem signing them in CA.

Except Rios was 6’5 210 in his prime and 6’5 180 when he was drafted, this kid is already 6’4 215 at 17 and putting on more weight, and likely another inch of growth. He’s played most games at LF and only a handful at other spots. It’s not like he’s being blocked other legit prospects at CF/RF, the fact he’s not spending more time there suggests something. None of us have seen him play other than that one clip, I am projecting based him body type, age, and his position right now, and the chances are higher that he moves to a less premium position than more premium position as he fills out. I don’t know how that is debatable, unless anyone has better scouting reports.

Have you been following just how good Tatis has become ? When he was tearing through the minors I remember saying to those saying how bad the trade was can we at least see if he becomes a quality major league ballplayer . Well it's official unless he's a 1 year wonder but he is really good.
