With typical White Sox communications, we will find out in February when he doesn't show up.4 points

Seems like a question for management who did everything to bury him instead of playing him to see what he had.3 points

Him hitting in front of Trout would have sounded cool a few years ago.3 points

Unfortunately, no medical procedure or rehab is guaranteed or linear in process. It could very well be that after taking the recovery time, he is just building up the arm and he won't pitch early on. What they were able to do with Crochet was ground breaking and an outstanding achievement. It's worth keeping an eye on.2 points

Liam Coen removed himself from consideration for the Jaguars job, and shortly after that, Trent Baalke got fired2 points

How on earth was CC Sabathia a first ballot HOF (86%) of votes and Buehrle received 11% of the votes? Their stats are strikingly similar (apart from K rate) over their careers. To be fair, IDK if I think either are HOF worthy.. But one certainly shouldn't be head and shoulders over the other.2 points

“C’mon kid. Don’t you wanna move across the country as an 11 year old so you can go to Pirates games instead of Dodgers games?”2 points

That's what set Jose Contreras on a down ward trend....it was either covering 1B or trying to field a bunt, but it definitely happened in late May 2006 against Cindy. Never the same again from that moment onwards.1 point

60 WAR, 3000 hits, 10 time All Star, MVP, ROY, 10 time Gold Glove, 3 time Silver Slugger, .311 career batting average over 2653 MLB games. This was all after he came to the States at age 27. Absurd that it wasn't unanimous.1 point

I remember that time when Carson Fullmer was finally pitching ok and hurt himself busting it down the line and then he sucked again.1 point

Medicine is not linear nor a hard science as much as we try to make it. There is a reason they call it the practice of medicine. He is not the only one this has happened to nor will he be the last.1 point

It's very possible. After talking to some people involved, I'm more optimistic that he can carry it over without significant issues. However, it is so different than previous plans with pitchers that while it makes sense l, it is ground breaking so who knows. My biggest questions is if boston will continue to follow through with the plan. We know the Sox had a plan with sale and Boston didn't follow through and sale got injured relatively quickly.1 point

What happened with Crochet was amazing. Do you think, however, it could catch up to him in 2025? I for one, do not trust he being healthy.1 point

No love for Sosa because he was good for one month. The rest of the time he has played, he has been weak in the field and corkscrews himself into the ground at the plate trying to hit 500 foot dongs like Juan “Tasmanian Devil” Uribe. But this roster is a giant suckfest so Sosa should get every opportunity to play a lot of games.1 point

Seems like yesterday he hit that walk off HR in Iowa and was at the top of his game. Oh how the mighty have fallen....1 point

Didn't know the angels needed a catcher. Seriously though, What a fall from grace1 point

Still would have preferred that Keashcall trade. Has played up the middle in CF, SS, and 2B and has some time until he is needed on the 40-man so no immediate crunch to get him playing time. Vargas just really doesn't fit anywhere (also, why I thought they should move him to 1B while non-tendering Vaughn).1 point

Until I hear otherwise, I expect him to show up to Spring Training in the best shape of his life.1 point

Well, ask the White Sox. They had him playing 2b last year. This offseason they have since traded for a guy who also plays 2b and 3b who already spent a full year at AAA, and then signed a veteran who also plays, get this, 2b and 3b. That's on top of Vargas, who they tried to make into a 3b but who seems somewhat positionless. It sure seems like the people saying he doesn't deserve to start are the ones signing veterans at the same positions as him.1 point

Both Sosa and Cory Snyder simply could not adjust to the way Hriniak wanted them to try to hit. Snyder at least tried, did an interview with him where he talked about the issues but Sosa I've been told simply refused to go along. He wanted to be a home run hitter and pull everything. That wasn't Walt's way and at that time Hriniak had a lot more power than Sosa.1 point

Combine the above with say a big free agent oline signing (even if you have to overpay say the Chiefs guard) and signing the Lions center to a short-term deal (and draft his replacement in the 3rd - 4th round) and add at least one 1st or 2nd round pick on the oline to go with Wright and that is a better line. Bring back Pryor as a depth move and you still have Jones and Kiran, plus Bates I suppose (if you think he is healthy) and that is a much improved line and the interior would be pretty strong. You than can take one more bite at the apple in terms of pass rush too - maybe its a shorter term deal on Mack (or someone else - until you have enough draft capital) and than add a speedy wideout, certainly a running back (in the above scenario I would be on board with a RB in Rnd 2 or 3), a db or two and a dlinemen plus some more free agent moves and I'd feel like that is a HUGE step forward.1 point

That's why Toronto wasn't that far off, because of direct flights and global Arctic circle route saving a ton of time. (As long as they stay out of Russian air space.) Too bad Vancouver doesn't have their own team....too close to Seattle.1 point
