Who is on the table again? Just want to make sure I’m keeping up. Holiday => Untouchable Basallo => Untouchable Mayo => Untouchable Kjerstad => Might be needed next year Cowser => Might be needed next year Ortiz Bradfield => Needed to replace Mullins Beavers McDermott => Can’t give up pitching depth Horvath Norby Tavera Povich => Can’t give up pitching depth Deleon Lirenzo10 points

My god, I hate this thread. I’ve grown to wish every Orioles prospect flops.7 points

If I've learned one thing, it's that teams who rely on Craig Kimbrel as their big external addition are guaranteed to go far5 points

Did we just trade Greg for SportsGuy? Goddamn. I would have assumed he was an untouchable.5 points
-
He literally has 79 at bats in the minors. Banking on him as a starting CF next year is insane5 points
-
Surprised to see greg posting over at the orioles hangout board. Either that or someone made a very accurate greg parody account.5 points

for reference, Edgar Quero is ranked 8 spots lower than Jones on MLB.com's top 100 list. Do you think 2 years of Cease is worth roughly the same as half a season of Giolito? Something tells me it isn't "self-sabotage" to want to get more in return for Cease than Giolito. If not, keep him.4 points

It was a tough decision, but we at Soxtalk felt it was time to move on. Someone queue up the greg tribute thread so I can immediate lock it.3 points

If he’s the headliner the Sox should just keep Cease for now, and this is coming from someone who hates the idea of risking injury/under performance with him.3 points

Orioles fans I’ve talked to agree. That’s why I think the headliner isn’t the issue here.3 points

You’re kidding me right? You can disagree with dumb column ideas and still recognize that he’s extremely well sourced with information. It’s really two different jobs.3 points

Yankees can have him. Putting aside the sexual assault allegations (and that's a BIG aside), this team is trying to address the culture issues before we can contend. Why would we bring in a veteran with a history of being a "clubhouse distraction" in the best of terms, and a "me-first" immature dickhead in layman's terms.3 points

This dude is a fucking moron. Does he understand what OR means? Dude is adding names on top of each other like OR means AND. And BTW it will take closer to 60m in SV from that site rather than 40m due to the premium for pitching. So yeah if it were Jones by himself for Cease I'd say no. You gotta throw in Hampton or Warren as the second piece and if Warren is the second piece then you need a quality third piece like Lalane or Vivas. As far as BAL goes, that site values Cowser alot more than Kjerstad (prolly cause of D, OBP, superior hit tool, speed etc). If Chicago accepts Kjerstad instead of Cowser, the rest of the package will be quite significant.2 points

The worst part is that my grandmother in law is 96 and has been a ride-or-die O's fan since Day 1 and we've bonded over baseball. I'd like Cease to go there to make them better for her. This thread is making it tricky.2 points
-
Didn’t you hear? All their prospects are guaranteed to work out and no one will have regression. Why add anything?2 points

3 franchise QBs in the last 30 years for Green Bay. Bears can't get 1 franchise QB in 50+ years in their history.2 points

Just let this guy talk to himself and stop quoting him. It’s insane that an O’s fan that clearly has nothing better to do has amassed 500 posts in this thread. Make it stop.2 points
-
True, but based on your logic, his offers suck for those options as well. I mean, it hasn’t happened, so therefore he is lowballing those potential deals.2 points

Andrew Vaughn was the best college hitter in his draft class. We lucky Sox fans have learned that it doesn’t always translate to the MLB.2 points

If that’s their offer, then you simply hold cease until the trade deadline. That offer is doo doo2 points

If Bradfield isn't on the table, then every non-Joey Ortiz — who is old enough to go by Joseph — member of the Orioles top 8 is off the table.2 points

No idea. Possibly but it's weird with Kjerstad. He could end up at 1B and they have Mayo, Rutschman and Basallo This is where I disagree. My guess is that Getz is aking for two of: Cowser, Kjerstad, Mayo, Basallo and Westburg and that's the hold up. This is my speculation but maybe he has a timetable in regards to taking one of them with other players and that's been the plan all along. I don't really know. If he's insisting on Cowser/Kjerstad plus Westburg though, Cease likely starts opening day for Sox. I just don't think Sox have any interest in Joey Ortiz as a second piece. I wouldn't. I also don't think Norby sticks at 2B so I'd understand the hesitancy there too.2 points

While I don’t believe Santos is untradable like Balta, I certainly think you’d be getting 50 cents on the dollar by moving him now. Seems like a guy whose value could increase significantly with a healthy & productive first half.2 points
-
Santos has posted videos of him throwing on Instagram this offseason so it doesn’t seem like whatever injury he had at the end of the season is that serious.2 points
-
I’m cool with wherever they put him as long as they have him, I think his bat is gonna be elite and actually provide power unlike Vaughn2 points
-
Trevor Bauer is POS. But I would definitely sign him if I were the Sox. I mean, realistically, what do they have to lose at this point? 95% of fans already hate them.2 points
-
That doesn’t even include losing Bautista for the season. That’s their biggest loss by far.1 point
-
I hear ya. To be completely up front, I know very little about Joey Ortiz, but my god, if this thread doesn’t make me hate him already. I’m cheering against the poor bastard even if he’s traded here.1 point
-
No it's not their money. I decided to pretend to make up and play nice until the bonus, and will be heavily looking for another job in the mean time. It's really difficult working for bad managers, I salute those who have no choice but to put up with on a daily basis.1 point

Sox can't even get a 2B or RF...the bar there's about as low as it possibly getz.1 point

It’s becoming an infatuation for you, may want to talk to someone. For someone who hates Fields, you can’t seem to stop talking about him, even when someone doesn’t bring him up1 point

Premium positions are C, SS, CF. middle of the spectrum are 2B, 3B, RF. you hide guys at 1B and LF. A good defensive 3B or 2B is obviously nice to have, but it’s not a premium position. Jake Burger is able to fake it at both, for gods sake. You’re not gonna see him faking it in that top tier, just as an example. Most guys playing 2B or 3B are only there bc they couldn’t cut it in the top tier and had to move down the spectrum.1 point
-
White Sox would be better off taking him out of equation, protecting Cease as a trade target by guaranteeing roster/rotation spot to Bauer. Half joking. But attendance is train wreck city regardless. Can't make it any worse than the current roster already has/does.1 point
-
SS and CF are the only 'premium' positions. He's not wrong. 2B is where those who can't actually play SS due to average D, lack of an arm, or their bat is too weak end up. 3B is where SS go whose body fills out too much and they lose the ability to react quick enough for SS.1 point

If you truly believe this and not just trolling, then you don't understand the dynamics of a trade between 2 teams. Needs and demands of individual teams ay into the dynamic of negotiations. This does explain your stance on negotiations so at least you are consistent.1 point
-
He’s not a base stealer at all. He would be a very disappointing headliner. He can be a solid Major Leaguer, but you can also get someone like that via free agency for fairly cheap.1 point
-
The part you are skipping over is the one thing the Sox don't have really anywhere is left handed power. This is something they have been missing for years. So in this deal, that is a premium. The value of the prospects in this is not the same it might be in other deals. The value of a prospect differs as the market and deal dictates. It is not an absolute value. This will help clubs in some situations and hurt it in others.1 point
-
Yeah, why their fans would think bradfield wouldn’t be on the table is puzzling1 point

I have vacation time, but no new job lined up yet. I'm working on it now so I can be prepared to leave. I'm responsible for a new product launch so my absence would not look good. I still need to juggle professionalism with my desire to leave, right?1 point
