You are hyping up 37 ST plate appearances each for Vargas and Sosa. You did this last year as well and we all saw what happened.
Regardless, not one team in baseball is trading a Coby Mayo for a Colson Montgomery, Sosa, or Vargas, because of a tiny sample size of ST plate appearances.
The larger sample size of actual meaningful MLB plate appearances tells a more reliable story.
Miguel Vargas (age 25) — .586 OPS in 591 career MLB PA
Lenny Sosa (age 25) — .604 OPS in 578 career MLB PA
Coby Mayo (age 23) — .293 OPS in 46 career MLB PA
I know which player I would pick out of those three in a split second, and I wouldn’t need to ask Ryan Fuller. He’d take Mayo too. But if Fuller is truly the solution, why didn’t Mayo have more success in his small sample size in the majors last season?
